I mean, to last 17 weeks you'd have to pick weeks when Houston, Detroit, Green Bay, and Oakland win. Good luck with that

You have heard they expanded the league and there are now 32 teams in it? No need to pick Houston, Detroit, Green Bay or Oakland. Ever.

the giants let dismantria have a win because he just got married, we're generous like that.

by the way some thoghts from me:

Tiki Barber is the best thing the giants has/had going for them. peroid.

Jermey Shockey is such crap. I remember when they were hyping him up years ago, and I still think he's crap.

Ho shit, Maurice Drew was the leading rusher on the Jags today and he had 135 all purpose yards (103 rushing). ALUMNI, BABY!

By the way, how many 100 yard games do you have, Reggie Bush?

So the fact that Manning moved the ball in a blowout when the opposing defense was in prevent proves what exactly? Shockey is an idiot.

He's done well in the no huddle on more than one occasion, and it's not always against prevent.
The Giants coaching stuff is god awful. The playcalling on both sides of the ball is just stupid, and a good coaching stuff can improve things like penalties, and other mistakes, it's part of what they're paid to do, these guys just make it worse.

I thought I had made my pick (would have been Baltimore), but apparently not. I was trying to repeat as champion, but it wasn't meant ot be.

The Official Fire Tim Lewis topic

You know, in my Madden games I utilize the Giants defensive talents well enough to mask the weaknesses. Maybe I can get the Job!
No way, man. In Madden I OWNED the level before All-Madden and on All-Madden Giants are in 1st. My patented version of the old "Tampa 2" Defense owns. As long as the Jints don't use me as a token ethnic interview that defensive coordinator job is mine!! Plus, Lavar Arrington in that game plays like he still has two healthy knees.

EDIT: Someone upstairs should make this music the new Giants entrance song when they play at home.

AND I WON'T BE DENIED, CAUSE ALL I'VE GOT IS GIANT PRIDE ...

Oh God why G-Men ... WHY??

Dude I play in All-Madden by default and my D has traditionally been pretty stellar in our GAF Madden leagues. I am already employing scouting techniques as well. I think I am a lock, I am going to fax in my resume in a few minutes.

Lawrence Jabroney should be able to get yards against their D. Not sure how your D is going to fare though.

I'll give credit where credit is due- Steelers O line manhandles the Cincy D Line. Sam Adams made no difference. I'm not ready to write them off because they looked ok the first 2 weeks.

Bengals/Steelers should have been the prime time game! Oh well, it should be in week 15 or whenever they play again.

Also, more great Bengals news:

Thurman busted in OVI check
BY MARK CURNUTTE | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was arrested at 3:05 a.m. today and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Thurman was arrested in the 3800 block of Kellogg Avenue in the East End. He was brought to a checkpoint operated by the Cincinnati Police and Ohio State Patrol and submitted to a breath test.

Thurman registered a .17, which is considered a high-tier reading, said Officer Stephen Lawson of the Cincinnati Police Traffic Section.

Under Ohio law, a person is presumed intoxicated at .08 percent blood alcohol content.

Thurman was released to a sober driver, Lawson said.

Thurman was one of several Bengals players in Thurman’s 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The identification of other Bengals players riding in the vehicle was not immediately available, Lawson said.

Thurman, 23, was the only occupant charged with DUI, the officer said.

Thurman is currently serving a four-game suspension for a second violation of the NFL substance abuse policy, stemming from a failed test, which was believed to be a missed test.

He is eligible to come off the suspended list and return to practice Oct. 2, one week from today.

The Bengals played their third game Sunday, a 28-20 victory at Pittsburgh, to improve to 3-0.

Thurman, under terms of his suspension, is not allowed to be in the stadium on game day. The team flew home on a charter flight immediately after the game, and Thurman was believed to have hooked up with some teammates to celebrate the victory.

The Bengals’ standing policy is to not comment on players’ legal issues until they are resolved in the court system.

If convicted, Thurman would be subject to additional NFL discipline, including a fine or longer suspension.

Will it ever end? The Radio station this morning said Chris Henry was one of the passengers. I don't know if that's funny or sad. :(

"If you ain't better than the last guy you'll answer to me..."

McNair was hit at least two times after releasing the ball yesterday. He got no calls in that game, especially with how they've been calling late hits this year. Took two shots to the head as well. That was messed up.

Bengals defense might be susceptible to the run. I could see it being a really high scoring game or maybe Brady continues to stink it up (you know which one I want to see).

But man do I hope you are right. This is one of the few times I would have to cheer for the Bengals.

you'd rather cheer for a division rival than watch Brady win? wow

I thought Brady played pretty well considering they never got a running game going. Some of his deep balls were just slightly off. Maybe he'll start to look to Gabriel more now. Their kicking game is a disaster. If they made that one kick, then that last possession would have been only needing one score. Don't know how they can fix that at this point though.

Well, I wouldn't say that - although I was drunkingly mocking the refs by saying "Rodney King drops back for the Ravens... - but if you're trying to protect the qb's, then you should definitely protect someone as worn as McNair.

Too late to change their philosophy now, but maybe stop being cheap assholes?

Yeah, didn't he get up from one hit looking at the ref and tapping his helmet, but to no avail?

Not me. Especially with the Steelers off next week, I actually want the Pats to win. I doubt they will, but it would be nice. Steelers can't afford to fall behind any further. They've lost two conference games already.

You don't believe in my religion?

I thought you were one of us Spectral Glider.

This is all meant to be a test of your faith. Once you start cheering for Brady to win, you slowly lose all hope for salvation in this life.

The best part about that run was Alex Smith's pathetic attempts to try and get a tackle.

screw that man at least he was trying to make a play. you're telling me no one else on our squad but alex and VD could make an attempt (VD broke his leg on that play trying to run him down)? what a joke. alex is the only one who showed up for the game yesterday

Tonight the Falcons ascend to the NFC South throne!!! :D

If the Saints win, the divison would look like this:

Falcons 2-1
Saints 1-0
Panthers 1-1
Bucs 0-2

Then if we beat the Saints next week, we'd be tied for the division lead!

So basically, GO SAINTS YAYAYAYAY.

MINNEAPOLIS -- For the first time in this young season, the Minnesota Vikings are facing some adversity.

If the way the head coach handled it after Sunday's deflating loss to division rival Chicago, it could be a long year.

After the first regular season loss of his head coaching career, Brad Childress made a brief opening statement to the media, quickly answered just three questions, then headed for the door.

It was a shocking display from a man who has done nothing but preach about character and accountability since the moment he took over nine months ago, and a stark contrast to the class and responsibility Carolina coach John Fox showed in the Metrodome one week ago.

It's easy to answer questions when you're winning. When you've pulled out two last-second victories in the first two weeks, one with the help of a very gutsy fake field goal call, anybody can field inquiries from an adoring media contingent about how things went just right.

What makes an NFL coach's job infinitely more difficult -- and less desirable -- is standing before the firing squad after a loss like this one. A game that you had in the palm of your hand with just minutes to play. A game that slipped away in the blink of an eye. A game in which you made several decisions that fans are going to want to know about.

The Vikings led Chicago 16-12 and had the ball late in the fourth quarter. Game over, right?

But the normally reliable Chester Taylor fumbled a handoff, giving the Bears the ball at the Minnesota 37. Five plays later, Rex Grossman hit Rashied Davis for a 24-yard touchdown and a 19-16 lead.

Still, the Vikings had the ball with good field position and plenty of time left to pull off another comeback.

On third-and-7 at their own 41, Childress called a draw to Mewelde Moore that gained 5 yards, caused them to burn one of their two remaining timeouts, and left them with a fourth-and-2.

Then Brad Johnson threw the ball deep to Troy Williamson, taking a chance on the big play rather than going for a safer pass to keep the chains moving. The ball fell harmlessly to the turf and Grossman kneeled to close out the victory.

To his credit, at least Childress did address why they called for such a risky pass with the game on the line.

"We just tried to throw it to a playmaker," Childress said. "Troy has been good for us and he had man-to-man coverage out there."

He then talked briefly about the team's blitzing philosophy and dismissed a question about injuries on the offensive line before exiting, leaving so many questions unanswered.

Why was cornerback Fred Smoot benched for the first series of the game?

Why the draw on third-and-7?

What did you say to Taylor after such a tough play?

That's what leaders do. They stand up and take the heat when things don't go their way, like Fox did so impressively a week before after the Vikings beat the Panthers in overtime.

The veteran coach all but handed that one to the Purple when he called for a throwback on a punt return with a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter. Chris Gamble's wobbly throw eventually wound up in the hands of the Vikings, and kicker Ryan Longwell's TD pass to Richard Owens sent the game into overtime.

After one of the bigger mistakes of his coaching career, Fox stood in front of reporters and accepted the blame for the call, and answered questions about the Panthers' 0-2 start.

He did it like a pro.

Childress has done an excellent job of restoring order and instilling a sense of professionalism to a team that very much needed both after Zygi Wilf finally canceled the Mike Tice Amateur Hour. Practices are more organized, game plans are tighter and players have been held accountable for off-the-field transgressions.

But his conduct after the game on Sunday lacked all of that, and more.

It's acceptable to lose a game, especially one as close and tough as this one.

It's acceptable to make an error in judgment or make a bad call when the spotlight is shining brightest.

The only thing that is unacceptable is clamming up in the aftermath when one or both of those things happen.

Let's hope this was just a rookie mistake. Childress is doing this for the first time, after all, and some growing pains are inevitable.

Of course it's better to have those pains in the pressroom than on the field. But it doesn't make it right.

It's an article on how Brad Childress answered 3 questions in the post game and left. I think the press may be reaching here. Sometimes, the press gets this inflated sense of self-worth. Does anybody really care that he answered 3 questions and left besides the press? I'm sure the #1 issue for fans deals with the end of the game, not the post game. Pfft, we need to knock some of the press down a few notches.

You are not that important.

Uh, are you punch drunk? If the Saints (or Falcons) win, they'll be 3-0 and you'll be 2 games behind. It's still a long season but you got some weird numbers going. You guys haven't had a bye.

reminds me of when Al Michaels got all preachy about Shanahan "lying" about Plummer's injured throwing shoulder. Yeah, basically sports media needs to get over themselves.

Keep dreaming. By the way, is Peppers the only guy on Carolina's D giving 100% every play??? They let Tampa Bay who had put up all of 3 points in two games put 24 points on the board.

Also, if they don't fix their protection problems, it is going to be a long season for Delhomme whether Smith stays healthy or not.

When Childress was in philly I had no idea he was such a hardass. Dont blame him for doing that though.

Saints will get blown out tonight, despite the ref's best intentions. I'm willing to bet on that

It wouldn't even be a tie since we would have the head-to-head advantage.

EDIT: I guess that's what you mean by being a game behind.

Eat shit. Of course, for every football fan, the FIRST thing you think about is divisional records. That'll surely dictate who makes the playoffs. Not the overall record. The overall record can't possibly be any simpler than the leap you have to make to think about divisional records. /endreplytostupidshit

That'll be the dumbest thing I read today. Thanks DouchyZ, you're the best.

OK....yeah it's great that the Saints are back home again, but jesus this is getting insane with the hype and the dramatic montages.

Yeah, it's going to be terrible until gametime. And if the Saints were to win the game......
