Of the 170 weeks since it was first released, it has remained in the Top 10 for over 130.

‘Final Fantasy XV’ moves down two places to No6 ahead of another RPG ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Ed.’ up two places to No7. Retailer promotions help power a second Bethesda title ‘Dishonored 2’ nine places up to No8. Several other titles benefit from Pre-Xmas sales this week with Ubisoft’s ‘Steep’ also climbing nine places to No9. ‘Mafia III’ edges out ‘Rocket League’ for the last spot in the Top 10. ‘Overwatch’ is another title making a nine place jump with sales propelling it up to No12. May as well put in my post from the last thread here

Overwatch, damn. The pattern of a seasonal period with special content combined with a sale most times has done wonders for the sale of that game. Keeps people talking about it and those that haven't picked it up yet get a decent deal. Wonder how long it will chart into next year.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Last Guardian hasn't dropped in price or anything right? Has a pretty comfortable week 2 % drop.

Wait, do you mean had a confortable Week 2 drop or that it just dropped 2% in its second week? The latter would be super-unexpected.

Hah, the sales for Watch Dogs actually went up, good to see. Seems the game is doing pretty well after all, deserved.

I do hope we see a ww number for TLG at some point.

For the record since we are talking about price, The Last Guardian remains one little rank above Dead Rising 4 in value. TLG is #10 and DR4 is #11. Also, FF15 PS4 is up one rank in the value charts (#8) which is cool :)

I'm surprised to see Steep so high even after the almost immediate price drop (well it's still selling poorly, but technically it is in top10).

Have Watch Dogs 2's sales actually increased though? Or are you just referencing it going up two places in the charts? Also, it's has savage discounts since launch.

This is actually great for FF XV. Compared to XIII which was down from 4th to 15th in it's third week in the value charts.

Watch Dogs 2 is doing well because it already got a substantial slash in price last week. You can buy it for £28 most places now. FFXV could also be bought for £33 on Amazon last week, and maybe other places too. I'm glad these games are holding on, but y'know, there are reasons for them doing so.

This is Christmas Charts so it is normal for practically all games to get an increase or a great hold in sales.

Overall sales are over 20% down this week though, it has been a really rough Q4.

Call of Duty is once again the UK's Christmas No.1 video game - according to the GfK box charts.

Not that it was a particularly glorious pre-Christmas week for UK physical retail. Just over 1m games was sold, which sounds a lot, but is actually over 20% down compared with the same week a year before. One senior retailer told me this week that selling games during Q4 has been "like walking through treacle."

We have discussed at length what may be causing the sudden drop in the market, from consumers buying fewer games and spending longer in them, gamers holding off until the prices drop, too many similar games released at the same time, digital taking a higher percentage of sales... but a more simplistic reading of the chart is that there weren't as many stand-out hits this year.

Namely, no Fallout 4.

Yet if you look at this week's Christmas charts and eye what has done well, then you'll see that there were a lot of games that beat expectations over Q4 - and these were the titles that offered something a little different from the usual shooters.

Take the recent Forza Horizon 3. It is No.16 this week, but it continues to do very well. If you compare this Christmas chart to last year's, you'll see that Horizon 3 sales are 70% higher than 2015's Forza Motorsport 6 (and that had been on shelves longer). This year, Forza benefited by being the only racing game released in the last four months of the year.

The Skyrim remake (No.7 this week) has also done incredibly well, and it helped that it was the only real RPG to come out until Final Fantasy XV popped up a couple of weeks ago (and that game is doing decent figures, too, although it's not clear if it is meeting Square Enix's expectations just yet).

In fact, look across the board at the over-performers, such as Pokemon Sun and Moon, and it proves that you don't need to be about shooting to do well at Christmas.

Elsewhere, Watch Dogs 2 continues to show improvement after its disappointing first week - it's not quite matching Assassin's Creed's annual numbers yet, but it has generated a decent install base and looks like a long-tail seller. Sales rose 73% this week and the game is back in the Top Five.

Steep is another game showing long-tail success. Its initial launch was a bit underwhelming, but its sales rose in its second week and has now risen again in its third - up 60% week-on-week, which means it finally breaks into the Top Ten.

Elsewhere, discounts on Dishonored 2 brought that game back to the charts, Mafia III sales shot up to make No.10, while there was sales growth for FIFA 17, Grand Theft Auto V and Overwatch.

Last week's big new releases - Dead Rising 4 and The Last Guardian - fall to No.18 and No.20 respectively.

Here is the GfK/UKIE Christmas Charts:

"you'll see that Horizon 3 sales are 70% higher than 2015's Forza Motorsport 6 (and that had been on shelves longer)"

Hot damn.

COD still rules over all even in a "bad" year.
I'm sure by mid 2017, the game will have had put up decent numbers, though I still expect at least a 25-30% drop over Blops III.

Last Guardian hasn't dropped in price or anything right? Has a pretty comfortable week 2 percentage drop.

Cool.
People in the older PAL thread mentioned TLG is still quite expensive at online and retail so a decent drop like what you allude to is encouraging.

Eurogamer are also reporting that GTAV has sold 6 million copies in the UK. Absolutely crazy. Most games would be happy to get lifetime sales of 6 million.

Grand Theft Auto V has reached 6 million units, a record that will never been topped. It probably has more than enough fuel in the tank to make it to 7 million.

2015 - 948,790 / 5,526,399
2016 > 473,601 / > 6,000,000

Because its a 2% drop?

Chart position does not matter.

It's not a 2% drop, read that post again now that he edited it. There was a gap between the 2 and % for a reason.

That said, what's to be confused about? The positions on the charts mean little, Kyonashi actually has access to the numbers and he said it had a good second week.

Great to see FFXV and WD2 holding in there. Holy sheeeet at GTA V. Judging from the the thread comments, I'm glad that the sales seems solid for TLG with the high price point.

Exactly.

Mediocre results at best, considering the magnitude of the game in terms of hype, waiting and also marketing efforts.

And yet the game that was a mega success because it beat the TLG in sales last week DR4 had its price slashed. Could it be that different games have different sales expectations.
