I went to pick this up today and stopped.

It's a 108kb unlock key :(

hmmpf!
Came in here to post this. Saw it on Marketplace, and just thought I'd check the filesize for shenanigans, and yep, it's an unlock key.

The king, at least, is already in the game, so this is just unlocking him. :lol Not sure about the other stuff in the pack. I like Castle Crashers, but no.
Give this man a medal. Got it in one.

I've been meaning to pick this up and I didn't know about the lost data thing...

I had a hunch this would be an unlock key but held out hope because it was behemoth... Guess I was wrong. :(

I don't get it, because they are behemoth you can only expect the worst

but hey!!!! while online play was broken for 5 months they at least posted pics of Castle Crashers swag!!!!! how cool was that?

The fact that it's an unlock key probably means that if your friend or someone else online does not have the pack they can still see you using it visually.

Sucks that it's just a 108kb key though, I tend not to buy them because it doesn't feel right paying to unlock something already in the game like that.

Unlock key? :lol

I thought we were past this crap.

God bless the xbox live marketplace. This is the worst kind of charge any company can make for additional content.

Looks like CC will definitely be my first and last Behemoth game I ever purchase.

Any chance it's just a palette/stat swap for existing characters/weapons? Not that it's much better...

I've seen it in action. The King's spell effect is very different from the usual spells, and the weapons are powerful. The golden sword can be used by Level 1s, and dishes out something like 11 or 12 HP damage a hit even at those levels. I started a low level online game with a few random people, one of which who had it and couldn't stop raving about how much damage it did. (The game eventually started lagging worse and worse during the deer-riding chase until it kicked at least me back to the title screen. We didn't know each other, so we didn't make any real effort to rejoin the same game.)

They've also made it so people can't trade the King's scepter anymore, you have to buy it as DLC to use it now. Same with the new lollipop and golden sword.

The seal randomly freezes foes, and I think spits snowballs sometimes? That's what I remember the person saying about it anyway.

So this was wtf they were working no instead of a patch?

Ah, fuck off. I'll probably never buy this game now. That's just plain fucking wrong.

Fake Edit: I know the patch was out first, but considering how long it took for the patch to get certified, this DLC must have been at least parallel developed. It's still just plain wrong.

Real Edit: It's an unlock key? Get the fuck out Behemoth. Get the fuck out. :lol

Right. It had to be an unlock key, or online would be completely broken... again. Not that I'm buying it, or ever playing this game again, but this is not something to bitch about.

Ehh, somehow I doubt the patch included the new DLC stuff, seeing as it was known about for a long time.

So this means it was in there forever, waiting. If there was a title update ALONGSIDE an unlock key, that would be fair.

so if this DLC is nothing more then an unlock key what exactly were they doing for 5 months after the game was released while the online portion was broken?

So I finally picked this up and played a few levels with the King, that fucking Monster Sword, and Pelty!

Totally rad. Hopefully the heal magic does more as it levels up because +2 ain't gonna cut it against the fucking Sock Monster. The monster sword is ludicrously powerful, as is the Lolly (Magic +6) and the sceptre ain't too bad either.

It's pretty amazing how after starting up runs with like seven characters, just going through even the beginning stages is still fun. It's still as fun the four hundreth time as it was the first to X-Surf a dude from side of the screen to the other. This game is really phenomenally fun to play.

I don't know much about the Xbox 360 patch process, but is it possible that this is similar to how some PS3 games handle DLC? Maybe the patch contained the data and the DLC was just the unlock key for the data contained in the patch. I know Hot Shots Golf has patches that contain the DLC, but if you want to use it you have to buy it. That way when you play online against people who bought the DLC you can still see the special characters.

360 autoupdates only update the executable code, anything else would require an addon pack.

I'm thinking it's an unlock code because this content was included with the patch so that when you play multiplayer with someone who doesn't have it, they would still be able to see it.

edit: sorry didn't see this post. Well then...

I'm still kind of pissed that they (I'm sure Microsoft had more to do with it than Behemoth) had the nerve to charge for this. I'm sure there are a good amount of people who were soured on this game due to it's glitches, so releasing this as a "sorry" to the patrons would have gone over a lot better and probably got more people to come back to play multiplayer.

This game WAS 1200 points, plus the fact that this insignificant content pack is 160 points... which is going to leave you with 40 points if you buy a 1400 point card in canada... or 240 points with the 1600 point cards... just enough for a theme or something. Who are they fooling with this shit?

I really wouldn't call it insignificant. Just because they're drawn like cartoons doesn't make two different characters, one with an entirely different magic loadout, and three weapons with completely different stat buffs AND a new Animal Orb that can be used offensively. (I'm guessing Openfaced Knight is just a skin of the old Knight but he might have new magic as well [but I doubt it]) for like $2?

Online still doesn't work for me. The game keeps saying to check my NAT settings.
Make sure your NAT is set to Open. You can check this from the Dashboard by running the Live connection test.
