Acdsee 3.1 from 2000 to view my porn, uh I mean m photos...

I don't know of any other image viewer that can handle 60,000 images in 400 different directories without taking ages to load up a slide show. And the ability to reset the default settings is awesome. Full screen, shrink/grow image to fit the screen, random.

You guys should try IrfanView, it's excellent (and handles modern formats)

Yes, Windows XP definitely counts as old software, it came out in 2001. I would recommend to anyone who's still using it to upgrade. It's not going to be receiving security updates for very much longer and it has very bad built-in security features of its own. (it takes more than just anti-virus software and a firewall to make a computer secure)

Winamp (Classic Skin): I have yet to find another audio player that takes up as little space as the minimized form of the classic Winamp screen. It rests comfortably always on top of the otherwise empty windows title bar and shows me all I need to know: Artist - songtitle (from playlist editor) and time remaining along with the controls. I also really like the way the library handles both in speed and simplicity and clarity. Is there any modern player that comes close?

CDex & MP3Gain for ripping my CDs... because they mostly work well and I actually see what they do.

Never upgrading from Windows 7, you will never take Winamp away from me.

I am also using an old version of Spotify because they decided that the new versions should use web-based pages for everything. New versions use five times more memory and waste your resources to look cool. The old version of Spotify still delivers the reason it's better than any other music streaming service out there: a lightweight player with minimal distractions.

Even though I have never been fan of Launchers or extra desktop UI elements, I keep using Yahoo widgets, which was phased out a couple of years ago.



Particularly for the Webimage widget above, which I use to check webcams around the world (collected in the past years). Pretty fast, support different sizes, landscape/portrait mode, etc.

Haven't found a suitable alternative yet, but it's not as if I have done an extensive research either.

Too many games, not to mention pieces of legacy business software, will be broken by the update.

The world is going to have to figure out a way to continue to allow XP on the network.

Or we keep it off network. I have an iMac still that runs OS9 so I can play some games I bought back in the day...

I feel you, though it's nice to get access to the history eraser button with later versions.

Still, Adobe software used to be so sleek and fast. After Effects 5.5 was my stop point for a while.

Plus, sluggish performance.

My mom's iPhone 4S runs iOS7 just fine.

Battery runs down in a day though, but I don't know if it's the OS that's at fault for that.

I am on 2.44 myself, been using 2.44 since year 2000, last usable version IMHO.

Works relatively fine in Linux also under Wine. I dont understand there are no picture viewers other than old ACDSee where you can navigate filesystem with enter key and arrow keys/page up/page down. I also use it as a filemanager, it is the best program I ever used. Later versions are sh*t and they even prevent you from going up in a folder hierarchy by removing ".." from the filelist..
