Swing and a miss he struck him out, put it in the books!

Mets win with the usual bullpen hijinks. Took 2 of 3 for Atlanta and should've swept them. verbum and Co. were talkin' all that good shit on Friday, now what happened? Braves lost the series to the AAA All-Stars...

I am relaxed, think 90% of my posts this season have included the words Jason Bay. Love kicking a man while he's down!

You're a cruel, cruel man LJ11. So is the schedule maker who made me play you AGAIN to start out the league...

Well I have some important shit to do on Tuesday. Depending on how it goes you may be able to have your way with me if I'm distracted enough by the days events.

...

I don't think you realize what you're saying...

Was watching nba and DVR'd the Mets game... how does K-Rod still have a job? Too lazy to check but he has to have the highest WHIP of any reliever in the MLB.

Any other closers in the majors who routinely put on multiple baserunners each appearance?
The Beard.

Also:
Juan Marichal never had a run of six straight starts allowing one earned run or fewer. Neither has Tim Lincecum. Gaylord Perry or Carl Hubbell never did it.

Ryan Vogelsong.
You don't know what you had, Pirates org!

I feel like we go through this every week. I love baseball and watch both the Mets and the Yankees.

He has a whip of 1.57 and a surprisingly low 2.89 ERA

Cut him some slack eh? Hes getting out of a season starting rut. I think he had plenty of right to celebrate playing at home capping off a sweep with the 2nd game winning homerun in a row.

Also...St. Louis didn't monopolize playing baseball the right way. Any team is capable of having the same standards of quality that we have.

Not exactly true. The Brewers have a dry clubhouse.

Where are all the Braves fans tonight? They were real chirpy on Friday...

and Y2Kev? trollisay? WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US?
Well I can't speak for anyone else, but I was sailing on my buddy's boat all day. Pretty sure most Braves fans knew we weren't going to win anyways. Our shitass lineup can't hit knuckleballers.

Oh yeah, draft day 1 tomorrow. I have no idea who the Braves are going to grab. Probably a prep pitcher. I just want to know who's going to draft Bubba Starling.

4pm PST/ 7pm EST

If Rendon is there at the second pick, I hope the M's go for him. If not, I'm cool with either Starling or Lindor. We need a premium bat.

Well, I was out hiking 13 miles in 100F heat. I got home and was asleep by 8:00PM.
Braves are looking bad these days, lose 2 of 3 to the Padres and the Mets. Key players such as Hudson, Uggla, Jones, Gonzalez not getting it done.
I am dreading the series against the Marlins. My only consolation is that the Braves did well before the All Star break last year and then played worse as the season went on. This year is hopefully a reverse of that.
Good game for the Mets.

A win tonight would be massive. A 6-2 road trip follow by 6 games at home. Man that would be sweet. Plus, 3 of those home games are against the Mets.

I realllllllly am hoping that all these reports I hear about the Pirates taking Cole at #1 are true.

I wish MLB allowed trading of picks.

Me too. But god damnit do I ever want Rendon. A possible Evan Longoria with Ackley, Smoak and hopefully Franklin eventually in the infield makes me cry for joy.

I'm a bit worried about Rendon ... if he was 6'2" 210 I'd absolutely love him ... but he is kind of small. I still like him more than anyone else however. Starling is interesting but the risk of him not signing is too much for me.

I don't know, I mean if the M's throw several million at him to play a sport that he enjoys playing; that would be a hard deal to pass up. Plus he would have a faster track to reach the Majors than with football.

Rendon is pretty awesome. And yeah an infield with Franklin, Ackley and Smoak would be stellar.

Remember when we all made fun that Nyjer Morgan = Adam Dunn Fangraphs post from a few years back?

Yeaaaahhh
It was still an incredibly dumb post at the time. I have no idea what's wrong with Dunn, but I hope he recovers to have an at least decent year.

I just hate Dunn so much right now. At least I picked up Hosmer in that fantasy league.

Cameron just likes to write those contrarian opinions. In the offseason, he said that Bautista might actually be better this year. There are other examples, like when he made sure to point out how Ubaldo Jimenez had stuff similar to Strasburg.

Is there any specific reason there isn't? I mean shit its 2011 after all
To prevent teams like the Nats and Pirates from trading high picks to the Yankees and staying shitty even longer. I think it also has to do with the lack of a salary cap or fixed salaries for rookies and some other stuff like that.
