UK :

Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ still hasn’t run out of puff at the top of the All Formats Chart, leading for a third consecutive week and notching up its 6th week in total at the top, despite competition from 4 All Formats Top 10 new entries.

Ubisoft find themselves at No3 with ‘Lost: The Video Game’ on 360/PS3/PC debuting ahead of THQ’s newcomer ‘Frontlines: Fuel of War’ on 360/PC at No4, but by only 153 sales. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 RPG ‘Lost Odyssey’ is the third highest new entry at No6 continuing a trend this week of new releases with the word ‘lost’ in the title (Capcom’s ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ is new on PS3 this week, but just misses out on a Top 40 placing). EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Freetime’ rounds off the new releases at No10. Strong sales of the white Nintendo DS Lite Brain Training bundle contribute to a boost of 24% in DS Lite hardware sales, helping the original Brain Training game reach No2 for only the second time in the All Formats Chart, up from No3, while the sequel jumps back into the Top 10, up from No15 to No7. The original Kawashima is now No1 in the DS Chart for the 41st time, taking back the top spot from ‘Mario & Sonic’. Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’ re-enters the All Formats Top 10, up from No27 to No9 thanks to the release of the PSP version (No1 in the PSP chart). There are new No1s in every major individual format chart this week, including ‘Lost: The Video Game’ at No1 on PS3, ‘Frontlines: Fuel of War’ No1 on Xbox 360 and ‘The Sims 2: Freetime’ No1 on PC.

Wouldn't it be better if it did alright, as in well enough to justify future games of the type but poorly enough to send a signal to make the future games of the type a bit better?
 
it's funny how nostalgia blinds people. you would need very thick glasses on to miss the fact that super mario galaxy is way better than sonic and the secret rings.
they are both heavy on nostalgia due to the mascots but i guess sonic was bigger in the UK than mario back in the day.
 
Mario & Sonic's LTD by now must be making Sega run in circles of giddy joy nowadays. Hell, even Sonic and the Secret Rings is still going good.

Shame Mario Galaxy dropped so far, but at least New Super Mario Bros. is STILL GOING AT THE SAME PACE IT HAS FOR OVER A YEAR.

Mother's Day advertising kicks in for Brain Training, and another amazing performance for Mario and Sonic!

There was a Sony PR release a few weeks ago, which must have been shipped numbers as expected, this week there is confirmation PS3 has passed 1 million units in the UK, officially (sold through to consumers), pressumably from Chart Track:

MCV - Sony hails retail as PS3 hits 1m
PlayStation 3 has officially sold one million units at UK retail, hitting the milestone faster than PSOne or PS2.

I think this makes it 49 weeks, can anyone confirm? We know from Chart Track PS2 did it in 50 weeks, 360 took 60 weeks and Wii managed it in 38 weeks.

I think a game of this caliber should do fucking amazing, since it is a thoroughly engaging JRPG with a fantastic skill system, great characters, a wonderful score, and a zanily challenging difficulty level.

It's a fantastic game that doesn't deserve to do "poorly enough" for any reason I can think of.

A PSP game in the top 50! Patapon wasn't going to make it due to the $70 price tag. Hopefully Chains of Olympus or Crisis Core will make it too.

I didnt realize that Lost (the TV show) was so big outside of the US. Pretty decent opening for the game.

What the fuck is up with those UK charts? Burnout Paradise PS3 selling more than 360, but 360 DMC4 is way ahead of PS3 DMC4, but the PS3 CoD4 outsold 360 CoD4, but 360 Fifa Street 3 outsold PS3 Fifa Street 3 is all alone and Lost sold more on 360 than PS3.

It doesn't. SMG is one of the biggest selling Wii titles and easily the biggest selling platformer of the generation. In the UK alone it's sold over 300K, which is great.
