Forgive me if this was posted already, but another developer walkthrough. One of the levels that really caught my eye in the trailer, it has the platforms that form a path as you walk.

My ****ing god that was brilliant. This is quickly becoming my most eagerly anticipated game since Mario 64 (which is fitting, ofcourse)

:lol The whole time the video was playing on my monitor, I was playing 'Recovering the Satellites' by Counting Crows in my head.

:lol can someone tell Matt that the long jump is not new and WAS in Mario 64

I'm seeing a lot of Pikmin enemies in the HoneyBee Kingdom
The waterfalls and bouncy flowers are straight from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
And the water has been slightly improved from Pikmin -> Mario Sunshine -> Pikmin 2 -> Twilight Princess -> Mario Galaxy

I wonder what EAD Tokyo'll do after this. They have true ultimate power. I kind of want Retro to do the next Starfox, but if not, i'd gladly take these guys.

EAD Tokyo should do a very epic Kid Icarus game if not Retro Studios.
I'm wishing it's what the TP team has been working on instead of Retro.

So will someone tell me why Shane was complaining about this game? I just can't see how that's possible from all the shit we have for it now.

I believe his complaint is that from the initial demo he played, the planet's were too small and he didn't get that kind of epic landscape feel..the next day he clarified that Nintendo did say that there would be bigger planets so his main worry might have been misplaced.

titiklabingapat said:
He also called DQS a baby's game. It's just Shane being Shane.

I don't think that's fair. He actually was very positive about RE:UC for heavens sake, and like I said in my previous post he came back to his comment the next day and mentioned that his concern might be misplaced.

this is truly awesome! O__O

Doesn't look as good as Sunshine to me. Sunshine really excelled in providing brilliant over-the-top level designs that required you to use some crazy acrobatic platforming maneuvers to fully explore, but most of the platforming we've seen in Galaxy so far seems straightforward and boring in comparison. The bee suit seems interesting but its missing a lot of the versatility and functionality that FLUDD provided. Don't get me wrong, Galaxy is still high up on my list but it really looks like a step backwards after playing through Sunshine for the zillionth time.

I don't see how hovering with FLUDD could be more fun than anything we've seen in Galaxy so far, even the "slow" bee costume.

I dont know why, but sometimes this game remembers me of Banjo... I think is basically the music in one of the levels demoed at E3

Why would you be exstatic about it not being as good as Sunshine? Oh wait, you probably want all 3D platformers to suffer from the same archaic design and overly simplistic gameplay as Mario 64 lolz.

Me too, especially since you could transform into a bumblebee in Banjo 1

Well, you collected Honeycombs to extend your health in Banjo 1, there was also a lot of honey/bee references in Banjo 1 :)

I still remember, My mom took me to Toys R Us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to play it before launch(I was 6). My first play with it was Super Mario 64 in Snowman's Land, the 2nd snow level, which is embedded in my brain as my biggest gaming moment, playing Mario in 3D.

This is by far one of the worst ideas I've ever heard

yeah but then again so was tennis, soccer, and countless other ideas that have worked.

if done right it could be great fun with the zapper.

Sports and to a lesser degree fighting (for competition) are generally accepted in the public and are enjoyed by maaaaany different kinds of people. Shooting the shit out of something with a gun is just something that doesn't fly well over the mass majority of the world–that's why you'll never see Nintendo use their most treasured mascot in a game that involves this. It's a horrible idea.

What

What sort of defense is this

What is wrong with you

well nintendo might never do it cause its shooting ppl

but my point stands....a lot of these ideas were thought off as crazy or wouldnt work but they did. im saying a multiplayer FPS set in a nintendo world could be fun if developed by the right ppl.

Having seen the shitload of games through various sites and such I really believe Mario Galaxy is the most impressive game on the show floor. Visually it's inspired as hell. It doesn't remind me of any previous Mario game and it carves its own path. Gameplay-wise it is unmatched. A ****ing breath of fresh air. It's a sequel to whatever previous Mario game but it plays nothing like it (I'm looking at you Ratchet and Clank). On top of that the use of unique suits really lets the developers change the landscape in fresh new ways. As much as I want to get my hands on Smash Bros Brawl, Galaxy easily has my attention as most anticipated game this Fall.

Yeah I know, all facts start with, "I'm wishing," right?

It's still easily misconstrued. If the scenario actually was the case, your statement would've made just as much (or more) sense.

I don't see how, why would I wish for something if it has already been realized?

this is bs

Wet-Dry World is one of the best examples of level design ever created

They'd just call it Mario Paint Ball or something similar. :)

Or maybe Mario and co. could run around shooting fireballs at each other, with bobombs as the grenades, of course. People wouldn't "die". they would just loose lives or coins or stars. I can totally see it working! And I wouold probably want to play it. I don't like the "realistic" FPSes of today. Don't care about World War simulations and the like. Nintendo could make FPSes more "fun" for wussies like me!

Also, Mario Galaxy looks awesome. I can't wait to see soemthing like Bowser being so heavy that while he's chasing Mario down, he's crushing the tiny planets he's stepping on. XD
