It's interesting that FIFA 14 for Xbone is so low, almost the lowest seller for Xbone except for the NFS Rivals bomba.

You can argue all you like about how Killzone is a bad game (I don't agree FWIW) but I don't think you can say GG are technically incompetent. KZ3 looked so good my eyes could hardly take it in. And they were the first FPS to really nail Move controls (alas not carried forward to KZ:SF). Seriously, they were perfect.

DF have a long and gushing article about their tech currently on EG. Nothing in it suggests to me they are hacks. Crytek probably is a good comparison - like them they just find it hard to marry good tech and good gameplay.

Xbone versions being outsold by PS4 versions despite not being out yet in Germany, as expected, continental Europe says No thank you again.

Wow, Germany has officially given the Xbox One the finger. Two games for a system that's not even out yet managed to chart higher than any game on Microsoft's console... and it was their launch week!

That's really not unexpected because of historical reasons, and while it's just a tiny glimpse of the market, Amazon.de had the PS4 way higher than the XB1 (much more so that in FR or UK).

Good luck with that 40% marketshare, MS.

"We want to improve our market share to 40 percent until the end of the year." -some lunatic

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Great debut for Zelda in Germany as well. Lots of 3DS games in chart, despite One launching. However, seeing PS4 titles outpacing One titles...despite the console releasing just this week is a great sign for Sony, at least at launch.

XBone Games were sold before console launch either.

Er, if the bundled FIFA isn't counted on the German charts I'd say there's a pretty good chance it was #1 for the week.

Related question, what is the current marketshare of the Xbox 360 in Germany relative to the PS3/Wii?

UK will still be Xboxland this gen again confirmed I guess, brand loyalty goes a long way.

Come back next week. And the weeks after, when both launch hype for PS4 and One will start losing its relevance in sales :p

Sweden and Norway knows whats up

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, 1st and 2nd place respectively

Well with the Wii U doing how it's doing, and based on the performance of the 360 and this one week of incomplete sales data, I don't see how it's farfetched that the One grabs 35% or more marketshare in Germany (for consoles).

60% PS4
5% Wii U
35% Xbone

would still be an increase for MS if the market doesn't shrink dramatically. Note that this would still be a worse performance relative to Sony.

The only things GG are good at are graphics and shooting mechanics. I am really afraid whatever they will do next may turn out even more critically and commercially a flop

Didn't they hire the lead open world story guy from New Vegas? If he is given a free hand, next game could be great.

But it could certainly shrink dramatically. 4.6M people bought Wiis, out of that total 7th gen 10.9M.

If for the sake of discussion ~4M of those people were expanded market that are less likely to buy any of these home consoles and thus we have around 7M systems sold, your expectations of marketshare amount to:

350K Wii Us
4.2M PS4s
2.45M XB1s

Setting aside that, even with how poorly the Wii U is selling, that still seems a low eventual LTD (as it currently stands at 160K), in such a scenario the relative position of the PS4 and XB1 remain roughly the same as during 7th generation PS3 and 360 in absolute unit terms. This despite Microsoft no longer operating at a price or time on market advantage.

The PS3 and 360 basically split the "HD core games console" market at a ratio of 1.6:1 this gen with those aforementioned advantages. I don't see why that would only shift to 1.7:1 (60%, 35%) without those advantages.

No way. They have 38% market share vs PS3 alone this gen with a 17 month headstart and a lower price point for the life of the console. There is absolutely no way MS get anywhere near 35% in any European country other than the UK. Dropping from 38% to 35% would require MS to hold onto 2.2m out of the current 2.4m 360 owners in a similarly sized market. The real figure is going to be much, much higher. The expanded audience from the Wii have all moved onto iPad and most aren't coming back.

Microsoft don't have the same advantages they had last time, in fact they have a price disadvantage. Sony should be looking at at least 80% market share vs Bone in Europe and >70% market share for the total next gen including Wii U.

Yes, total numbers paint a wrong picture. Besides the 17 month headstart, 360 was constantly overshipped in germany and therefore often selling for 50-100€ less than everywhere else.
Last year the ps3:360 rate was about 70% vs 30%.

This generation it's gonna be way worth for MS as they lost the hardcore crowd.
With 100€ more, they can be lucky if they reach 25%. Titanfall is not gonna change that (at least in germany where pc rules).

Protip: Black Friday sales have an impact on UK charts, but it's not that big (particular items reappearing in charts for sure, but, from what I've seen, only a few - including Revelations 3DS, Rhythm Thief and Dead or Alive 3DS :lol ); such influence is definitively massive in US Amazon chart. However, some PS4 and One titles participate in deals as well, and titles like both Pokémon SKUs (just $5 deal), Animal Crossing (around the same as the price it has for some months), Mario Kart 7 (not that different from the most recent price), Zelda and Mario (still full price) are higher than all next gen efforts.

I got I feeling the Wii is a major reason for why Wii U is struggling in Europe. The machine is still have a big active userbase around there and aren't willing to migrate to Wii U so easily. I think Nintendo is suffering the same problem from Sega in the US in the Genesis days. Saturn came out and the Genesis userbase was still active and didn't migrate to the successor so quickly. Wii U's confusing name, awful advertising, lack of retailing stock and shortage of quality games isn't helping either, but as long the Wii does have an active userbase around there, Wii U will keep struggling. Nintendo needs to kill off Wii as soon as they can if they want Wii U to stand a chance.

I don't think you are correct. That is exactly what Sony has always been doing with every generational transition and they have gained a lot from it.

The major reason people aren't buying the Wii U in Europe is that people in Europe don't want the Wii U.

If there was still a highly active Wii userbase the software sales for the platform wouldn't have collapsed.

People in Europe not even know what Wii U is to begin with, you talk like people have developed a denial against it. That's not how it works.

Nintendo has long abandoned the Wii and still there are still games selling on the machine, as the charts indicates, so there are an active userbase, there's no denial.

You can take Sega Genesis, GBA and Nintendo DS as examples in the US of platforms that were still hot when their successors came out and slowed down their sales at the beginning. PSP did the same in Japan, too. It won't be surprise if PS3 eat PS4's cake considering it's still hot and PS4 isn't that appealing yet.
