One more, guys:

Byron Leftwich or Daunte Culpepper?

Daunte is playing against the Bengals (@Cin) while Byron is playing the Colts (@Ind). Daunte is the sole reason why I lost my week 1 match-up against my opponent. Had I started Byron, I would have won.

What do you guys think?

I havn't really followed Cincinatti's defense lately, but I'm pretty sure they are better than the Colts. Colts played phenomenal last week though. Uhh.. Maybe someone else can give a better opinion lol

there is no way i would start leftwich over culpepper. dante may have cost you the game last week, but you always start the players who are expected to perform best, you can't go by what happened last week. you dont know if he just had an off-game and leftwich just had an abberation (awesome) game. start culpepper, the choice is easy.

Culpepper's stilll the right choice, but the Colts gave up 300+ yards passing last week. They didn't play well at all. The Baltimore offense is quite simply that putrid that they couldn't score.

In fact, the Colts gave up more first downs, a higher 3rd down conversion rate, passing yards and total offensive yards to the Ravens than the Colts themselves had.

that list is a joke. redskins at the END of the 'middle of the pack' category?

roofles. we're just beginning our march to the superbowl, and cowboys fans across the world are going to remember what it's like to play against a real, hardhitting joe gibbs team come monday night!

The middle of the pack list is in alphabetical order, which is why they are at the end.

7. Tampa Bay (1-0): Carnell Williams ' lightning-quick legs are something to behold. But how about that vaunted Bucs defense?

9. Buffalo (1-0): With an outstanding defense and Willis McGahee, the Bills simply need J.P. Losman to be as poised and efficient as he was vs. Houston and they'll go a long way.

Last Weeks Record: 8-8
This weeks scary trend, too many road picks. On to the analysis.

Baltimore at Tennessee 1:00 p.m. – The Ravens offense shouldn’t have to worry about who’s playing QB, their RB’s should have a field day. The Titan’s D-line is so young/inexperienced that they’re going to give up some big yards (see last week against the Steelers 3rd string HB).

Buffalo at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m. – I’ll take the Bills over the Bucs in a very tightly fought game. The Bucs have the advantage of being at home and their defense will be the toughest test Losman has seen in the NFL. But the Bills defense is better overall and is the best in the league at forcing turnovers. Cadillac Williams was averaging less than 3 yards per carry against the Vikings until his 71 yard run at the end of that game and the Bills can shut him down.

Detroit at Chicago 1:00 p.m. – The Lions’ defense did a good job against the Packers last week and that team was much better equipped to score than the Bears. Harrington didn’t look great against a flimsy Green Bay defense but he was making some plays with Pollard at TE. That should be just enough.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m. - I’ll take the Colts because they’re in the dome and because the defense, particularly the run defense, looked good against Baltimore. If this game was in Jacksonville I might have picked differently because the Jags looked good last week and always play Indy tough.

Minnesota at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m. – The Bengals were given a run for their money by the Browns and their defense still looks too soft. The Vikings should be able to get the offense started again and win an entertaining shoot-out in Cinncy.

New England at Carolina 1:00 p.m. – NE has had too long to prepare for this game and you know they’ll be motivated to put a hurting on a trendy Super Bowl pick. Carolina can’t be counted out completely but they were contained almost the entire game against the Saints.

Pittsburgh at Houston 1:00 p.m. – Should be smooth sailing for the Steelers even on the road. Their defense will handle the Texans and they should be able to bulldoze with their offense, whether Big Ben is dinged up or not. Sorry Houstonians, it looks like the team is regressing due to some poor defensive moves and David Carr is so inconsistent it’s starting to spell B.U.S.T.

San Francisco at Philadelphia 1:00 p.m. – “Fat Andy” > “Mad Martz” Philly’s D played good enough to win on Monday night but the offense was stymied. That won’t happen against the 49ner’s and T.O. is probably faming at the mouth to embarrass his former team.

Atlanta at Seattle 5 p.m. – Seattle made some bad moves in the off-season and their window of opportunity appears closed. Their offense isn’t going to do any better against the Falcons than against the Jags and they won’t be able to contain DVD.

St. Louis at Arizona 4:05 p.m. – Kurt Warner will be motivated to light-up Martz for basically running him out of town. The Cardinals defense played well against the Giants in the first half and if they can do it for a complete game they’ll win this thing. Denny Green needs to commit to the running game even if it takes a while to get going.

Cleveland at Green Bay 4:15 p.m. – ***Upset Special*** I’m gonna go out on a limb say this is where Romeo gets win #1. The Browns hung in there against the Bengals until the 3rd quarter and if they make better use of Droughns and Suggs (forget William Green) they should be able to control the game against the Packers. Farve is without his most dangerous weapon and playing in Lambau isn’t much of an advantage anymore.

Miami at N.Y. Jets 4:15 p.m. – Great win for Saban’s team last week but I refuse to believe the Jets are as bad they looked against KC (though that was pretty funny). Abraham is starting again on the D-Line and Ty Law looked to be in good form, they should be able to force some turnovers against Furrote.

San Diego at Denver 4:15 p.m. – Denver barely showed up last week and played a miserable game all around. The Chargers looked okay last week but their (poorly timed) suspension of Gates cost them that game (which I’m pleased to have predicted). They’ll turn things back around this week with a win on the road; turning up the heat on the Bronco’s coaching staff and front office.

Kansas City at Oakland 8:30 p.m. – Kansas City’s D looked much improved against the Jets while Oakland’s gave up a lot of yards through the air to the Pats. KC has the weaponry to control this game and the Radier’s need to come up with a better offensive gameplan than “bomb it to Moss.”

N.Y. Giants at New Orleans 7:30 p.m. – This is another tough game to pick but I’ll give the Giants the nod because they’re at home (lets be real) and I think their tandem of Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs will be able to move the ball on the ground even better than Caroline did last week. The Saint’s offense can be explosive but they have some significant injuries at TE, Strahan is working against a rookie tackle (though a 1st rounder), and the Giant’s run defense looked solid in week one. But it’s tough to gage how much the Saint’s emotions will push them to succeed, they were in control almost the whole game against the Panthers. Their defense played a physical style against Caroline that could hurt the Giant’s rhythm on offense, especially if Shockey is not 100%.

Washington at Dallas 9:00 p.m. – For the record the NFL should cool it with Dallas-Washington on Monday night football every year; it’s just not very interesting anymore. Dallas gets the nod because they have a much more balanced team. The ‘Skin’s offense is dysfunctional; they won’t/can’t take advantage of Portis and their receivers are neither tall nor playmakers. They would need to force Bledsoe into making some ridiculous turnovers to pull this one out and Parcell’s seems to know how to keep him safe.

Sorry, but the Panthers weren't contained by the Saints, the Panthers lost the game because of stupid mistakes. 350 total yards (141 rushing, 209 passing) is not being "contained." 8 of 13 third-down conversions is not being contained. Holding one of the league's best rushers to 64 yards and 2.5 ypc (albeit giving up two TDs) is being contained. The Saints didn't beat the Panthers, the Panthers beat themselves.

After every game Panther Fans say the samething, does any team every beat the Panters???

The panthers are a bad team so most people expect them to make stupid mistakes that cost them the game on a weekly basis. Its nothing out of the ordinary and I dont see any reason it will change.

still upset. :lol :lol

yeah, and the Eagles aren't a bad team cause they only fuck up on a yearly basis.

Come on, if either Proehl or Smith had kept their feet inbounds or Smith wasn't called for a phantom offensive pass interference call, the Panthers would've won the game. I'm not saying the Panthers are going to go 15-1 now or something like that, just that the Saints were very lucky to win that game.

The saints made just as many dumbass mistakes, especially around the red zone. The saints TRIED to beat themselves, you wouldnt let them.

What do you mean just as many dumbass mistakes? Aaron Brooks had his one required dumbass fumble and that's about it.

Off the top of my head, the fumble recovery at the end of the first half where they decided to show off some nfl street skillz and start pitching the ball around only to lose it, i think they had second fumble after an int (during the same play just like the previous one), a bunch of 3rd down penaltys and the play you mentioned.

Damn I am upset that the 1 PM games all rock, but the 4 PM games are all blah. Sunday ticket gets owned this week. :(

I plan on catching the Balt, Indy, Philly, Buff, and Minn games at 1. Probably San Diego and Denver at 4. :(

:lol :lol :lol I love those plays. The panthers would get like 20 yards up, pass 10 yards back, run another 15 yards up and pass another 10 yards back. I was rolling watching that :lol :lol :lol

...he was talking about the Saints...

Ok Well the Panthers did the same thing at the end of the game. Any team that does that looks so desperate its not even funny :lol :lol Ok it is

Yo! Fantasy GAF, I need yer help. I have a TE logjam- Shockey, Troupe or Alex Smith. Shockey is banged up but should see action, and Troupe as we know is ALWAYS hurt. Who do you start?

Yes you are. He's against the Bills D! I'd start Shockey. Unless he's dead. You drafted him high for a reason, and he's playing the Saints.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's games...The Ravens couldn't have possibly have a better bounce-back game than the Titans, and that's why I'm nervous. It seems too easy. Also, the Titans weren't expecting to be as bad as they were in week 1 this year, so I'm worried they'll come out strong. :( Here's hoping Wright stays under control.

The Sunday night game should be a good one, and the 4:15 monster of a showdown between GB and CLE will have everyone tuned in, am I right?! :lol Hopefully I don't do as poorly as I did in the GAF Experts league last week (6-16!!)

Yeah, I've decided to start Shockey for a couple of reasons:
1) TB is playing the Bills and the Titans are playing the Ravens.
2) It's fun having someone going Monday. Makes yer opponent sweat if he has a slight lead. I also have Washington's D, so it should be fun.

As fired up as Carolina will be to play host to the defending world champion Patriots, nobody will be any more fired up than Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith.

For the first time since Super Bowl XXXVIII, Smith gets the chance to meet up with Patriots cornerback Tyrone Poole, whom he accused of spitting on him during the big game. Smith has been awaiting this day, promising this summer he would extract his revenge on the field.

This is a long-standing feud, dating back to the first plays of Super Bowl XXXVIII. On the first play, Poole jammed Smith and busted his lip. On the next play, Smith stiff-armed Poole to the ground. And then, according to Smith, the spit started flying.

It will keep coming Sept. 18, when Smith and Poole finally get to meet up again. And Smith already has proven he is back from the injury that ended his 2004 season, catching eight passes for 138 yards and one touchdown during a Week 1 loss to New Orleans.

But now Smith has more motivation. For as much as Smith wanted to prove he has fully returned from his injury, he now will want some retribution for an act he has not forgotten from Super Bowl XXXVIII.

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/8841716

Cosequently, Mr. Poole did not make the trip to Charlotte.

edit: Interesting stat from SportsCenter...3 of the last 4 Super Bowl winners started the season 0-1 (the trend being broken last year with the Pats).

AHHH! Why on every fucking football program every day do I have to hear about Terrell goddamn Owens. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!!! damnit

Yeah because we didn't get enough of hearing about how many times T.O. left the pratice field to take a shit, and the rest of Eagles shaninagans(sp?) all summer.

Anyone keeping a tally of their picks? I'd like to see how we all fair by year's end. For the record, I was 8-8...makes me glad I'm not picking via the spread. :lol

Sunnday, Sep. 18th

Monday, Sep. 19th
NY Giants at New Orleans, 7:30 p.m.
Washington at Dallas, 9:00 p.m.

This might be the only week this year I pick against the Pats...I think the Panthers will want to make up for the game they threw away last week. Plus they are at home. But I'm sure I'll be wrong like I have been the last four years. :lol

AHAHAHHAH.

NOt playing the Packer Oline anymore Detroit!

Just marched the ball down the field on the ground after the turnover!

7-0 Bears!

Jacksonville with the almost-red zone interception off Manning. That ain't normal.

edit: When I was doing my picks, I didn't realize Jacksonville won in Indy last year. I thought they won on at home. There's a very decent chance that my pick would have changed were I aware of that fact. And if Jacksonville wins this one...who knows, maybe they get added to the list of teams that could manhandle the Colts whenever they want.
