I think they're pretending to "ignore" the news. They are going to great lengths to delete any mention of it on the forums. Methinks they're probably debating the issue right now.

If they announce to discontinue subbing One Piece for the sake of "support anime in the U.S." I think I'll cut off a finger. Like most people here said the show most likely WON'T catch up to 98 so most fans won't watch the early DUBBED AND EDITED episodes on 4KIDS.

If they want to make a compromise, they should discontinue episodes 1-90 or something like that.. so when One Piece airs there's no alternative for the eariler episodes. man I'm just typing and typing as if I convince myself that it won't happen then it actually won't. It is good therapy though. ;)

edit:

what's scary is that other groups can't just "pick up" one piece after K-F. Japan as at episode 194 or around that. K-F are ripping the DVDs. Dammit I think I might just learn japanese once and for all to end my dependance on fansubbers. Of course then I'd have to be rich to order my DVDs from cdjapan.. :(

Well, I'm sure the K-F people are as pissed off about this announcement as anyone else. I think that's part of the reason why they're keeping silent on the issue so far. They probably HATE it, but don't want to incriminate themselves by saying they will or won't continue.

K-F continued to sub One Piece even when everyone thought Funi had the license.
So barring some sort of legal action by 4kids, I don't see why they'd stop now.

I think they stopped... that's why they're so freakin behind.

And K-F not reacting to the announcement is ONLY a good thing.

The worst case scenario is they stop subbing and AnimeJunkies comes back to sub it. Since Raws are floating around anyways...

Nah, they've had a pretty lax schedule for awhile now. I know it takes time to put these subs together, but sometimes I wish they'd move a lot faster. :\ Even if they went at a more ideal 2 releases a week, in a year, we'd only be about where Japan is NOW.

They are so far behind because they don't do it as a week by week thing. They do it when they have time. And I also believe they started (at episode 1) LONG after One Piece first began to air in Japan, but I may be wrong about that.

2 releases a week would be splendid.

I wonder why K-F doesnt expand? they can merge with another group or just hire more members. Imagine two groups, both part of K-F, subbing One Piece. We'd get an episode every 10 days at least. Dammit I'm greedy. ^__^

Like Chrono said, maybe they should consider expanding or something. I appreciate what they do on one hand, but on the other, it pains me to think that a year from now we may not even be through the Arabasta Arc since it goes to episode 130.

This is why I only read the manga versions of these cartoons. The stories are more fleshed out and even without the dopey western edits you lose something in the transition from comic to cartoon.

Manga's alright, but I'm addicted to the anime. I just couldn't imagine it as well without the familiar voice acting and music and such.

Hmm.. In the K-F irc channel there's some sort of announcement, though not by a moderator, saying that no official K-F member said they'll stop subbing one piece so "don't ask."

Good news..?

Can't wait for 98. :)

The IRC channel is gone, and the website seems to be down too.

I guess that about wraps it up for us.

EDIT! The channel seems to be fine.

I think they'll keep subbing, and that's a good thing. While I may complain about their release schedule, its better waiting forever for them to sub it than it is waiting another few years just to continue from the middle of the Arabasta arc we're in right now.

98 is out! w00t

Saw it, loved it, want more of it!!! :D

ugh.. I'll have to get used to One Piece not showing up on animesuki.. or anime.mircx too perhaps. Though I always d/l One Piece from irc-- I get 300+ kb/s from their bots and don't feel guilty later deciding how long to keep ABC seeding. ;)

w00t. just connected to their channel. It says the website will be back up by Sunday. :)

K-F's leader GTAkito to FB, Dythim and about half the remaining staff have always said licensed or not "They will be subbing this till the end of the Grand Line".

this week's manga rocks!!
gigantic spoiler:
the new member might be this guy with a freaky puppet-like face, a hat that says "Galley", cubic long nose, and insane agility (reminds me of The Flash)

btw... Luffy's first reaction in seeing his nose was "Are you Usopp?"
it's similar, except it looks like it's wood-carved or something. the guy's whole character design is puppet-like.

overall, the act felt a bit short, though.

I was kinda disappointed in 98. :( Not a whole lot actually happened. I guess I should get used to it, though since it'll be awhile before any major fights. :\

Yeah, 325 was a great chapter.

But what's with the sexual undertones in OP lately. I mean first we had "eneru" and now "kaku"...@_@

May be the guy ate a cursed fruit that made him ummm..... woody and granting him the insane agility..... makes no sense really. But we have seen another person completely changed by eating a curse fruit, the fat female pirate remember?

Since we're on the topic of sites being down, what's the deal with anime.mircx? Is the site down, or is there just something wrong on my end?

ADV filed a lawsuite, or threatened one.. something like that.. =\

:(

It sounded like ADV just requested MIRCX remove some of their series, which they have every right to do, only MIRCX wasn't set up for removal and to make sure they were not added again, so they took it down so they could figure out a way to change their system.

There's still tons of anime torrent sites.

Unless you were looking to download Mezzo DSA or Full Metal Panic Fumoffu you're fine.

Bad week for One Piece though. Bad, bad week. :(

It's just that I go to anime.mircx for all my torrents. I rather not visit 10+ fansub webpages for updates and instead just visit one. Animesuki is alright, but it doesn't list everything.

Besides licensed content, R1 DVD rips, hentai and all the other unrelated junk mircx had, what is it missing?

It'd be nice if they added a manga scanlation section though.

They do. It's just up to the scanlators(or someone) to torrent them. Most popular manga's such as Naruto have been torrented for awhile. They also have mp3s.

I mean a manga scanlation section on suki.

Hopefully mircx will take this time and clean up their site a little bit by organizing the content and filtering out some of the junk (like all the fake Naruto eps, the porn that pops up once in a while, etc).

It was starting to get pretty annoying having to shift though all of that stuff and lots of torrents didn't have descriptions at all.

Mugen: Shouta said in the champloo thread that we can't link or even hint on where to get licensed anime.. and One Piece is licensed now. :(

Yeah, it sucks. I don't care, but unfortunately, some people do. People talk about this stuff everywhere, but as GAF is a bit more of a commerical operation, nobody wants to even get anywhere NEAR trouble.

Anyway, I'm downloading 99 for continuity, but apparently its a pretty bad episode. 98 wasn't that great, either. Maybe they SHOULD just skip to the fights. :p

Correct. Several folks from anime companies read these forums and I'd rather not bring a lawsuit down on the site on top of my moral stance.

Heathen!

You sound like you went aheand and spoiled yourself with the manga.. so now the anime aint that great...?

Anyway I have not watched a single One Piece episode since 90. I have SO MUCH anime to watch I thought I'd at least see the finished series' I have and let anime like one piece/naruto pile up episodes for later. I have 9 new ones now. I'll at least watch a 10 episode marathon when I get back to One Piece.

God I love this smily.

No. K-F says on their site its the worst episode of OP ever. Unless for some reason they're being super-sarcastic about.

Hopefully someone from 4kids is reading these boards. :p

Either way, I'm sure they're very aware of how some fans feel about their acquisition.

You're going to have to skip about twenty episodes, then.

Basically,
the thing happens with the sand ocean people, then the ep 99 with the fake rebels (keeping in mind that I'm watching HK subs with totally fubared names), and Ace leaves. Then it's a long stretch of Vivi's origin, flashbacks to hot the oasis town was founded and failed, and then the setup of putting Crocodile's plans into action, and you see how really irritating Baroque Works' other characters are voiced

Between 99 and about episode 115 or so, the only really good parts are
Luffy going nuts and fighting Zoro for a bit, then stumbling upon some ruins underground, and then when Sanji owns some huge crocodiles later on when the crew gets trapped in a cage by Crocodile

Then once
the actual rebellion starts
, there's a series of cool fights that kind of show that all the characters are stepping up to the next level.

haha!

If anyone of 4Kids is reading this: I want 6 episode DVDs. That's right. One Piece is a huge series. That's 6. OK? One less and I'll blow up your offices. Ok I'm kidding.

or am I?

I hope they do little sets. Something like a 3 disc 12 episode set every 2-3 months would be perfect as long as the price was kept fair.

I really want to own One Piece, but I can't shake the feeling that 4kids is going to screw it up some how.
