‘Injustice 2’ follows in the footsteps of its predecessor ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ by making No1 in the All Formats Chart in its launch week.

It is Warner’s first No1 of 2017 and the first ‘beat em up’ to reach No1 since ‘Mortal Kombat X’, also developed by NetherRealm and published by Warner, back in W18 2015. Sony’s new VR title ‘Farpoint’ debuts at No2, making it the highest position a ‘VR required’ title has ever reached in the All Formats Chart, surpassing ‘Playstation VR Worlds’ – which debuted at No7 in W41 2016. ‘Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia’ from Nintendo hits No5 in its launch week, while Focus Home Interactive’s new title ‘The Surge’ debuts at No10, forcing ‘Lego Worlds’ out of the Top 10 for the first time since its release, slipping to No11. A final new entry in the All Formats Top 40 goes to 505 Games with ‘Portal Knights’ in at No30. Several older titles re-enter the chart thanks to a retailer’s huge clearance sale, most notably ‘Skylanders Superchargers’, back in at No20 and ‘Destiny: The Collection’ back in at No31.

Sony’s new VR title ‘Farpoint’ debuts at No2, making it the highest position a ‘VR required’ title has ever reached in the All Formats Chart, surpassing ‘Playstation VR Worlds’ – which debuted at No7 in W41 2016.
Very nice.
RE7 likely remains the #1 debuting VR title but numbers would be mixed in with ordinary users.

Fantastic for Farpoint, Sony made a huge amount of videos on YouTube prior to this release and it wasn't for nothing. PS VR owners were definitly waiting for this one.

Seems harsh for The Surge however, sounds like a lot of people couldn't get through the generic art despite the good reviews.

i hoped that these Farpoint numbers will be prove to developers and publishers alike that people with VR headsets are willing to shelf out money for content.

Good start for the new entries I guess, but the fact that GTA5 is number 3 is depressing. Its a barometer for how shit everything around it is performing more than anything.

No wonder the Switch is sold out still, going by MK8D and BOTW sales, UK is a low priority restock.

Persona 5's rank in Germany is both disappointing but warranted. Here's part of the statement from Sega/Atlus when they announced their partnership with Deep Silver:

Take a seat real quick, Europe; we need to talk. I know we haven't always gotten along together, but that's the past.

They're still fucking it up for Europe.

Surprising to see Farpoint that high. It looks like PSVR owners are hungry for bigger games. :)

The Surge not doing too well isn't that big of a surprise. Lords of the Fallen had an even worse debut despite City Interactive's support.

Impressive for a VR title to debut that high though considering 3rd place is GTAV it's hard to say what that means in unit sales. Pretty big split in favour of the PS4 for injustice as well.

Switch doesn't seem like it's moving much HW in the UK judging by those SW sales. Nintendo really don't seem to be shipping much WW at the moment.

too bad we dont know percentages, but i think it's fair to say i2 launched below mkx
farpoint is pretty high though, i expect a major drop off next week

Still according to Christopher Dring Injustice 2 is up by 33% compared to the debut.
Injustice 2 is about 40% lower compared to MKX.

For reference below is estimates about MKX launch in the UK:

TOP 10 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 18 April 2015

Farpoint did great! Hopefully that will encourage more Aim support because it is dope.

Anyone has Persona PSN sales rank? Atlus must be disappointed with their European numbers.

regardless of the drop next week for farpoint, it's already a major achievemet for it. Think about it, this is a game that requires a peripheral and best played with ANOTHER peripheral. The target audience is the subset of a subset. Most Occulus or Vive devs will kill just to get those sales numbers.

12 (NE) PS4 THE SURGE (FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE)
31 (NE) XBO THE SURGE (FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE)

Holy shit at the SKU difference here. The Surge only placing #10 in the all formats chart seems to be due to Xbox player base completely neglecting the title. Why is that?

Do we have a split for it, like we do for Injustice?

Well maybe next time they could launch the game with:
A) proper amount of stock
B) localized at least to french, spanish, german and italian like any non-niche game

If they are disappointed to P5 european sales it's completely their own fault.

Well the player base for those type of games is mainly on PlayStation thanks to Dark Souls and Bloodborne. I've seen Sony promoting it lots with vids on the likes of FB too.

Farpoint out sold FE, MK and Zelda this week. Quick someone make a thread about it. /s

Good for VR but I'm still not convinced it will ever be a main means to play games.

So, Injustice 2 must have sold about 38,820 units combined. Using the 63/37 split, every game below Injustice 2 sold less than 14,363 units this week

Think about how much it would have sold if it had Knack in it.

Souls base is on the Playstation. I mean, the extra money on XBO is nice but the lion's share goes to the PS

Good point, I feel far point just saturated the market if it sold let's say 20k I mean how many psvrs were even sold in the U.K.? Can't be that many considering world wide is less than 2 mil iirc

Injustice unofficial numbers seem low at first glance but I always have trouble adjusting from weekly to monthly formats, personally I think it'll have decent staying power maybe a 40-50% drop?
Edit: using above numbers I guess far point was closer to 14k or below still pretty good penetration

The PS4 has exclusive content and marketing rights, may go some way to explain the split. Plus reviews have all mentioned Dark Souls like, which always sell a lot better on PS4.

Injustice 2 up over 30% Over the original is a very good performance with no digital included.

The Injustice IP is nowhere near the size of Mortal Kombat so MKX shouldn't be the barometer

Do we know if U.K. Follows the typical 30% split for digital or if it's lower?
Edit went ahead and did some quick math assuming a 25% digital adoption rate then injustice 2s total is near 51,760 not too shabby

I thought U.K. Games always launch on Friday's? I guess mkx did a worldwide launch ?

UK will be much lower than the average. Games here are practically double in price and most people who buy digital will buy from US stores which counts for NPD instead. I don't think we have ever gotten a digital split though but I wouldn't expect it to be high.

The only games that's remotely comparatively priced to retail are MS games, Witcher 3 and Minecraft (Minecraft is strangely actually cheaper than at retail)

Games usually launch on a Friday but not always

Why do people say things like this?

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Really impressive debut for Farpoint but Sony did some serious advertising for that game so that and PSVR users being hungry for new games probably did that.

Is that a good debut for the Surge? It had like no advertising but the reception has been pretty positive and the reviews were decent if not glowing overall.

I didn't realize Injustice 2 wasn't that big of a seller. 38k to what, SFVs 24k launch if I'm remembering that number right?

Obviously it won't have the utterly absymal legs of the latter but I'm a bit taken back by the opening.

I think nrs games just might not be big in the U.K., wd2 was considered a flop but launched at around 80k meanwhile mkx sold over 5 million copies and launched at 64k

Impressive for Farpoint.

I wonder what the split is since on Amazon for example, the bundle with the aim controller has sold more than the standalone.
