I think he didn't address SMS because he felt it rude that interviewers implied it was a poor game when he knows it was far from it.

No, Miyamoto has dissed Sunshine before.

This is the first Wii game that impresses me graphically.
First?

Or only?

Or nothing?

What?!

I love that Bee suit. Hell, I'm just glad to see Mario out of his overalls again...

Man its going to be hard for journalists to pick the Game of the Year this year. I think SMG is giving SSBB a run for its money.:D

Or color scheme.
Bright colors make me happy.:D

Dark makes me sad. :(

I was clinically depressed after playing Silent Hill. Was in therapy for months...

I mean it can't be just me. Are CoD4 and Killzone 2 ACTUALLY black and white? I swear to god there's no more than 4 colors in those games.

It makes the game look grittier and more realistic, thus increasing the WOW factor.

Ratchet and Clank uses all the colors of the rainbow, and IMO looks the best.

That's BS.

I swear I saw blue in Assassin's Creed somewhere.

Like everyone else, i psyched up the second i saw Bee Mario in the conference trailer - but am i the only one who finds it strange how many people are loving him, compared to how many people hate on FLUDD, considering they both achieve the same effect?
The primary function is to allow hovering and thus ease the difficulty of jumping.

You're not the only person to notice, it occurred to me almost immediately as well. Difference is that FLUDD was a really shitty character design that should never have been able to talk, whereas Bee Mario is an extension of the awesome Mario suit tradition. FLUDDs mechanics were never the problem for me, it was just that the poor design was as uninspired as the rest of the world of Sunshine, the levels were great & the gameplay was great, but the setting didn't inspire nearly the sense of wonder that other Mario games have. For me the most exciting part of Galaxy is the amount of imagination on display, and the fact that Bee Mario basically exhibits the same mechanics of FLUDD with an adorable, imaginative skin reminds me of what Sunshine lacked.

Damn straight it does. It's hard not to notice the lack of color when there isn't any in ANYTHING ANYMORE.

The biggest game of the year for Nintendo keeps on impressing.

Spiffy
Best visuals on the system; awesome controls; ingenious level design; Mario's back.

Iffy
We only got to play for a short space of time.

sweet jesus, if the worst thing about the game was that they didnt get to play it for longer... oh gosh.

I like that they used the word space in their iffy section. Total class.

You remind me of a young Rick Moranis.

Exception to the rule.

You know, with the similarities that people have been bringing up with Galaxy being like SMB3, I completely forgot that they even have the same level ending theme. :D

Hm? When Mario gets a star, it plays the same music as when he completes a castle in the original Super Mario Bros. That tune is slightly different from the ditty that plays following completion of a normal course.

It's different in these new videos, but I assume the Mario 3 level ending theme comes when you beat the bosses (at least that's how it was with last year's videos).

Ah, well if it's different in the new videos I wouldn't know. I refuse to spoil anything else after that incredible trailer. :D

I'm completely put off by the bee costume and its associated Bee Shroom. I'll try to beat that level quickly.

Otherwise, Boo Costume is love and the multiplayer is concentrated brilliance. This is platforming for the new century, a game mechanic with so much density from the past 22 years it has become a diamond. And that diamond is Super Mario Galaxy.

Have you even seen Mario climbing around in the Bee costume? It's possibly one of the cutest thing in gaming after the Rabbids.

I've seen it all. Mario is quirky, and sometimes perhaps in a cute way, but not 'cutesy' like that.

Maybe it's the culture gap kicking in. Babies and very young children often dress as bumblebees for Halloween in the States.. so that is how I see him. This is just Mario as a bee in Nippon.

I watched all the gameplay movies, and WOW. Best mario ever. At least in graphics, cause i don't know how Wii is handling those amazing graphics. All the textures are high res, just look carefully when Mario is on a rocky planet. Amazing! :D :D :D

He's 40+ year old fat, moustache'd plumber in a bee suit. I did never understand what people see appealing or 'cute' in this character. It's just...no.

But the game looks like big jar of honey (in poland we use honey to reffer to gameplay). Fantastic.

R&C is the best looking game imo...looks gorgeous.

:O :O ****ing amazing. GOTS, GOTY, GOTC.

I don't know, so far I haven't seen much challenge. Every level seems very easy and straightforward. Hope there's more to it than that.

Miyamoto has recently asked to make it a little bit more difficult. Have you seen the interview ?

Attacking enemies is also not very fun. Mario is not Zelda, why am I attacking in the same fashion? To kill a piranha plant, I had to swing the Wiimote like a sword, stunning them with my swing attack. I'm sure some people would like this, but it didn't feel like Mario to me. I always thought it was awkward to watch Mario punch, but this is just ridiculous. I hope they work on this before release because it totally took me out of the experience.
I'm not going to dissemble the rest - I've not played it - but I believe you're incorrect here on two points:

1) You also punched extensively in Mario 64.
2) There is one moment in the Bee Mario video from earlier where it did look like the player jumped on a piranha plant to kill it.

I lived in Japan for a while. Played Mario 3 with my girlfriend over there, and she LOVED him. Every time he got a new suit, or did a new animation, she would say "Kawaii!" which means cute in Japanese.

Most Japanese think Mario is cute.
