PAL Charts - Week 46

Damn, COD franchise is a monster now.
I was hoping that L4D would place a bit higher than #16. :/
Whoa @ Tomb Raider ps3 & 360...exclusive DLC. lol

Interesting how Tomb Raider and NFS did better on the PS3 despite the install base difference.

Ha... I just noticed PGR4 is sneaking around the top 40. :D

Wii Music should increase for it's 2nd week of sales in line with the other Wii___ titles in the UK - if not then it's in trouble.

where is the logic behind that? Other Wii ____ titles were #1 on the charts so they had tight supply... Wii Music isnt anywhere close to it, anywhere in the world
:lol Another good call by spwolf...

Ugh..wrong console Eidos?

It happens when you don't consider where your fanbase actually is :P

Ouch at the L4D opening. Even with the PC version combined, it's 5 spots behind Tomb Raider on the All Formats chart.

Here's hoping Steam sales picked up the slack, I really thought the 360 version would do as well as Orange Box.

PGR4 is being bundled with Arcade units (along with Sega Superstar Tennis), probably explains the chart position (same goes for Lego Indy and Kung-Fu Panda/Premium bundle)

Also no Rock Band 2... I heard there was weird stock problems though.

Also Mirror's Edge complete bomba, dropped completely away after last weeks mind chart debut.

I just noticed X360's Tomb Raider performance....

Looks like that exclusive demo (and the 360 TV advertising spots I am seeing) didn't help matters.... :/

Strange one that, maybe due to all the other games 360 owners have been buying and or it may have benefitted from having an Uncharted aesthetic, or maybe the demo just put people off (it did me, too twtichy)?!

Yeah, Mirror's Edge disappeared quickly. I noticed on the weekend GAME stores are bundling it free with the X360. Shopto also have it for ÂŁ28 on both platforms.

No appearance for Banjo either, Quarter 4 can be a cruel mistress

/Waits for Banjo to hit half price... :)

Lips is bomba too.

proper slow burn, that type of game

Yep I ended up buying Lips instead as I had a party that evening

MK vs DC, Lips and Last Remnant bombas.

Quite like the Lips ad actually. Which I've seen a lot of.

Just out of interest can anyone remember how the Original Singstar launched on PS2? Pretty sure it wasn't this close to the end of the year, but I'm sure that didn't fly until a few weeks later.

I still want it, but it's not an urgent purchase.

Are the 'good for parties, so-so for single player' reviews spot on?

Increased position in a i.e Top 40 list does not always mean increased sales though. I think Wii Music increased 1 spot in the Famitsu top 30 about 2 weeks ago or so, but the Wii Music sales were down 2k or 3k compared to the previous week. I think there is a chance that Wii Music could have increased in sales for it's 2nd week in the UK though, since Wii Music jumped relatively many places up and not just 1 spot up like it did in the Famitsu Top 30 chart if i remember correctly, but i'm just saying :) Hopefully Chart Track will release some percentage talk about the Wii Music sales, then we will know for sure :)

Debuted at no.12 All formats chart way back in May 04.

It's odd, if you look at the platform charts, bundled games (like KF Panda and Lego Indy) aren't included.

Mirror's Edge is 11th on the 360 charts, Rockband 2 is #17, MK vs DC is #18, Lips is #19, Banjo is #21, The Last Remnant is #25, Naruto: BB is #28.

Yea that TR stuff is quite surprising indeed especially considering TR had an X360 bundle introduced last week. Of course that was competing with a new COD:WAW bundle as well.

I bought that on launch day, and I have a vague image in my head of having to go to 3 or 4 stores to find a copy. I don't know if that was due to bad stock, or was due to it selling well.

They are included in the Budget Chart, (at #1 and #2) there is no combined chart for full price/budget unfortunately.

Thank you! So a much quieter market (even after Easter) but still a good position for an unknown brand. Hopefully Lips takes off forcing Sony & Microsoft into an escalating Scoreoke brand war and giving us decent additional features and cheaper songs.

Downloaded the Free 'Take on me' in anticipation. :D

Anyone know if we can use the PS2 Singstar disks in the PS3 yet (regardless of Backwards Compat)?

I preordered online to avoid the awkward looks from the people I knew in the games shop. Turns out everyone loves singstar now anyway!

War Rages at No1 for Second Week

24/Nov/2008

Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ reigns supreme at the top of the All Formats Chart for a second week, holding off challenges from the 2 big new releases: EA with ‘Need for Speed: Undercover’ new at No4 and Eidos with ‘Tomb Raider: Underworld’ new at No9.

Despite sales falling by 51%, ‘COD: World at War’ outsells the No2 title by 2.5 to 1 and does one better than its predecessor by holding on to the No1 spot for a second successive week. EA’s top title this week isn’t the new ‘Need for Speed’, it’s ‘FIFA 09’, as sales of the hugely successful football game jump 28%, up from No5 to No2. Nintendo’s ‘Mario Kart Wii’ accelerates 5 places up the Chart to No3, sales up 33%, followed by the aforementioned ‘Need for Speed: Undercover’ at No4. It is the lowest first week All Formats Chart position for a next-gen NFS title. Nintendo have gone from having one All Formats Top 10 game last week to 4 as sales of not just ‘Mario Kart Wii’, but 3 other longstanding big hitters all enjoy sales spikes – ‘Wii Fit’, up from No12 to No5 (sales up 45%), ‘Brain Training’ up from No13 to No6 (sales up 46%) and ‘Wii Play’ up from No11 to No10 (sales up 22%). Other than the latest Call of Duty, ‘Football Manager 2009’ is the only All Formats Top 10 title to lose sales this week, down from No3 to No7 (sales down 55%), while Eidos’ latest outing for Lara Croft ‘Tomb Raider: Underworld’ only outsells the launch of last year’s original Tomb Raider remake (Tomb Raider: Anniversary) by 6,700 units. The new Tomb Raider records 51% of sales on PS3, 34% on Xbox 360 and the remainder on Wii, PC and DS. Nintendo’s ‘Wii Music’ has a strong second week, up 67% in sales from No16 to No12, while EA register the only other All Formats Top 40 new entry with ‘Left 4 Dead’ at No15. Last week’s No2 ‘World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King’ drops heavily, down from No2 to No34 with sales down 91%, which is in large part due to the newly available Blizzard download option.

I've never played Singstar, and literally opened the game at the party. We had a whale of a time with it and it was definitly more in demand than Rockband was mainly because the song list is more girl friendly.

I did notice it was easy and gave very high scores, but peope when pissed think they are doing "AWESOME" anyway (as it often tells you!)

The song list seemed to have something for everyone.

There we have the answer, Wii Music increased in sales in it's 2nd week :) I think it is a good thing that Chart Track posted this info :)

I wonder if the CT boys realise they are adding petrol to the messageboards each week with their added details to the blurb? :lol

(oh and when I wrote my 5 reasons why WiiMusic will sell more in it's 2nd week in the previous thread I was picturing a 25% or so increase so am surprised too, maybe the first week sales were more dissapointing than previously thought?)

And in case I get shot at by Sony fans I am enjoying playing LBP with my Orange, Geeky SackBoy and yet to buy WiiMusic.

They just expected the game to sell better on the 360 (I think everyone did), like most 3rd party games.

- Very good 360 performance :D
- Layton :D

- LittleBigPlanet ;___;

Even with all of the exclusivity posturing, the game overall sold just as poorly as TR Anniversary.

Hehe ye, that is true :) What i ment with that it is good that Chart Track posted that info about the Wii Music sales is because now there is no doubt that there was an increase in the Wii Music sales in it's 2nd week :)

Ye, unfortuntaly it is hard to say on how much Wii Music sold in it's first week in the UK :\ I think it is a pity that Chart Track doesnt release hard sales numbers (or atleast they dont do it very often atleast), atleast for the 1st week sales, since then we would know how alittle better on how good or bad a game is doing instead of just getting percentage numbers. But i am happy that we get percentage numbers instead of not getting any info at all :)

I wonder how Wii Music will do in the rest of the world in the upcomming weeks and months. I'm especially looking forward to 2nd month for Wii Music in the NPD chart for USA, especially after seeing the increase in Wii Music's 2nd week in the UK. I wonder if something simular can happend in the US, and in the rest of the world :)

Anyone who wrote off Wii Music after its first week of sales was just asking for trouble. Nintendo aren't going to let it drop down and die without a fight, that is one game that will have legs over the Xmas period (helped no doubt by an increase in marketing... and that god awful family playing midi tracks in their living room...)

It's being packed in to WiiFit bundles in some stores, but due to positive reviews and ÂŁ25 price tag on Amazon I've asked relatives for it for Xmas.

The 1st week is the money shot for all non casual games. Giving that away free would be comercial suicide for GDK/CT. :)

As you say percentages are an elegant compromise (and actually better for comparing months with very different sales paterns!)

What does "money shot" means? The most important week of sales? And if they gave this info away for free, then many people wouldnt buy GDK/CT's sales numbers (they are selling them, right?)? I am just asking to be sure that i understood what you ment :) My first language isnt english, i am sorry :\

Ye, that is true, getting percentage numbers can be a better way to comparing months with different sales patterns :)

God, imagine if Brain Training got another No. 1 entry (followed by lots of hanging around the top 5 spots) this Christmas like it did last year!
