PewDiePie responds to talks about how much he makes

He's a good guy and hilarious. Turns out it made him successful. Got him tons of views and money from it as a result. People need to let it go.

I don't care for his vids but he seems a decent enough guy and I don't begrudge him for earning well from entertaining a large number of people. I'd certainly love to be in his place earning only a fraction of what he does
If I wasn't a crippled wreak about being on camera for all to see that is
.

It's a shame that he feels like he has to explain himself to the droves of jealous rabble. I don't watch his videos but I wish him the best of luck and I hope he doubles his income this year.

He is a prime example of hustling your way to a better life. Something about that seems to really bother the unsuccessful.

PewDiePie knows how to dress like somebody who doesn't look like a social reject. If non-gamers at least know of one gamer I rather it be somebody who actually looks like a normal human being and "the pewds" has got that.

I love people that say they could do it too.
If they could, they would. Who wouldn't try and make a living off of their hobby? Is that not one of the bigger dreams in this game called life? Do what you want and get paid for doing so?

Also as someone who once dabbled in multimedia content creation video editing is one of the more tedious things one can choose to do. It is not glamorous. It is not what I would describe as fun although I am sure there are people out there who think it is. It is however a lot of work, so it is not like the kid just hits record then upload. He puts some work into it as well.

Nothing but respect to him for taking something he loves and figuring out how not only to make a living off of it, but to earn massive amounts of money. If he plays his cards right and remains relatively reasonable, he is already well on his way to being financially secure for the rest of his life.

And as someone who is now 40 years old and worried I am going to have to work well into my 70's, that really is the end goal in this game called life. Make enough money so you can actually live your life before you die. Thing is he figured out how to do it in the prime of his life. No wonder people hate him. They are jealous . He figured it out and they did not. I personally respect the hell out of that. Even if it is not my cup of tea, I respect anyone that bends the system to work for them.

Thanks to a shoutout contest, he's the reason Gaf's own JackSepticEye took off, who's over 5 million subs and growing at a very fast rate.

Damn...reminds of a Dave Chapelle skit about Clinton and Lewinsky.

As soon as I can afford a decent camera..... Mine might not be just gaming tho.

Building a following for something isn't easy. At all. Capturing peoples' attention is not easy.

There's a lot of people diminishing what he does because it's "easy" or "stupid" and definitely a lot of people saying they could do it as well -- If you want to do it, then do it. I am sure you'll find that it's not easy to gain a following. It requires zeroing in on something that connects with people, but, more importantly, it also requires consistency. It takes a lot of time to do something like this.

To anyone who thinks it's easy, well, go get the easy money.

Not only that...but I assume he is....working from home?

I can see why there is hate. This guy should be a lesson, an inspiration. Seeing him makes me wish I had tried harder at selling on eBay years ago.

I would love to make my own gaming channel. Not really the kind of personality-driven LP stuff like PewDiePie, but rather just talking about game topics like Errant Signal or Satchbag, with more of an emphasis on game audio and music.

The thing I find most daunting and discouraging about starting out though is navigating the whole copyright clusterfuck.

Here are my thoughts on PewDiePie:
When I was the age of his target audience I liked Crazy Frog and thought the Grudge was a great movie.

They'll grow out of it

In the mean time he's making good money making dumb videos for kids

Good response.

People like his stuff. He makes a lot of stuff. Lots of people watch said stuff. He makes lots of money.

He's no different from any other entertainer in that sense. I see zero wrong with the amount he makes, and I don't even watch his videos.

Haters are like free advertisers lol, the more hate he gets the more views he will get.

Dude makes decent videos and is making money of what we all enjoy doing, good for him.

How is this guy any different from any other entertainer making money. They watch for him not the games he plays.

I suppose because other entertainers usually display some kind of talent? Like actors or comedians or a dancer or whatever.

This guy mostly plays video games while spouting nonsense and pulling silly faces.

Shitty actors get flak for making money with no talent too.

He produces content that millions of people enjoy that has a media value. I don't know why people are so surprised he earns coin from it.

I don't watch his stuff but he's done well for himself.

People think creating content is easy. It really isn't.
creating compelling content that reaches an audience is definitely not easy.

But, people gonna keep drinking that hatorade

Who is a good video game entertainer to you? Can you articulate why his videos are bad? Or are his videos bad just because?

Good for him. Can't believe people are that jealous.

Come on dude, you don't have to be demeaning. You don't have to like him but don't call people who do dumb or imply they are without "taste".

Nobody made a fuss when Robert Pattinson scored $83+ million dollars for those terrible Twilight movies, why hate on this guy? His growth to this point has been largely organic due to the structure of YouTube and he even pokes fun at himself all the time for his mistakes (a sign of humility).

I would be more concerned with how much money is spent on entertainment in the world vs how much is spent fighting disasters and supporting world relief organizations.

I agree completely. My younger cousin watches his stuff religiously. Maybe I'm just too old (26) but what he does just doesn't relate to me. I don't see it, but I can't know the guy. The people who give him flak over the amount he makes are just haters. And it's understandable. When you're at the top you also have a big target on your chest.

Haters gonna hate.

I used to watch his videos but I outgrew them but if there's people who enjoy it, who cares I never got why people hate people for liking stuff they don't like.

How much editing does he actually have to do? Isn't let's play pretty much uncut footage? I don't think that he's lazy or something like that, but I think overall he has one of the easier jobs.

He called the videos dumb, not the people. And that Pewdiepies main demographic are kids/teens isn't a secret.

nah, he cuts out a lot of stuff and only shows highlights in his LPs. there's probably only a handful of LPs that are uncut from what i've watched. tons of work, imo.

That's interesting. Don't think I've seen a Let's player do that before.

The dude makes millions of dollars a year without poisoning the environment, exploiting sweatshop labor, or acting as a corrupting influence on governments: the world would be a much better place if we could say the same about more millionaires.

I take no issue with him and it's stupid and petty if anyone is giving him grief over it.

80% of the posts in this thread are patting him on the back for being the internet capitalist Jesus.

He's successful. Good for him. He's also a fuck. The two sentiments aren't mutually exclusive.

He's another person to add to the college drop out millionaire list.

He edits the most out of any Let's Player I know, often playing multiple games for gags for one video.

I don't watch his videos, but my issue with his whole "thing" is that he came from money. Or at least that's what I recall reading somewhere; not a lot of people have the luxury to sit around and film themselves playing games. Lots of people living paycheck to paycheck; It must be nice when you've got a silver spoon and time to waste.
