Official Naruto: Rise of a Ninja thread - Dattebelieve it!

Im only upto the
Zabuza
fight so far and I think it isnt bad, but also not this "amazing western take on anime game which are supposed to be shit and now its amazing". In terms of exploring the area, it seems very basic and kind of boring so far, I havent unlocked the sprint yet so im hoping that will make running around more fun, but in NH3 running around Konoha was more fun so far. Personally I think the combat in the game is the worst compared to the other main Naruto games, it reminds me most of an improved version of the 3D DS fighting game (which I think was the worst Naruto game so far). The fighting isnt terrible, but it isnt nearly as fun as the GNT or NH games, it feels very sluggish compared to both of those other games. While I am enjoying the game and all that, I still think that they made a huge mistake with the game and that is the camera, it is the exact kind of camera I hate in a game. If you just use the left analog stick, it always tries to be behind you and that always doesnt work, yet if you try and control your look with the right analog stick while you are running (to look for coins) you have to fight with the damn automatic camera they have in place, it is impossible to run towards the camera without fighting with the camera using the right analog stick.

im going to play more later tonight, but so far it is alright but I dont see this apparent leap in quality from a normal anime game yet.

Konoha is a LOT bigger than in any other Naruto game but that doesn't really mean much as far as gameplay goes.

The camera is a bitch too. Still, it's really fun. Speed boost does help for ramen delivery.

I wish they said ramen correctly :(

Only just beat
Haku
last night, and I'm loving the game so far. Konoha is massive and awesome to explore. The fight engine is really fun and strategic; more of a sim of what the combat in the anime is actually like rather than the fast paced Naruto fighters I've played in the past. The visuals are gorgeous, and the music is spot on. The english dub, and poorly abridged anime sequences are the only things bringing it down so far (cannot wait for the japanese dub to hit XBL).

Ubi has a framework here for a superb franchise if they can tighten up a few things. And if they get rid of the anime cutscenes, maybe they'd have room on the disc for the japanese VAs right ouf the box. Their cutscenes that are rendered with the in-game engine are far superior than the anime scenes anyway, so it's not like it would be a big loss.

Can't wait to play more tonight. I'd love to try out XBL play, but my router is giving me big problems, and I'm only able to connect to the internet on one pc in my house. =/

yeah, I wish they included something else to do in Konoha.

I cant tell what is more boring, the pseudo dating sim from NH3 or giving people ramen, collecting coins, and giving lonely guys hard ons.

Play.com say they are still packing my game for postage, the game is released in the uk tomorrow and i'll probably have to wait untill saturday to play it :(

Collecting herbs and being forced to play as naruto the whole time are the only things that bother me. Have no prob with the camera and i love the anime cut-scenes even if they do skip insane amounts of stuff and go to something that happened in like 3 eps further in the story .

This game is the perfect Naruto game for me, I hated NH's combat system and GNT I couldnt find much competition (all my friends hate Naruto) so this game is a perfect balance of everything.

Getting to the top of the tower should be an achievement though took me like 2 hours (was fun as heck though). Not having the camera problems anyone else is having though, only complaint I have is some abusable moves but thats about it.

Great Game, truly a must buy for any Naruto fan in my book as it does the best job of making you feel in the show more then any anime game before it. And this isnt some sort of fanboy statement like people make with terrible games like bleach for the wii, believe it!

who do you play as? maybe we could set up a fight sometime :P

Curse of the gawdz- we dunno yet since they aren't out :(

Seriously, this game is brilliant, and a must-have for any Naruto fan...

Right now I'm in
the first elimination stage of the Chuunin Exam, where you have to get the two scrolls
and from the beginning till now has been nothing but fun so far - again, the world really looks beautiful, but later on you get some really fun and challenging platforming bits...

Anyone who plans on completing this game 100% will have a handful as the side missions alone are plentiful and are a nice challenge, but the coins are all over the place too - I definitely will though, this game deserves it...

We realize, that one of the most asked questions was “Will Naruto: Rise of a Ninja feature the Japanese voices?” And while that question has been asked again and again, we haven’t been able to respond until now that we have final confirmation. It is my great pleasure to finally officially confirm that Japanese voices will be available for Naruto: Rise of a Ninja in a free post-launch download. Here is a short list of some of the cast that will be lending their voices:

* Junko Takeuchi - Uzumaki Naruto
* Kazuhiko Inoue - Hatake Kakashi
* Chie Nakamura - Haruno Sakura
* Noriaki Sugiyama - Uchiha Sasuke
* Kujira - Orochimaru
* Akira Ishida - Sabaku no Gaara

The list above is only some of the Japanese voices cast that will be included in the game. So don’t worry if your favorite character isn’t listed above, the ENTIRE GAME will be in Japanese. This includes Story Mode, Fight Mode, all your favorite characters, the NPC Leaf Village characters as well as the anime cut scenes!

The final thing I’d like to point out, is that you do not need a Xbox Live Gold account to download this. A free Silver account will work as well, so don’t worry!

*sigh of relief*

I think I'll have to take my 360 on a trip to Grandma's to download this. How about confirming a release date now, Mr. Community Manager? "Sometime after launch" isn't really cutting it.

Excellent. I'll pick up the game tomorrow then. I hope the DLC becomes available soon.

I play as Rock Lee mostly but I wanna try to get good with Gaara soon.

So many Rock Lee and Sasuke players though.

I met a naruto guy who would do this combo that pushed me back then did sexy no jutsu level 1 or 2 over and over, it was really cheap and quite pathetic on his part.

That's how you do it. Well done Ubisoft. :)

I think gaara is by far the highest tier and i don't think sexy jutsu/genjutsu is cheap :P

I faced a guy who did the same thing and its not too hard to counter.

Yes - they finally confirm that it'll be 100% Japanese, even though I expected that they wouldn't half-ass it - good stuff Ubisoft!

Oh, and fort those who don't know, Shikamaru and the six JPN voices listed above are supposed to be available tomorrow, all for free of course...

Will be nice to toggle between the two now and again just for a change, I've only seen like two episodes in english so i'll probably play the game like that.

Trying to learn sasuke and i like his combos ect but wth does sharingan actually do? i thought it was like gaaras sand armor but it doesn't work that way is it just a lame version?

If my gaming budget was already blown for 2007, I'd have this game (hianv a 10 month old does that). BUt sadly I may have to put this on my B-List next to PGR4, Ace Combat 6 and Sega Rally Revo. I had to take VF5 over this, but it is on my must by list. Here's keeing my fingers crossed that when the in-laws come to visit for X-Mas, they hook me up with the gift certificates. ;)

Man, I want this game SO bad!! I've hear nothing but good things about it, and how people are saying Ubisoft did the license justice. I want to support the title to ensure we get a sequel. I'm surprised I haven't seen any advertising on Cartoon Network........

Just a question but does Naruto say Believe It a lot in the game? That's one of my issues with the dub. I don't find dattebayo as annoying because I don't understand it so it can't aggravate me as much. If I was Japanese I'd probably want to hurl something at the TV.

yes he does... and boy is he annoying

I cant wait to turn on some japanese audio.

dattebayo doesn't mean 'believe it', it means nothing... naruto makes it up and says it to emphasize what hes saying.

The game isn't very well voice-directed. The only one that seems pretty decent is Kakashi, for some reason they replaced the Third with a generic asian guy who speaks in a thick accent.

That's racist!

I thought he was one of the better voices in the show :(

I thought the only guy who was any good in the english version (From the videos I saw) was Sauske. Kakashi sounds horrible with strange pauses, i couldnt' stand it.

Japanese voices DLC ftw.

Aw, boo. Kakashi and the Third are really good in the anime.

Yeah, I think Yuri Lowenthal reprises his role as Sasuke in the game, but he doesn't have a whole lot of lines.

I know it doesn't mean "Believe it" and is something made up. But having a made up word at the end of every other sentence, in a language I understand, would be really annoying. Just like Shouta says.

Anyway, I've decided it's stupid to buy this at $60 when I have so many others games to finish. I'll just pick it up as soon as I see it at Rogers Video's 2 for $40 sale. Hopefully along with The Simpson's Game or something.

Jiraiyas voice actor is not the same as the US one either...why? It's the same actor as the Third in the game...

So weird that they didn't even use the same US voice actors

Kakashi whooped my ass big time early on. Went to Vs. mode to try some other characters and I must say they stay true to the source material. Rock Lee= too fucking fast, sharigan= blocks way to many attacks, sexy no jutsu= sometimes naked!

Shouta said:
God, dattebayo doesn't. It sticks out so bad when he speaks.

when you dont understand any words being spoken, it would be hard to tell what sticks out and what doesnt.

while I am no fan of dattebayo, I think Believe It is far worse, especially because the english voice chosen for Naruto makes it sound like he has to take a dump but is constantly holding it in.
