116 is out.

EDIT: DAMMIT METATRON :(
Just doing my job.

By the way, I just saw a batch torrent out there with the first 6 episodes of the US dub. So if you're into the whole masochism thing or simply have a high pain threshold, then by all means check it out.

Hell no. :D

Anxiety is killing me right now-- I have too many things to worry about to enjoy watching One Piece or Full Metal Alchemist and so I'm already dozens of episodes behind.... there is NO WAY I'll touch the dub. :p

Um, maybe I missed something in that fight but why did
Bon Clay go hurtling into the wall at the end of the fight? They bothed kicked each other, landed, and then Mr. 2 sort of went crazy & flew in the wall, I didn't quite grasp why he did that.

Finally Mr. 1's ability was revealed, I was expecting something quite different, but he's fighting Zoro, so... I guess it makes sense. That fight should be the best of the Alubarna battles.

But, it's kind of odd that Luffy has been totally absent for the last three episodes (except for a few brief flashbacks), I can't recall Luffy being missing in any episodes before that, not even in the Coby, Helmeppo/Buggy fillers. But his return should be nothing short of huge.

First,
I also have no idea what happened at the end of that fight. I saw it for the first time a couple weeks ago, and it still makes no sense to me.

Zoro's fight is HARDCORE.....but you'll have to wait a couple episodes before it really starts. There's still one more fight that needs to take place before Zoro gets to do his thing. Basically episode 119 is devoted to Zoro and his badassity.

And yeah, I was actually thinking earlier today how weird it was to have One Piece without Luffy. And he still won't be back for several more episodes. It's kinda cool seeing the Straw Hats fly solo for a while.

It was pretty ambiguous because it's probably a parody of
Fist of the North Star
. It could have something to do with Mr. 2's fighting stance looking quite a bit like some of
Shin's
stances.

Since I have nothing to better to do and I'm a huge fan of both shows, here's a visual aide of the parody:

View me! (warning, spoilers for both shows, so don't peek unless you've seen OP 116)

Though I know many of you don't follow the manga, for those who do, a low quality version of Ch. 345 is out....and OMG is it a mindfuck! Oda just does not stop with the revelations and nobody really seems to be able to fully predict them ahead of time.

Anyway, the big secret of 345:
Kaku, Rob Lucci, Califa, and Blueno (the bartender) (and Robin, of course) are the CP9 members trying to kill Iceberg. I mean, WTF! If you haven't been following the arc, I guess it doesn't make sense to you, but NOBODY expected this (though some had suspects Califa of being evil). This arc is still far from over, that's for sure. Also, Pauley and Luffy get some bonding time together, which further solidifies the idea that Pauley is the next crew member.

Damnit Belfast, I thought a new vid dropped!
I'm (very slowly) making it through the manga in Japanese myself.

manga spoilers:
I guessed that Califa was a part of CP9, but didn't think that Kaku and Rob Lucci were part of it too. It fits, though - they looked too badass to be good guys :D

Yeah, I can see that Pauley might be the new crew member... but i still think Franky is more interesting than Pauley.. :P

Well, Franky may still come along. I wouldn't believe that Oda would throw him in there just to have him rough up Usopp. He'll have some other reason for being there. It just *seems* that Oda is paying a lot of attention to Pauley, but there are so many surprises in this arc, who really knows?

I really liked how Oda revealed the secret by using Lucci's bird. Also, did you notice that Lucci no longer talks via ventriloquism? Good touches.

Franky seems to have a past with pirates - it could be an emotional story in the making.
and, uh, it seems to me that the Pluto-blueprints could turn into Luffy's new ship... although I don't know how that would work, cuz the government would surely hunt them down...

Whats taking so long with 117 ? :(
I don't know. I personally kind of thought they were going to try and hurry through 117 and 118 so that they could release 119 on the 11th (what better way to celebrate Zoro's birthday?), but it certainly looks like that isn't happening.

Um... 116 seemed to be a struggle, I would've thought that mainly due in part to the karaoke, But 117 has been in the works for near on a fortnight now. Hopefully we get some word soon on the ETA from their IRC channel, because the wait is killing me.

So the next two episodes cover the
Nami/Doublefinger fight, which leads into Zoro & Mr. 1....?! I like Nami & all, but please don't tell she actually beats a numbered agent by herself?

goddammit. my curiosity got the best of me and i just had to look at the 345 spoilers.... grrrr..... woulda been a huge surprise. but man oh man where 343 and 344 extremely interesting. it just kept spiralling upwards with some crazy twists.

she's on her own, but it's not fighting ability that lets her win. It's kind of a goofy fight, but it is nice to see Nami fighting imo

She
beats them using a rather amazing gadget. They make it quite clear that by herself she couldn't win, but with a lot of strategic thinking and the gadget, she makes it out alive.

If you really want to know what the
gadget
is...
It's a staff made by Usopp that seperates into pieces with fire/ice/lightning properties. It burns out at the end of the fight and to my knowledge isn't used again, but it seemed fixable at the time...

...looks at the twist in question...

Holy...

1.
Goddammit Kaku!!!
2.
Looks like Paulie is now front runner in the crewman sweepstakes.

Well I think they're already used to being chased everywhere "I mean Luffy even says that again in this chapter!". So I can see them getting the boat. My guess is that since leaving the old ship would be to sad, they will kind of merge it with the new ship like have going mary be a monument at the front of a gigantic ship.

Seems there's a new group doing One Piece. They just released 116 and 117. File sizes are large (slightly larger than the average OP episode from the usual guys, actually), so the video quality should be good. I'm getting it now as a test.

117 is most likely to come out tomorrow night, either that or definitely midnight.
It's kind of ambiguous cause the news post was made just a few minutes past midnight. Do they mean tomorrow night as in Saturday (when Fullmetal Alchemist airs on Adult Swim [/shameless plug]) or do they mean tomorrow night as in Sunday night?

So I checked out this other group's version of 117, and I must say they were pretty good. If the usual guys are an A, these guys are hovering right around a B+/A-.

If it's nearly as good, that's good enough for me. I like nice subs and can understand it takes time, but at the same time I ain't not perfectionist. Just finish the damn arc already!

I hope they stick it out. God knows we desperately need another good quality group subbing One Piece, who'll actually stay the course, well.... for at least one full arc.

Heh, I initially interpreted it as Sunday night, but they could have it tentatively scheduled for tonight & if anything goes wrong they can move it onto Sunday, without actually delaying it.. well officially.

Very sneaky indeed.

It's the same for me, I can appreciate that groups hardwork & excellent attention to detail. But when it takes two or three weeks just to sub one episode, because you're caught up on translating every little bit of French cuisine Sanji spouts out ( see ---> Sanji/Bon Clay fight) I guess you really have to draw a line in the sand.

So I hope this group does stays on, so we can actually have an alternative when that groups releases slow down & are delayed, which they often are.

If you can, send me a PM as to where I can find this new group matey.

Yeah, PM please. ^_^

Hopefully they're not an IRC-only group, though. :(

Hey, if anything a new group will possibly promote competition with that OTHER group that's been around for a long time. Maybe that'll make releases even faster.....

PMs sent.

As a nice little bonus, apparently they're also working on Viewtiful Joe, too.

heh, thanks to that info I got to their site from animesuki. :lol

You can pretty much find all licensed anime from animesuki, just not from the front page.

It worked thanks Meta. :D

as for the new group...I didn't see any differences between their quality and K-F. They even added a preview of next episode.

I really like this new group. :D

Sent.

Yeah, if they're faster than the usual, I'll probably get their versions first and then keep the usual for posterity.

I guess I'll need a pm too, for future reference of course.

117 was pretty good, fairly silly though. I didn't really like the Clima Tact weapon.
