PC GAF what is the Max you would pay for a GPU

I bought the 4090 for 1500. I think max would be 2k but it needs to be a high end card. 5090 is in the netherlands arround 4k so iam going to keep the 4090 as long as possible with these new prices

Around the cost of a console ($600-700).
More than that for just the GPU seems ridiculous to me.

See topic
My limits is 5000$ after that fuck it I'm changing hobby.

Nvidia is like
"Well we have the product just for you!!!. Introducing the 8gb RTX6050ti!!!"

My budget is up to 999€, and only because I have a big backlog of games that won't run on my Steam Deck very well. Also because of GTA VI PC release. And only because I already have otherwise very capable hardware. If not for that, 600€ would be my maximum.

I wouldn't pay more than a console for the price of a gpu by itself. So realistically they've already mostly priced me out. The last GPU I bought new at full price was a 1070.

I bought RTX 2080 Ti in 2018 which was around 1100 euros. Lasted me 4 years. But the next GPU was 3080 Ti which I got for 600 euros, much more palatable.

The GPU discussion made me check how much my pre-built 9800x3d/5080 computer costs today. I paid 32k SEK ($3.500), now it costs 39k. Price increased by $756.
That's ruff, but not THAT bad.

I think it also depends on what I get out of said GPU. I don't mind going around €1000 with some wiggle room for a damn good GPU that will last me for a long time.
Currently have a RTX 5080 that I got almost 2 years ago. Got a whole PC to go with it that I built myself, costed me €3199 in total.

It was always about $500 for me.

As the market moved the prices up, I simply bought lower models, as long as it doesn't go over $500 limit.

I don't care what they like to pretend is 'mid-range" over at Nvidia and their digital foundry mouthpieces.
If it's over $500, it is more than a luxury item. That's it.

Developers will just have to adapt to what the average gamers have in their computers, and if it's lower specced stuff, theyll just have to change their game and graphics to fit. Not the other way around.

Paid $1250 for my current PC. 4070Ti, i9-14900, 32GB 5200 MT/s RAM.

So, about that much.

Around 2k, like I paid for the 5090. I don't think I can justify anything above that, though a beast of a card able to run local models might help me spend more but we're a few generations away from that

I offset the cost most of the time so the 5090 that I paid 2400~usd for was offset by selling the 4090 for 1700 at the time. By the metric of what I'm telling, I would extrapolate maybe 700-1000 after selling my last GPU. That's assuming it something like a founders edition and not the pimped out AIB cards that cost more than 1k more than an FE.

I only buy pre-built PCs and rarely upgrade them. Also generally prefer gaming laptops.

I one spent $8,000 on one.

I was young and dumb and quite wasteful with money.

Now my max is probably $4k.

Not sure.
I bought a 4090 second hand for £1400 back in March 2024 i sold it last December for £1800 then went on to buy a 5090 for 2k
So if i can do the same again and upgrade to a 6090 for £600-700 i would be ok with that.
