PAL Charts - Week 17, 2016

I think everyone is a bit curious about how it's going to do. Is this just a case where people on this forum are letting the lack of interest here dictate what they think it'll sell, or is it just not going to do well? While Amazon isn't an exact indicator of sells, the PS4 version on Amazon UK is currently at 22 and the Xbox One version is at 48 (one place behind Quantum Break). And Ratchet is at #4 and that's nearly two weeks old now. So that's really low as big new releases generally sit in the top 10 or higher for at least a few days.

It just feels like a game that could never pick up hype no matter how hard Gearbox tried.

Bad thing is though overwatch is charting well on amazon. I think they got really unlucky in that their idea happened to also occur to blizzard, and that games launches within a similar window. the game focus sound different enough that there would be room for both games if they werent launching so close to each other, but of all the companies to compete with blizzard is one of the most daunting

Overwatch is charting well on Amazon as you can pre-order, get the beta code and cancel at a later date. I wouldn't read too much into it until release.

Not that I don't think it'll do well, it will. But the current position there probably isn't a true reflection.

Nice going Ratchet. Also, if it weren't for Yokai, PS4 would've a perfect straight flush in the top 10.

Feeling really conflicted on Starfox's performance.

49 (25) [XBO] QUANTUM BREAK
Rather curious how Aaron will spin this.

If I'm not mistaken the article highlights MK7 performance with 230 weeks in the top so far, compared to Skyrim which is #63 with 216 weeks in the top.

Hey, 6,000 for Yokay Watch first week in Spain seem very strong.
Twilight Princess HD sold 8,000 and Pokkén 7,500 for a comparation.

Good Ratchet and Clank, though if this is the second week, then it's legs at least in Spain aren't that good as in UK, since 14,500 to 5,500 is a -62% drop... still amazing numbers.

I think normal drops for second week are around ~70%. So 62% drop is quite a respectable drop. I don't remember any game doing less then 50% drop. Probably Bruno has data on highest and lowest drops for second week for the chart topping games

The 70% is for the UK and for Tuesday releases mostly.

Umm wow Ratchet and Clank is still number 1 on individual charts
http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110032

The 2K and Take 2 published ‘Battleborn’ takes the top spot and is a first No1 for the Take 2 family for over a year (last was GTA V in week 11, 2015). There’s not a lot else happening this week as the UK receives some summer sunshine and overall sales slump by 11% over last week. Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ continues at No2 (-3%) and Sony’s ‘Ratchet & Clank’ (-51%) drops from a two week stint at No1 to No3. Rockstar and Take 2’s ‘GTA V’ continues to climb another 4 places to No4 this week (+20%) and Ubisoft drop one place to No5 with ‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ (-28%), making it 9 weeks within the Top 5. It’s a few days before the release of ‘Uncharted 4’ and Sony’s ‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’ re-enters the chart at No22 (+125%) thanks to some retail promotion.

New IP from ‘Borderlands’ indie developer Gearbox Software debuts at No1.

Battleborn beat COD by 100 units while COD dropped 3%. As the individual charts linked above by Loudninja show, Ratchet and Clank and COD PS4 beat either Battleborn format in sales.

Ouch.

Did we settle on Bombaborn in the end?

RATCHET!!!!!!!! <3

So all along R&C was keeping the no.1 spot warm for Nathan Drake. Well, in the individual charts anyway.

I'd say I'm surprised Battleborn didn't reach the top of the charts, but I always had an inkling that R&C would remain where it is. It's been clear for months that Battleborn is pure bomb material after all.

To be fair, I dont think the UK take very much to colourful non-miltary shooters. I think the only one that I can think was anything like a success in the UK was timesplitters 2.

But the fact battleborn doesnt seem to be taking off in the states either is worrying.

I'm sure borderlands did all right here, would be good for some numbers for that.

Depend on the split.

If the split is 50/50, then yes, it's under 18k.

If it's 20/80, it could be even 45K.

Of Course is a example, we already Know it beat Black Ops III by ~100 Unit, so can't be big...

huh? if the R&C is at 9k and is above both the PS4 and XBO individuals, it cant be above 18k.

Mother of ratchet, beating out a new release on the individual charts after weeks on sale is some going, I'd be very worried about battleborn though it's had a very big tv ad showing too so they didn't skimp on ad monies.

Honestly have no idea why 2k were trying to appeal to kids with those ads. It was so bizarre.

What? The highest selling SKU on the UK chart this week only sold 9,000 copies?

That is correct, yes. Sales are so front loaded that it's not that rare to see this on a slow week. I just think that even it's biggest doubters were expecting Battlebomb to bomb this hard.

What's even more bizarre is the bloke doing the voice over in the ads is a football commentator so it sounds like he's talking about a game of football, I just don't get it at all it was running also nearly every ad during the football, I just don't see the cross over.

It's intended to be an eSports game, so that would explain why they'd want to have a sports connection.

Isn't Ratchet a colourful non-military shooter? ;)
But I see what you mean, other territories might be better suited for Battleborn, let's wait how they shake out. The game didn't exceed my expectations, don't know what Gearbox's are.

I think we can safely assume that it's not this. On Amazon US the best selling version of Battleborn is the PS4 version, and it will likely drop out of the top 100 best daily sellers by the end of the day (it's currently at 97).
