He has no reason to complain about luck, Chelsea win half their games on ground of deflected long range shots, own goals and free-kicks. This season is no different to last years.

"It doesn't matter what happened in the game - we got the three points."

-Wayne Bridge gets confused after winning the Carling Cup final with Chelsea.

Once again Jose's attempts at playing mind games are so over the top compared to the shit Wenger and Ferguson did a few years ago. Which wouldn't be a bad thing per say, if the quips were at least somewhat humourous. He seems to save the laugh inducing quotes when he's defending his own team, and to be fair he might be the best/funniest in the business in that regard.

Though those skills might get put to the test, with The Independant doing a frame by frame dissection of the Carling Cup free for all and finding that Drogba and Essien both threw punches.

'Broadcast material indicates that Essien cuffed Denilson on the face, and Drogba slapped the back of Cesc Fabregas' head. The FA also has access to film that was not broadcast on the day. If the FA is prepared to follow the letter of the law, and risk the wrath of Chelsea and their lawyers, Drogba and Essien should be suspended for three games, the penalty for "violent conduct".'

Needless to say, the ramifications to Chelsea and Man U would be immense. The cynical (read: realistic) side of me says that they'll somehow escape, but we'll see.

So what does this mean for the FA Cup tie tomorrow? Are all three (Kolo, Ade, and Eboué) out or do they get to play because the suspensions are still under appeal?

Arsenal and Chelsea charged after Carling Cup brawl
Eboué and Adebayor also face personal charges

Arsenal and Chelsea have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following the brawl towards the end of the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

The FA charge alleges that the clubs failed to ensure that their "players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour". The clubs have until March 14 to respond.

Arsenal's Kolo Touré and Emmanuel Adebayor and Chelsea's John Obi Mikel were all sent off in the closing minutes of the game following a mass ruckus, though Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboué, who allegedly punched Wayne Bridge, escaped punishment at the time.

Eboué, however, must now answer a violent conduct charge in connection with the incident. It is thought that Adebayor was sent off because referee Howard Webb thought he was responsible for the punch on Bridge, but the decision to pursue Eboué does not mean the Togolese striker is in the clear - his furious reaction to his red card, and his initial refusal to leave the pitch, have led to him being hit with a personal charge too. Both players, according to an FA statement, have until 6pm tomorrow to respond, with a disciplinary commision to hear Eboué's case on Thursday, with Adebayor's to be heard on Tuesday March 6.

The club's appeals against red cards shown to Adebayor and Mikel are currently being heard, with a decision expected later this afternoon.

Eboué with a fistfull of Bridge's head. :lol

I didn't think Toure appealed, did he?

I'm not sure whether I want Reading or United to win tonight. If Blackburn go through, it'd obviously be great to have United out of the picture. But if we don't, I'd prefer Reading to go out so there's still a good chance of an CL-qualified FA Cup final to add another European place to the Premiership.

I think you're right. Adebayor appealed, Toure didn't. Eboué is facing new charges. That would mean that Toure is definitely out (I think), whereas I'm not sure where the other two stand.

Sounds like Diaby did his ankle when he hit Terry in the side of the head. Bad luck there....

Dont think he's actually compaining, he's just saying you have the luck this season, which, after watching the fulham game, is definitely true. As he says "That's football".
We have had a bit of luck this season; that fulham game was a perfect example, but every league winning team needs a bit of luck. Chelsea are the bigggest example of that. How many times have they avoided penalties being given against them and scored deflected goals? Knowing mourinho he probably is complaining. Its a poor attempt at criticising United.

Ugh. The injuries keep on piling up for Arsenal...

Injuries stack up for FA Cup replay at Blackburn
Wed, Feb 28, 2007, 8pm
By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger has been forced to make numerous changes in his squad for the FA Cup Fifth Round replay at Blackburn on Wednesday night.

The Arsenal manager could be without as many as 10 first-team players and, as a result, may take some of his ‘Carling Cup youngsters’ to Ewood Park.

“There are plenty of changes but it will still be a strong team,” the Frenchman told Arsenal.com on Tuesday.

“We have lots of injuries. We don’t have Adebayor (suspended), Thierry Henry (foot) and Tomas Rosicky (groin). At Cardiff on Sunday we also lost Abou Diaby through an ankle injury and Kolo Toure who was sent off. Fabregas will be rested as well.”

The injuries don’t end there. Justin Hoyte is troubled by a hamstring strain picked up at the Millennium Stadium, Johan Djourou is struggling with an ankle complaint while Mathieu Flamini is doubtful with a foot problem.

Robin van Persie will definitely miss the game of course. His prognosis is still anything between four and eight weeks because of the broken metatarsal he suffered against Manchester United on January 21.

Fortunately Wenger has some experienced players in need of games.

“William Gallas is coming back,” he said, “so are Hleb and Ljungberg. They will be involved. Denilson will be there aswell. Clichy (foot) is in the squad but I am not sure he will play.”

:(

Baptista to start upfront with Lehmann, you heard it here first. Poom will play rightback.
:lol

Given who's left standing, I'd guess we might see something like....

Lehmann
Gallas Senderos Gilberto Traore
Hleb Denilson ??? Ljungberg
Aliadiere Baptista

Not sure if you slot Gilberto in at centreback or put him in the center of midfield. Hmmmm....

Lehmann

Eboue---Poom--Gallas---Clichy

Ljungberg--Denilson/Baptista--Silva--Hleb

Walcott/Baptista----Aliadiere

With no one on the bench...

Let's see who gets closer:

----------------Almunia----------------
Djourou - Gallas - Senderos - Clichy
Ljungberg - Denilson - Gilberto - Hleb
----------Baptista - Aliadiere ----------

edit: forgot that Hleb is fit

Oh, if we're going to play that game:
----------------Poom----------------
Poom - Poom - Son of Poom - Poom
Moop - Poom - Poom - Poomtastic
----------Poomlite - Poom----------

Just kidding. Lemme think about it and figure out how I want to finalize mine...

:lol The funny part is that the last time we saw this line up ( or similar anyway) they netted 6 goals..

About an hour before the Man U game.. I have a weird feeling about this game.

:lol

Moop is an exciting prospect though.

I'm considering watching the manyoo game in the pub, should be fun (I live just outside of Reading. The fancy part might I add)

:lol Starting to look like FA Cup haiku or something.

:lol

we're confident already I see. I predict we're turning you over 7:6, 5 players sent off. Then it will be Moop time for sure.

edit: you must be very pleased that Bentley penned a new deal today btw. Great news for Blackburn.

Man U Reading about to kick off......Hopefully Saha could regain some form here...sigh Richardson is in I hope he doesn't **** up ( maybe he'll score a goal to spite me)

Here's the line up

-----------Van Der Sar-----------------

Brown--Ferdinand--Silvestre--Hienze

Park----Fletcher---O'Shea----Richardson

----------Solskjaer--Saha-------------

HIENZE GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 2 minutes in

5:16 GOAL - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

3:42 GOAL - Louis Saha

1:57 GOAL - Gabriel Heinze

Less than 6 minutes in and it's 3-0? And Americans complain soccer doesn't have enough scoring.

I don't care about Reading either way, I've just like seeing teams get a real drubbing every so often. Like when United beat Ipswich 9-0 or Blackburn beat Notts Forest 7-0.

I think United are missing on purpose now, they feel sorry for them.

well, I'm glad I changed my mind and didn't go to the pub.

I wish I'd bought some paint to watch it dry instead. That would be nearly as exciting as the rest of this game is going to be.

Mama Smurf said:
You're defending's been pretty crap, but you've had quite a few chances to score a 4th.
Yeah Saha's shot that hit the post was the best of those.. our back line looks akward...

Fine, I'll look it up myself. Guess I need to set the TiVo for extra time tomorrow just in case.
