PAL Charts - Week 47, 2011

I hope you're joking. What you just listed accounts for a tiny fraction of the top 40. The U.K. top 10 is about as diverse as you get. Here is its genre breakdown, compared to the latest NPD (U.K. on the left):

FPS: 1 / 3
Sports: 1 / 3
Action/adventure: 3 / 2
Racing: 0 / 1
Music: 1 / 1
Puzzle: 1 / 0
Platform: 1 / 0

Lets give it a couple of weeks when the new releases die down from their launch weeks. The top 10 will contain two versions of COD, at least one dancing game, two versions of FIFA and at least one version of BF.

AC:R, UC3 and Z:SS will be nowhere to be seen.

The DS budget chart (predictably) shows a small bit of Amazon Black Friday impact. I mean all the offered games charted but the £2 Nintendo published ones were at lower positions than you would think. Still (probably) tiny numbers.

Quick Question on the France Zelda chart. Anyone know if that means both SKUs or just the controller one. I ask because they shipped a lot more of the non-controller one.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Rayman a flop? It's a 2D platform. It would have never opened as Skyrim or Assassin's Creed. And it's not Mario. Wait some months, and see how it will perform on Wii and 3DS.

Yeah, a 2d platformer on PS3/360 for (more or less) full price in retail... that's quite the risk to take IMO. I kept thinking the game was going to be a download only title, even after they dropped that idea.

Still not getting your point the games you mention, well two of them at least, have sold very well. The top 40 is varied enough.

It is official. The UK is the worst gaming market. All people buy here are stupid dancing games, COD and FIFA. Bunch of fucking monkeys.

that was last gen, where it was football games, license games, gta and sonic games.

Uk gameing taste has come a long way.

Other problem with the numbers could be that some of the games are all really close together and margin of error is why things don't make sense.

UC3 got a heavy discount on Zavvi @ 24.95 and sold out , it might show up again if other stores had similar deals.

So, 3D Land ~41,000, but lower than BF3.
So, it should have done 46,500 in its first week, but

08. (03) Battlefield 3 Electronic Arts - <45,000
09. (__) Super Mario 3D Land Nintendo
10. (05) Just Dance 3 Ubisoft

So, maybe, BF3 did a bit better than less than 45,000.

I'm thinking that the ACR number is high and maybe they made adjustments at some point to last years numbers so it's causing things to be slightly off.

that was last gen, where it was football games, license games, gta and sonic games.

Uk gameing taste has come a long way.
Don't forget NFS. Seemed to be a version of that in the top 10 every week.

wow kinect games. no one buys them
Not sure if joking, but there's more Kinect games in the top 40 than DS or PSP games. ;)

I'm biased though, I bought one today.

Having three games below 30 doesn't exactly mean it's blowing up the charts.

I just used FIFA numbers as they seemed more reliable, but it seems high, it is that time of year though so I don't know. The difference may just be down to rounding errors.

Anyway, another show of strength from Layton: about 60k units during its first weekend, not bad! Does anyone know how the previous entry opened?
And incredible legs for Mario, as expected; next week the bundle, therefore an increase is highly likely.

I'm disappointed for Rayman but that was bound to happen,I guess it will be put at a discounted price on the PSN/XBL soon.
Zelda bombed but the truth is that Nintendo didn't see it as a hardware seller in first place, if you look at the current Wii commercials, they're only advertising Wii Fit and NSMB which are old games.

I'm curious to see how much Rayman will sell on Vita when its launched. It seems like the perfect game for the system and is the only reason I didn't pick it up day one.

Price was way off on Rayman, I'm dying to grab it but I know it will be half price or less soon.
I think Ubisofts model is bulit round the fact they'll be price protecting it to half price after a few months weeks. Even the super cheap budget level shovelware seems that way and could possibly be the reason Rayman is full RRP.

I might dig up Rabbids go home prices sometime but IIRC it was £10 by Christmas (it might have been £15 actually).

Nice to see that the late release, lack of content, and overall decline in DS software sales haven't sunk Layton (Although I probably should be 'outraged' at the lack of London Life in the Euro version).

Perhaps Skyward Sword isn't doing so well because they launched it the same day as Super Mario 3D Land?
Still don't know what NoE was planning when they did that.

So Rayman started slowly, Kirby Wii has a disastrous start, whilst Tales of the Abyss and James Noir's Hollywood Crimes 3D don't make the 3DS Top 10.

Wow, what a week! :/

Why are so many people shocked about Zelda in the UK? It is a very specific series that doesn't sell to many people outside of the Zelda faithful. It just looks like the Zelda faithful is a really small market here at the moment.

What you'll likely find is that the Rabbids games on Wii started off rather abysmally, and then sky-rocketed as discounts hit. I imagine the same will happen for the Wii version of Rayman Origins. Just look at how steady the sales of Rayman 3D have been, for instace - it's likely one of the best selling 3DS games in the UK so far, behind Mario, Zelda and perhaps nintendogs. Rabbids 3D has been faring well in terms of legs as well.

Don't worry, it just dropped to £25.

Ugh, that is even worse! I mean, good for sales, but not good for an indication of sales numbers... Easily one of the best games of the entire year and most people pass over it because it isn't Call of Duty or Battlefield. Sadness...
