Yeah, I didn't include the playoff game. Besides, do we really want to hear them crying and whining about the Evil Kimo again? Man, he's worse than Romo that guy. Did you see all the evil hits he scored for the Jets this year? What a dirty vindictive guy, I tell ya.

They can cry all Dey want. Just reminds me of the "We Dey" chants the Steelers had after the win. :D

All I remember about Joey Porter was our O-line making him a non-factor.

Oh and Maurice Jones-Drew picking up an AWESOME block on him during that big Reggie Williams play.

I was going to post that even Joey Porter's dogs are assholes too.

Ben has had perhaps the best situation of any QB ever coming into the league. If Carson was the QB of that team, he would have 2 rings now. Ben is a caretaker. Carson is a QB.

Poor Carson, wasn't good enough to crack a starting job on a mediocre 8-8 squad his first year.

I like how Ben is a caretaker with a ring. If that's the case, then what the hell was Tomczak, Stewart, Graham, and Tommy's excuses?

don't forget O'Donnell and Bubby Brister... those were all good teams too.

Chargers could have taken Ben first overall, he'd have done nicely there as well.

Joey Porter is a bad man. Better hope for Chad's sake that he never goes against Joey coming across the middle.

And hopefully our coach has a enough sense to rest our starters when we have a huge lead in the closing minutes, so our star players don't risk and needless injuries. Marvin could get some lessons from Bill.

Blah, blah, blah, blah. All Ben does is hand off. Anyone could do it. How many games did the Steelers win in 2003? Something tells me it wasn't 15. Amazing how much better the team started looking once he started as qb. What a amazing f'in coincidence! Strange, how none of our other quarterbacks ever won a Superbowl under some very talented Cowher teams, some of them with superior running games and similar defenses.

All Ben does is win. And he had some nice stats in the playoffs when we came out throwing. Didn't he drop like 31 points on the road in Cincy in the playoffs? And it could have been worse if we kept trying to run up the score in the 4th quarter.

Don't start crying yet Bungle fans. Ben is a native of Ohio so you can take some credit for that Superbowl. It might be the closest you ever get so take advantage.

Yeah watch out. He might rack up the 0 tackles, 0 sacks, 0.5 assisted tackles on ya.

That's positively Mario Williams numbers!

Must be kind of scary to have a single player be the difference between going to the playoffs and going 0-16.

They still have big hole to dig out of to even make the playoffs. They'd better hope that neither of his hamstring pulls flare back up.

That describes almost every team in the NFL. Every* team is a player or two away from absolutely sucking.

* This does not apply to the Raiders as they need to obtain some talent before they are placed in this situation.

Dude, even I can admit the bengals D is/was bad. That's like saying you dropped 31 points on the Raiders. Also, I'm sure he accounted for all 31 of those points.

That's OK, the Jags O made Larry Foote look like a defensive demon, and that's something no team has ever done.

Naw the hawks could lose their 1 & 2 receivers and maybe even the MVP and still win the superbowl. :)

the team would have to win it WITH them first before you can start making claims like that.

If you had a team that was solid at every position except quarterback would you want to take a chance and trade for Farve?

Rumors are floating about Brett going down to DC. It is definitely fake, but interesting to think about nonetheless.

packers won't trade favre. he owns that city and that team. that is why the situation is so delicious: he will retire a packer and he will retire in shame as QB for one of the worst teams in the league. thanks for the memories brett

The Niners gave Cool Joe the boot, why is Brett untouchable?

I think Joe owned San Fran as much or more than Brett owns Cheesetown.

Now granted there is probably no way he gets traded, but no one is above being traded or fired in the NFL.

I remember in an interview a week or two back brett seemed open to a trade.

I would love to see the collision between the national media's "brett can do no wrong" and DC's local media's "any qb that loses a game for us gets thrown under a bus" philosophies.

Basically Tampa TV stations have a feud going over the Jaguars and Orlando coverage. Right now they'll show anything but Jags games. Even going as far as Baltimore/Cleveland, the cheapest one to get.
I haven't been following too closely, but are the Jags really in trouble as a viable franchise in Jacksonville? I know they've been having attendance problems, and I heard on the radio they couldn't even sell out their Monday night game. Baltimore fans tend to see Jacksonville as Tagliabue's biggest mistake, and see the Jags as the expansion team Baltimore should have been awarded in 1993.

actually it's kind of wierd... in a way the browns are just the browns and the Ravens are their own team, at least when you're talking about team historical stats.
And we in Baltimore mostly see the Ravens as an expansion team with no connection to the Browns. In fact, the only original Brown left on the team from the move is kicker Matt Stover.

And don't get us started on Indy owning the franchise records of the old Baltimore Colts...

Um what?

All Jags games are sold out this year. This Monday night's game was totally sold out too, even if Jags fans didn't snap up the tickets, you know Steelers fans would've:P But there weren't NEARLY as many this year. We're in no trouble at all.

That's what I always thought was lame. What was so special about Cleveland that they got to keep their name for a "future team." League had already screwed over one historical city, why not another.

Hey don't forget Ozzie Newsome! Sure he was no longer a player, but still, very important piece.

OK, just going by what I heard. But didn't they cover up entire sections of seats last year just so that they could pull the tickets off the market and still claim "sellouts"?

edit: found this...

http://www.jaguars.com/story/4493.asp

Seats covered Thursday
7/27/05

Beginning on Thursday, July 28, the process of covering 9,713 seats inside Alltel Stadium will begin. MetroMedia Technologies, Inc. is making the large coverings which will be installed in the north and south ends of each upper deck as well as part of the north endzone. As announced in December, the Jaguars are reducing the capacity of Alltel Stadium to 67,164 by covering nearly 10,000 seats. The team's objective is to sell out Alltel Stadium, creating a better game day experience for our fans and allowing Jaguars home games to be televised locally. Over the course of the season there will be 97,130 fewer tickets available to Jaguars home games.

Actually 67,164 isn't far from the Ravens stadium capacity of approx. 69,700. I guess they were just overly optimistic when they opened the Jags stadium with 77,000 seats.

Uh, the Raiders have talent. They just have shitty coaching. Shitty ownership and a shitty O-line working against it.

Oh yeah, Aaron Brooks doesn't help either.

That was the story I saw too, not sure where, think it was on ESPN. And by the looks of things, the same sections were covered up on Monday night.

Well, the seats are covered up because the stadium is too big for the NFL market in Jacksonville. It's built for the Florida/Georgia game which is a much huger crowd.

They can't just uncover the seats whenever they want, they either need to be covered all year or uncovered all year.

I'm just curious, was the Jag's stadium built before they were actually awarded a franchise? That would have been a strong argument in their favor to get a franchise, if they could say they already had an NFL caliber stadium. Or was it built after they got the team? When the Browns moved to Baltimore, they played the first two years in old, decrepit Memorial Stadium while the new one was being built.

It's been around for a long long time. It's the old Gator Bowl stadium. Was just renovated, that's all.

The whole thing with Cleveland was such a slap in the face to so many other cities that lost their teams. Besides the Colts (tangent: anyone else know older people that call the Ravens the Colts out of habit?) you had the bullshit that happened with the Oilers and the Rams.

At least we can rest easy with the knowledge that the Browns will never amount to anything, much like the city they play in. Besides, would anyone want the Browns' name, colors and history?

Yes, I certainly do know a few people who still call the Ravens the Colts. :)

True fact: When Modell gave his first speech in Baltimore on the site of the new stadium-to-be, he said the team would continue to be called the Browns. Right after the move was announced, I remember seeing Browns merchandise for sale in Baltimore area Sears stores. But Modell quickly realized that leaving the name and records in Cleveland would make NFL approval of the move easier, and the sentiment of fans in Baltimore was for a new name and a fresh start.

I always thought it was weak sauce when the Colts bolted Baltimore in the middle of the night. The Houston thing made zero sense, they can't keep one and then they get another.

So many people here still talk about that with so much venom you'd think it happened last year not 1984.

What do the Houston Texans and Billy Graham have in common?

Both make 70,000 people stand up and scream "Jesus Christ!"

Yeah, stay with the Deadskins. I need another few years to laugh. Hey, you wanna make another Kotite bet?

you know what's most offensive about that article? There's just nothing funny in it. I don't know what it is about him... I never have watched PTI, but he has not written anything remotely insightful or funny since the early nineties. All he does now is try to stir things up. Like Adu's rookie year in MLS, he wrote all year blasting the coach for not starting him, all the while emphasizing that he hates soccer. That's about all he has to offer.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised at how crappy it was. I'm not a huge fan of his but I didn't think he'd ever sunk to that level before.

Besides, what's with all the Jacksonville hate anyways? The franchise has at least attempted to put a winning team on the field before (take notes, Houston and Cleveland Browns 2.0) and their "small town team" status is an interesting throwback to the way the NFL used to be (see: Green Bay).
