When do you guys think we will have monthly sales for the UK in term of hardware and software (in value) from jvm ?
I'm curious to see June numbers and MK8 effect on the Wii U.

11th July. A quick look on Amazon (LOL) it currently sits at:
#12 in PC & Video Games > Nintendo Wii U > Games
Which if you remove the pre-orders from that category puts it in the top 10. But as we all know there are like 3 more places to buy Wii U games that are not Amazon. It is out of stock on game.co.uk (makes me wonder if it was in stock to begin with)

I find the lack of the games GAME had on offer last week (Game & Wario, W101, Pikmin 3) in the Wii U top 10 to be curious too, but maybe that shows the top 10 is a bit more healthy than previously though.

I done a quick search on eBay searching for Wii Sports as Wii U being the platform and found nothing. Also, I was at GAME yesterday and they didn't have it. Shopto seems to have it available.

Something must be going on because not breaking the Wii U top 10 for a game like Wii Sports is a massive deal, despite being avilable online or anything else. Not everyone connects their Wii U online and this is Wii Sports, a brand that every single Wii owner was exposed to. Even just Nintendo collectors buying this game should make it pop up in 10th spot. I can't seem to get my head around it.

Edit: I found two people selling it on eBay.

It's simply based on the name, see Pokemon, GOTY editions etc. They just track sales, they don't play every one of thousands of SKUs released every year to determine whether they should be classed as the same game or not (which would be subjective anyway). It's really the most practical way for them to create an All Formats chart.

I don't believe the XB1 is launched "officially" in Portugal yet so PS systems would be competing with the Wii, 360 and Wii U [as this is only home console comparisons]. IE 360 + Wii + Wii U = 15% of Home console market in Portugal 2014 YTD. PS4 + PS3 = 85% of Home console market in Portugal 2014 YTD.

Also PS4 sold 21k through 2013 YTD so might indicate the size of the market?

Portugal is a small market. But it is even more pro Sony than Spain. Xbox One is not released officially there yet, but that doesn't change anything. Sony did a great job in supporting Portugal in the past with full voice overs for their games. Afaik MS didn't even bother to translate their OS. Portugal is pretty much a Nintendo/Sony only market. Wii was pretty big.

Anectodal evidence: The first time I saw someone play Vita in the Metro was in Lissabon.

Tomodachi is on #2 this week. But this week's charts are actually last week's.

The Racing GotY edition of Forza 5 comes out later this month. Price cuts for other games may get them on there. Otherwise Diablo 3 in mid August will be the next game that has a chance.

Also, see how doing tv ads works like a charm here. You discovered with golden sun, saw success with some other titles but still arent using it to its full potential. Even if the game is bizarre as hell, do an ad in europe and people will notice.

At least there are two games in the top 100 (Watch Dogs and Call of Duty: Ghosts) :p

By the way, Wii Sports Club is nowhere to be seen in German charts either. Was it really released last week? Anyway, this half-assed effort doesn't deserve a better reception.

With sustained hot weather, the winding down of schools for summer and no new releases, the market drops 10% units / 14% value over last week.

Ubisoft’s ‘Watch Dogs’ (-12%) remains on top, claiming its 5th No1 crown. Familiar faces continue to shuffle around the Top 10 with EA’s ‘FIFA 14’ up 1 to No2 (-13%), Activision’s ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ up 3 to No3 (-12%) and Bethesda’s ‘Wolfenstein: New Order’ remaining at No4 (-27%). 505 Games’ ‘Sniper Elite 3’ (-29%) drops 3 places to No5 followed at No’s 6 & 7 by ‘Minecraft 360’ (-3%) and ‘Minecraft PS3’ (-4%).
EA’s ‘Titanfall’ refuses to leave the Top 10 even after 19 weeks, down 3 to No8 (-24%). EA’s Battlefield 4’ continues to climb back in to the Top 10, up 1 to No9 (+2%). Nintendo climb 6 places to No10 thanks to strong sales of Wii U ‘Mario Kart 8’ (+31%). still amazed by Tomodatchi. I think they (N) are having serious regrets in not having localized the DS one back in the days....
about MK8, can we accept that it DID have an impact in Wii U sales (Sw and HW) in the West? Not that now it is the hottest item out there, but before it was (especially in PAL) simply dead, while now I think that at least we can reject (for the moment) the idea of it being discountinuedù
WD is really a success for Ubisoft, btw
PS4 is DA CONSOLE in Europe, not way to spin that around

Dumb chart-track question, they have a 3DS (full price) top 10. That would imply there is a budget top 10 yet there is not. Do budget games just not chart all...

Well, Mario Kart 8 being £30 for one day, CeX giving £29 cash and the free game promo (I don't recall there being any non-promo abuse comments about last weeks £30 flash sale) easily being abused are not worldwide.

Will be interesting to see what happens after July.

Mostly talking about US (It's actually outsold Watchdogs PS4 there), UK and Japan (not that that really counts)..

Yes, that's a game that sold millions of Wii bundles, which keeps selling great on this console years after release, approaching 35 millions.

That's why I call Mario Kart a phenomenon, and why I believe MK8 marked a change in Wii U's course. There's a probability I expect to be high, that the MK8 bundle will sell well for years.
