'Broadcast material indicates that Essien cuffed Denilson on the face, and Drogba slapped the back of Cesc Fabregas' head. The FA also has access to film that was not broadcast on the day. If the FA is prepared to follow the letter of the law, and risk the wrath of Chelsea and their lawyers, Drogba and Essien should be suspended for three games, the penalty for "violent conduct".'

The Guardian said:Arsenal and Chelsea charged after Carling Cup brawl
Eboué and Adebayor also face personal charges

Arsenal and Chelsea have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following the brawl towards the end of the Carling Cup final on Sunday.
The FA charge alleges that the clubs failed to ensure that their "players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour". The clubs have until March 14 to respond.
Arsenal's Kolo Touré and Emmanuel Adebayor and Chelsea's John Obi Mikel were all sent off in the closing minutes of the game following a mass ruckus, though Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboué, who allegedly punched Wayne Bridge, escaped punishment at the time.
Eboué, however, must now answer a violent conduct charge in connection with the incident. It is thought that Adebayor was sent off because referee Howard Webb thought he was responsible for the punch on Bridge, but the decision to pursue Eboué does not mean the Togolese striker is in the clear - his furious reaction to his red card, and his initial refusal to leave the pitch, have led to him being hit with a personal charge too. Both players, according to an FA statement, have until 6pm tomorrow to respond, with a disciplinary commision to hear Eboué's case on Thursday, with Adebayor's to be heard on Tuesday March 6.
The club's appeals against red cards shown to Adebayor and Mikel are currently being heard, with a decision expected later this afternoon.
I think you're right. Adebayor appealed, Toure didn't. Eboué is facing new charges. That would mean that Toure is definitely out (I think), whereas I'm not sure where the other two stand.Mama Smurf said:I didn't think Toure appealed, did he?
We have had a bit of luck this season; that fulham game was a perfect example, but every league winning team needs a bit of luck. Chelsea are the bigggest example of that. How many times have they avoided penalties being given against them and scored deflected goals? Knowing mourinho he probably is complaining. Its a poor attempt at criticising United.Ghost said:Dont think he's actually compaining, he's just saying you have the luck this season, which, after watching the fulham game, is definitely true. As he says "That's football".
Injuries stack up for FA Cup replay at Blackburn

By Richard Clarke
Arsène Wenger has been forced to make numerous changes in his squad for the FA Cup Fifth Round replay at Blackburn on Wednesday night.
The Arsenal manager could be without as many as 10 first-team players and, as a result, may take some of his Carling Cup youngsters to Ewood Park.
There are plenty of changes but it will still be a strong team, the Frenchman told Arsenal.com on Tuesday.
We have lots of injuries. We dont have Adebayor (suspended), Thierry Henry (foot) and Tomas Rosicky (groin). At Cardiff on Sunday we also lost Abou Diaby through an ankle injury and Kolo Toure who was sent off. Fabregas will be rested as well.
The injuries dont end there. Justin Hoyte is troubled by a hamstring strain picked up at the Millennium Stadium, Johan Djourou is struggling with an ankle complaint while Mathieu Flamini is doubtful with a foot problem.
Robin van Persie will definitely miss the game of course. His prognosis is still anything between four and eight weeks because of the broken metatarsal he suffered against Manchester United on January 21.
Fortunately Wenger has some experienced players in need of games.
William Gallas is coming back, he said, so are Hleb and Ljungberg. They will be involved. Denilson will be there aswell. Clichy (foot) is in the squad but I am not sure he will play.
