They should not take away the team from New Orleans. I lived in that area for about a year and the people there do love their football and would support a team that was worth a crap. It would be seriously fucked up to move them because of what happened.

The owner has wanted to move for two years because he got fucked over by the city on a new stadium deal.

I say get the hell out while you have an excuse. New Orleans is never going to be the same, and he wanted out to begin with.

"Giants running back Tiki Barber hopes to both hurt and help the Saints on Monday. He has pledged to donate $100 for every yard he gains and $500 for every touchdown he scores against the Saints to Hurricane Katrina relief, the Newark Star-Ledger reported."

Class act...

If this is the case, the Saints should not even tackle him and let him run free.

Darien,

Billick is going to have a shitstorm on his hands if the Ravens win all the games up till Boller comes back. Should be very interesting to see how this plays out.

Yeah it should be a fun ride.

:lol

I've gotten three emails today from the Giants organization about buying tix for Monday's game. I already got them fools!

Good though, I hope it isn't a sellout. Less traffic to contend with on the way back!

So do people in New York get to bitch if the game is blacked out in the New York area if it doesn't sell out, since this game is actually taking place in New Orleans according to the NFL?

NFL WON'T BLACKOUT GIANTS AT SAINTS (AT GIANTS)

Though the NFL hasn't issued a statement to this effect, Profootballtalk.com has been advised by the league office that the Monday night game between the Giants and the Saints at the Meadowlands will be televised in the New York area even if the game is not a sellout.

According to The New York Daily News, no official decision had been made as of Wednesday. And as of Wednesday night, 25,000 seats were unsold.

But in response to a question that we submitted by e-mail regarding the application of the blackout rule to Saints "home" game that was moved to New York, NFL spokesman Steve Alic said that the game will be televised on ABC in the New York and New Orleans markets.

Mother fuck.

Ben Roethlisberger, bruised knee, has been downgraded to questionable for this weekend.

God dammit.

That leaves Tommy Maddox to start.

Fuck.

That's odd, I coulda swore we beat the Chiefs 34-31 and the 49ers 35-3 last year with him at QB.

Your argument to put 28 points up on a top 5 defense in the NFL just soared through the roof. :lol

I think it's quite possible that greasy could throw 28 points worth of passes in the Bills game, only they're all going back the other way. :lol

no fucking way tommy maddux is still on that team?

Roethlisberger questionable? Geez I'm not making any of my picks til Sunday morning. ;)

Yeah, he is. Rumors before week 1 were that he would like to be traded, but wouldn't demand it or even ask for a trade.

edit: As for what's so bad about Maddox starting?

Code:
Ben Roethlisberger 67% 9.9ypa 102.3 1.72TD:INT
Tommy Maddox 57% 6.8ypa 73.7 0.92TD:INT

And, just for fun.

Code:
Eli Manning 47% 5.5ypa 56.2 0.72TD:INT

Look at that, not only is Ben Roethlisberger far better than Eli Manning, but so is Tommy Maddox!

This reminds me of the local sports radio on Wednesday that had people calling up with teams that had a better record than the 0-1 Miami Hurricanes.

Ya know the Baylor Bears have a better record.....

That's exactly the same! Except these are career stats, and not just going by one game with wildly varying opponents. Aside from that, and that these actually show a statistical average and not just a fluke, this is just the exact same thing!

I do not see what you are worried about, Ben will most likely play. But if he does not, no one will miss his 11 passing plays. Parker is still playing, the O-line and Ward is there for blocking, and the last time i checked the Defense is main reason why pittsburgh wins games.

still picking Steelers

There won't be 11 passes if Pittsburgh doesn't jump out to a big lead like they did last week, and Parker's not exactly going to have an easy time if Maddox is back there without the threat of making something happened out of a broken play. Maddox is a poor decision maker, and he freezes up at times and lets it affect him the entire game. If he's on, it'll be fine. But if he gets out of his rhythm early the Texans could take it.

HUGH IS BACK in one form or another. You dont know how happy this makes me.

http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/homeNewsDetail.jsp?id=34857

The team announced Friday that they have appointed Douglas as team ambassador for the 2005 season.

As an ambassador, Douglas will serve as a team representative in the community, locally as well as nationally.

"I am excited to remain a part of the Eagles family," said Douglas. "This city has always felt like home and the fans have always treated me so well. Now I have the opportunity to start something new with the team that I love and still be able to work on various opportunities as they come along."

Also it looks like Mcnabb will play on sunday. I hope this doesnt hurt him in the long run. He is a stubborn guy and he would probably play with this injury regardless of what anyone said.

By the way, was Manning kicking those audibles into another gear on Sunday night or what? Do you think he acts like this in other aspects of his life? Like, if he's eating at a restaurant, does he change his order five times? Is he constantly returning appliances and electronics?

Not with this one though. And here's where you expect me to mention New England's impossible schedule over the next five weeks, how they're the first team in NFL history to play four games on the road in five weeks against teams that averaged 11 wins last season, and how this is doubly ironic since Indy was handed a cream-puff schedule that included a bye right before their Week 9 game in Foxboro. But you know what? I'm classier than that. I would never even think of convoluted ways to bring this stuff up.

all i care about is the 49ers beating the eagles and sending them into a season long slump. go niners!!

Fantasy question: Am I dumb for thinking about sitting Caddy for S. Davis? I'm just afraid that Caddy will be absolutely shut down against the Bills D (remember, if not for that 71-yd TD run, Caddy averaged a pedestrian 2.9 ypc), and I'm also afraid that the Bucs will go to Alex Smith in the end zone instead of Caddy. So, who should I start (this is in the flex position btw)?

i'm just wondering CB, what will you do if the eagles lose? i know it's literally not possible for the eagles to lose to the 49ers, but humor me

p.s. i can already see you reference "welp, take a look @ 2003 when we opened w/ losses to the bucs + pats!"

You got it right the first time. I cant see them losing to the 9ers. Its just not gonna happen. Ill sport a 9ers avatar for the rest of the season if they lose on sunday

I don't like either as a starter this week. I'd think that you're being influenced at least somewhat by the fact that you're a Panthers fan, and that's really the only difference. They'll probably put up similar(poor) numbers, but you may as well go for the team that you're cheering for I suppose. Sure, this is generally a horrible strategy, but if you've got two guys that are about equal, then you may as well not risk finding yourself screaming in anger if Davis beats up on the Pats D.

You Shouldnt be one to talk Panther Boy :D

:lol Oh man, you keep mentioning the panthers like Ive been a fan of them forever.
I'll repeat I only played with them in MADDEN 2005 and watch them because they have Steve Smith and DeShaun Foster (when hes not injured) other than that its been all about the Raiders and Cowboys since I was born. You shouldnt be the one to talk 49er boy, you onyl hopped onto the Eagles Wagon just last year.
Dont deny it either, you had a 49ers banner on your wall since you were a kid.

:lol :lol :lol i dont see a 9ers banner ANYWHERE in my room. And ive been and eagles fan for going on what 5 years now. Pretty much when they drafted McNabb, though that might have been 99'

what a fraud! i guess it's cool to be a 49ers fan when we're competing for the superbowl, not so exciting when we're not! you've been exposed by your own pal as a fairweather fan! for shame.... for shame!

Yeah, you had it in the room of your old house that you moved out of about what? 3 years ago. Funny seeing how I never heard you talk about the Eagles until just last year when they acctually got better.

Eh, the way i remember it i was arguing on this very forum in 2003 about the panthers late hit on Mcnabb. As well as arguing on the Bucs/Rams loss in the NFC championship also. Givin i had a different name then. And i might have had a 9ers Sticker in my room, but so what. I had a chargers blanket as well. Doesnt mean im a chargers fan

I'll repeat I only played with them in MADDEN 2005 and watch them because they have Steve Smith and DeShaun Foster (when hes not injured)

Sounds like a fan to me. your not one to be talking about bandwagons when you were a fan when they went to the superbowl and no where to be seen when they went 1-7 last year. hmmm...

Funny, I wasn't a fan when they went to the superbowl. I just chose THEM over the damn Patriots. Thats about as much FAN as I go. Besides that, using the Panthers in Madden was only because it was the only team I could/wanted to use when beating your Eagles.

Wernt you JUST saying how you wanted to watch the panthers game this weekend? Seem like a fan to me.

Edit: Your interupting my discussion with FMT.
So in the VERY slight chance that the 9ers win on Sunday, you can go ahead and choose a 9er avatar for me. I wont even ask you to have an Eagles Avatar WHEN we win because I feel its not a fair bet for somthing so automatic :)

FrenchMovieTheme said:
it's ok CB, we will accept you back when we win the superbowl. i know it is in your nature to betray us, so we forgive you in advance!

:lol :lol :lol whatever, Rumors spread fast over the internet. He is just trying to counter the fact he is a panther fan.

Edit: AND the fact that right after the 9ers where gonna stomp the raiders in the ground, leaving them 0-3

Guys, some fantasy football help.....

Jevon Walker was one of my player -- I know, I know -- and now I'm stuck with a weak WR corps overall.

Here they are:

Jimmy Smith (Did awesome)
Roy Williams (did nothing for me in week 1)
Greg Lewis
Patrick Crayton

Of the last three, which two should I start this Sunday?

Assuming you're starting three, Smith and Williams are the easy two picks. If McNabb doesn't play, then I could see where you might have a problem. I'd still go with Lewis regardless of the Eagles QB situation, because he's the number 2 on a pass-heavy team. Crayton's third and soon to be falling on a run-oriented team, plus he's facing a much better defense.

Crayton's game this weekend was a fluke. He'll be a total non-factor once Price gets into the swing of things.

I had him last year on my fantasy team last year. He is boom or bust, but much better than Greg Lewis and Crayton
