IGN gave the game a 8.4......but its one of those "IGN Exclusive($$$)" reviews so i would take it another point lower for true score.

I don't know about that. A few mags like Gamereacter and OXM gave it an 8. IGN x360 called it the best Naruto videogame ever made. And IGN wii gave their naruto game an 8.4 as well, right after saying its pretty much the same as the gamecube game.

Interesting.

Yes, yes, you're not excited for the game, we get it at this point.

Its a Fighter for that alone i am fairly excited. I am just not a blind fanboy. This game could go eitherway. I will probably pick it up tommorow and post so unbias impressions.

so I'm watching Shippuuden for the first time to get me excited for this game.... and its working.. I have 3 sealed games right now... thanks to toys r us b2g1 free deal.. eternal sonata, halo 3, and blue dragon... and I'm getting V5 and Naruto this week... sigh.. so much backlog.. I'm loving this fall season so far :D

Found the following video of what looks to be the final version of the game. Looks like a fight between Sasuke and Gaara. The guy is obviously just trying out all of Sasuke's movesets. The sound really adds to the sense of impact that seemed to be lacking in some of the earlier builds. Spoilers if you don't want to know anything :)

i noticed some things in that review that didn't ring true as well

Just finished episode 65, and the
Chunin Exam tournament is awesome. Loved Naruto's beatdown on Neji, and I'm super pumped for Sasuke's match with Gaara.
If I didn't have work in the morning, I'd pull and all nighter and just finish the last 15 episodes right here and now. But I'll save that for later tonight.

Just picked up the game here in The Netherlands, popped it in, and I'm about to play! :)

And just like I thought, the release trailer from yesterday is also the attract video for the game when you let it sit on the main menu...

Again, it's a really nice touch that they totally kept the soundtrack for the game for every little thing, including the main menu...

Trying to see real quick if I still can remember my Ubi account to download Shikamaru...

Just got my review copy, expect videos as soon as the embargo is lifted. I wish all publishers realized that the web is international and give the same embargos everywhere...

The game is absolutely gorgeous in 1080p - very vibrant and sharp!

Just finished my first fight, and I guess every video I've seen thus far on the game have been 30fps vids, because the game already looks ultra smooth with no slowdowns, tearing, or a single jaggie, but when I had my first fight, the 60fps really shined with the fast pacing of the fights...

The game really is a beauty in motion... impressive stuff Ubisoft!

Wait, what?

Where did you pick it up?!

Edit: I can't read earlier posts.

Speaking of, does the DS game feature a similar fighting game approach? Like is it more insanely fun combos than kick punch kick?

The one by Treasure plays very similar to Guilty Gear. I was surprised at how good it is.

The DS games are a couple of the best 2D fighting games since the 90s.

I've never played a Guilty Gear, but if you've seen that IGN video review, is the fighting like that? (But obviously less graphically, erm, robust?)

Tell that to MS with their US-only video marketplace.

The web is getting regionalized day after day.

i played it in the shop today and am picking my copy up from the shop tomorrow, he wouldnt let me have it 4 days early but said 3 was ok as long as i didnt tell anyone on the internet he broke street date :lol

So is the adventure part of the game 30fps, and the fighting 60? or is the whole game 60?

I was expecting the game to be 30fps for everything.

Hmm, which game are we talking about now? lol

kind of bummed about the SP portion being so short. Oh well, at least it sounds/looks like it'll be enjoyable. Should have my copy by weeks end.

Well the review said 6-7 hours or around that, and then the guy said you can continue to play to unlock missed achiements and missions.

I'm sure theres people out there who will only do the main quests and end up beating the game in 4 hours then complain it was too short...

Well that's a matter where MS can't really do much. The rights for video and audio content are like that and they simply can't go over it without angering some very powerful companies.

well yeah, one of my friends already has the game and he said it took him around 3 hours or so to get to the
chuunin exams
. I don't know, guess I was just expecting a bit more length from the SP(main quests), like 10 hours or so. Considering they were covering 80 episodes and such. I don't really care for the optional missions, since they're mostly just more errand boy runs, no? Not that big of a deal I guess. Sure wouldn't be the first game I've played this gen that had a short SP.

Anyway, not that big of a deal, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit bummed. Oh wellz, just means more time invested in the MP portion :p

Bleach DS, the one they just released in NA? Blade Of Something?

Yeah, that one is a lot more combo oriented. They've actually got a mission type mode in it where you're required to do some pretty crazy stuff. If you've never played Guilty Gear and you like this game, go pick up guilty gear afterwards :D.

Thanks, dude! I'll definitely give it a shot. I figure Bankais offer up an enormous amount of material for those sorts of attacks. Anyway. Back to Naruto.

:D

Well you earn stuff and money to upgrade with, so it would be like grinding I guess. Might get extra items too.

Just finished the SP in 5 hours and done a lot of the optional missions. Rushed through the first 2 hours, because I already played that in the preview version. So I guess normally it would take about 6 to 7 hours.

Btw the ending hints that Ubisoft will be doing a sequel. :)

How many characters can you play through in the Forest of Death sequences?

That's what I figured. It occured to me that only going up to 80 would be
kind of a downer
.

A sequel needs to be Path of the Ninjas or something.

Going through the Rescue Sasuke arc only doing the Naruto fights would be incredibly boring. It became more focused on the Konoha Army than Naruto alone after episode 80.

Gameinformer review is up.

http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/89A5027F-C8B7-406B-AFE0-298B79076CD3.htm

8.0

The second opinion is interesting in that the reviewer clearly states that he finds all things Naruto distasteful and cliché, but despite the source material he can't deny that Ubisoft Montréal made a decent, polished game. That sounds like the problem for this game in the long run. Naruto has a fan base, but it also has an even larger base that just can't stand it.

The figthing is 60 frames per second constant, no slowdown. Single player mode, outside of fighting, is 30 FPS.

True but I do like how in this game you are Naruto and Naruto only. Sadly yes it does leave room for milking. Can you say "Sasuke's Trail, only on PSP!"...ugh.

Well I finished up to episode 80 just moments ago. What a great run that was. I'm totally in love with this show now.

Gaara vs. Naruto was great. I especially loved how Sasuke was basically shitting himself the whole time. :lol Yeah, you're not so hot are ya? Felt really bad for Gaara though. The fight between Orochimaru and the Third was awesome, though them dragging out the death scene for four or five episodes was hilarious (like Namek blowing up in "five minutes" spread across 10 episodes in DBZ bad). But yeah, it does end on a downer.

Can't wait to finish watching the rest of the show, and move onto Shippuden. On what episode does filler hell begin?

Oh, and bring on RoaN! Can't wait to play it. :D

Ubi only has the rights to create Naruto games on Xbox 360.

Oh just wait for Part 2. The story has been getting better every week for the past couple of months. Kishimoto is speeding things up.
