I thought the UK market was dying?
The market is incredibly dangerous unless you're one of the massive annual franchises on PS3 and 360. Just look at the chart. It's Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, Halo, Just Dance and FIFA. For significant sections of the market those games will be the only ones they'll buy in the entire year.
Far Cry 3 and Hitman Absolution seem to be exceptions to the rule, but have both had heavy marketing and in Hitmans case, a number of early price deals etc.
Those games are selling well but the picture is much less rosey just about everywhere else. They're also games available on consoles that have been on the market for the last 6 to 7 years. Every new system since then and including the Wii has either dived off a cliff or struggled to sell.
The numbers might be healthy for the "winners" at the top there but I don't think that paints a particularly pretty picture of the whole market.
