Official NFL Offseason Thread: Come back NFL! Come... back...

He's interviewed for I think 9 head coach positions and has never been chosen. Wonder how he ****s up the interviews.

edit: B&B (on the Score in Chicago) seemed to have some inside info that Rivera had pissed in one too many shoes in the last year. They (the Bears) were hoping he'd get a head coaching gig somewhere this offseason so it wouldn't come to this.

Actually Niner fans are always around, it's the Bengals fans that just randomly disappear as things turn south.

Me and iapetus are always around for the Jags though!
I'm the only Raider fan left from the original OT that still posts in the thread. :(

At least Karakand is here! I expect lost of bandwagoners during the pre-season, though.... then they'll disappear during the regular season. :\

Glad Turner went to SD. Hope he ruins them and this time he has no excuses because they're still a power team.

Now which Gohan are you talking about? Kid Gohan or adult Gohan, because adult Gohan was a wuss.

Why haven't the Giants cut Chad Morton and Tim Carter yet? Jeez.

soulja224466, how did Sehorn cost you a SuperBowl?

Morton was cut like... Tuesday... ...

TM, True...where is Atlanta going with their 10th pick? Are we trading our pro bowl backup QB lol for a first or second round pick? Do we go WR, safety or RB?

DCX

Oh and whoever said Chicago probably lowballed Rivera/should have offered him more money, it was reported today that he wouldn't have been back at any price.

It had nothing to do with money.

In an interview today Rivera kept asking "How many people can be cut by the same organization three times?"
He sounded pissed.

god that franchise doesn't know what to do with it's coaches. Dick Jauron goes 13-3 and gets canned

ummm dick jauron did not get canned after his 13-3 season, the bears signed him to an extension after the 2001 season, the bears missed the playoffs the next 2 seasons after that, the bears went 4-12 in 2002 and 7-9 in 2003

with the bears he was 35-45 in the regular season, 0-1 in the playoffs, and he stuck by the worst offensive coordinator in recent memory John Poop, i think him being fired was totally justified

get your facts straight before posting bullshit

I have no idea what we are going to do with our pick. I forsee a big change coming with our O-Line, so I wouldn't be upset if we picked up a good lineman with our first pick. If not a lineman, then I think we may need to look at a corner or safety. The only receiver I want from the draft is Calvin and the chances of him being around are pretty much none. I want to say I would give up Schaub for the chance to get Johnson. We need to get something decent for Schaub if we are going to lose him.

you dont think lovie had his hands in on the defense scheme/gameplanning/calling?
C'mon dude, I'm not an idiot. I said I didn't think he did any playcalling, of course I expect the head coach to have some kind of input into the gameplan.

That said, the Bears D really fell apart after the loss of Mike Brown, and I suspect that that may play a big part in not bringing him back next year.

I hope we sign Leonard Davis.

Trade Schaub and the number 10 to Cleveland for the 3 and their 3rd round pick. Calvin with the third pick goes to us, draft a OL and a S in the second round :)

for sure

the loss of mike brown and tommie harris hurt the defense bad

What are the odds of LaRon Landry (S-LSU) falling to down to the Bears pick?

=/

my brother is thinking the same way as you, but i doubt that he falls that far

mel kiper has him going number 10 right now in his mock draft

Zero. Unless, I don't know, he breaks both of his femurs before the combine.

Yeah, but my point is that if he was such a valuable DC, he would have made adjustments elsewhere. The Ravens, for example, played games without Ray Lewis and were able to adjust.

I really don't think any Bear fan will miss Rivera. I'm looking forward to seeing what Babich brings to the table, if anything.

Look forward to hearing what nicknames Chicagoans come up with for "Babich". Seems the possibilties are endless. :lol

I really hope the Vikings trade down. There just isnt a reciever worth taking at 7. Jarrett is too slow and Ginn isnt even gonna be the best pro reciever from this years Buckeyes team.

Trade down and grab Meacham. :-o

Slo said:
Or.....trade up to grab Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson.

You should be able to grab one or the other by the time you pick.

In fact, before you I don't think anyone has a huge need at DL, I don't think the Bucs are gonna use their first round pick to try and get younger. Actually, maybe Washington just before you might take one. AZ needs OLine help big time but Thomas will be gone by then. Eh I could see them going DL or maybe even LB. I like Dansby (one of the more athletic LBs in the league) but who else compliments him? I like their secondary, and uh, that's it. Wow needs at OL, DL, and LB. :lol

God please just let the Giants get Timmons. I swear I will go to church every sunday BEFORE watching football!

Are you kidding me? All this thread seems to be is Giants, 49ers, and Bears talk, with a few other teams sprinkled in here and there. :P

So DCX, I like your idea on the draft. I have confidence that Johnson will turn out to be a good receiver. If he was able to produce from passes from Reggie Ball, then him and Vick could be the next Culpepper and Moss or Montana and Rice even. :D

vick the next culpepper?

sounds about right :lol

I like how Micheal Vick can bring the most bitter rivals to agree on something :lol :lol :lol

Yea right, that will eventually happen again. The 6th seed thing.
It is pretty hard to win three games on the road in the playoffs. This record will last longer than you suspect.

I would have mentioned the Dolphins undefeated season as a record that will last forever, but all the evidence points to that record biting the dust when the Steelers go 19-0 next year.

bionic77 said:
There will never be another team like the 2006 Bengals.

Just like the Steelers will likely remain the only 6 seed to ever win the Superbowl.

Don't you mean steel the superbowl? ;)

That is what I did. Went to post at Texans forums not too many people here are interested in Texans off-season talk. Just like I am not interested in 49ers, Giants, or Tampa Bay talk. But this thread is cool when there is a big Monday night game or Sunday night game.

Are you wearing your cum proof pants, FMT?

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/patriots/?p=983

Adalius Thomas is beyond a perfect fit. Not only does he have experience as an on-the-line outside ‘backer, but his versatility is absolutely mind blowing. Playing under innovative Baltimore coordinator Rex Ryan, Thomas played down on the line inside and out, up on the line, off the line at ‘backer and even in the secondary in 2006. But the guess here is that he’ll be too costly — San Francisco and Mike Nolan, Ryan’s predecessor as Ravens DC, are thought to covet him and expected to open the vault to secure his services.

Tell me all about the Texans!!

Hey man, I will talk about whatever team, as long as it isn't the Broncos (Most boring team in football!)

So did anyone hear about LeCharles Bentley's potential career ending injury...?

Btw, someone explain to me how Kam Wimbley with his 11 sacks and 62 tackles didnt make the first-team for Rookies (even while leading in the sack department)? Talk about a bunch of bullshit! At least big E made it -- well deserved boy.

For those of you who like the OLB/DE-type that Kam is, look out for Dekoda Watson from FSU in a few years.. kid is gonna be a baller in the pros as well. :D I fully expect Geno Hayes to be our stud in 07-08 with him leaving a year early to go in the 1st round of the draft.

Doesn't it suck knowing that the league hates your team and doesn't believe they deserve a title? I mean, your logic would have to lead you to that ultimate conclusion. :D

Anyway, couple of things: Marty got hosed. Chargers are idiots for either not firing him sooner or just keeping him for one more year. Not that it matters, I'll look forward to them starting 1-4 or something similar.

Something is seriously up with Rivera, there has to be for him to get passed over so much. Either he didn't really want those jobs or he's got some fatal flaw.

Cowher on CBS, and yet, they didn't fire Shannon. Whatever. I dunno if Cowher will fit in there. He'll probably be like Jerome on NBC, the guy that doesn't have much input. He doesn't tell anything like it is, he's too political. Always the master at talking a bunch but not really saying anything.

Well, history has shown that even with a shitty coach coming in that some teams can keep it together for a few years. The Herm Edwards/Bill Parcells Jets, the Jimmy Johnson/Barry Switzer Cowboys, The Mike Holmgren/Mike Sherman Packers, and the Tony Dungy/Jon Gruden Bucs.
