PewDiePie responds to talks about how much he makes

Shrewd dude. A response to gain views from even the people who don't watch or like his videos.

I'm not a fan. The handful of videos I've seen of his are nonsensical in the worst way, and I think it's a shame that so many thousands of quality producing individuals on YouTube get jack while he gets lifetimes worth of money in a single year.

I won't be contributing to his views with this video, or any others.

Haha, the response about war being a better cause was hilarious. Honestly, the people hating so much on him have such a tiny insight ability, if it bothers them that much that a man makes a crapload of money doing something he loves while affecting no one then they should be questioning why does it bother them instead of yelling at the clouds.

He's a content creator, and people will have opinions on these things, it's only natural, and others like myself will continue to be absolutely baffled by the popularity of it all. (It's kids, right? it has to be the kids).

Whatever, Youtube is weird.

And the part about scrounging for a living I find a little hard to accept. Mother is a CIO and father is a Chief Executive of another company. He found is niche and makes it work, I get that and props to him; but I think his economic background already put him half-way up the ladder and gave him a pretty big advantage to do what he does.

So, is it another story of the rich getting richer?

Great response! I'm not much for his general content, but he seems like a cool guy.

Also, people shouldn't miss his best (?) work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZCS9trzaCw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPp6ZVD58qk

i generally hate his content (nothing against the man himself), but these were pretty good. They got a laugh out of me.

Anyways, I can't fathom people that get angry over the money he makes. Yes, his audience is likely mostly children, but he found his niche and is making a killing making video game videos. I'd scream at video games and act retarded if it meant I got to rake in millions a year and play video games/produce videos.

He produces content that millions of people enjoy that has a media value. I don't know why people are so surprised he earns coin from it.

I don't watch his stuff but he's done well for himself.

People think creating content is easy. It really isn't.

I wanted to post exactly this.

I am not into his videos, but really, good on him, he's doing what he loves and making an incredible amount of money from it which doesn't hurt, more power to him.

Well I never liked him really - not my style - but this video made me think much better of him. So Congrats to him and all the best.

He actually responds to this exact criticism, which you would know if you watched the video.

"It really doesn't matter what you think. Life is not fair. This is how it is. If you think someone else is funnier, go refresh their videos over and over because...that's how we get paid."

I never ever liked his content on games but whenever I see he's done a video like this I make sure to have a look so I don't blind hate on him. He's a fantastic speaker and a really nice guy, clearly. It's a shame that people can't get over that he gets paid a lot to be what is essentially an entertainer, something they wouldn't bat an eyelid about if it wasn't from video games.

I listened to Felix on a podcast once, he was actually a pretty great host (or co-host? I can't quite remember his title), he wasn't playing himself up like his Let's Play persona as much, I actually like the guy more after I heard it. Still don't watch his Youtube stuff, but I respect the guy for being able to make a living out of finding his niche, and I respect him for all the charity work he does.

I started watching him a couple of days ago and I must say I feel left out, he does amazing job has a great sense of humour and his video editing is stellar, he also loves to make fun of himself and he really cares about his fans :)

Hilarious :D

I don´t care much for the stuff he does (I´m probably too old), but there´s no arguing that he´s a very likable guy.

I tried watching him once, turned off immediately when he started shrieking. Couldn't bear it.

But why anyone hates him for making money off his audience is just weird, dude is just like any other entertainers out there.

I don't really like the guy but I also don't really like the discussion about how much money he makes either. Why do people care?

Having never watched anything the guy has done he seems totally fine as a guy, he has a persona and those who comment on his videos are a little unique.

No one is forcing these people to watch his videos. So I must have missed a reason as to why everyone is so angry.

I don't care for him at all, but it is clear a lot of people do really like him and are entertained by him. So in that sense, he totally deserves to make so much money for entertaining so many people. Don't have a problem with it.

I think the guy's videos are terrible, but people like him and he's not doing anything unethical as far as I know.

Dude did something anyone else could and got very successful doing so because people like him. Good for him, he deserves every dollar he gets.

Truly, the Justin Bieber of Let's Plays/reaction videos.

Life isn't fair, once you've learnt that it's ok. I agree with his video, I don't follow his content but seems like an alright person who's just earning his money. There's plenty of high paid jobs vs other high paid jobs which have vastly different work loads, life isn't fair.

It's also a good point that if he wasn't there, someone else would be.

Simple as fucking that. I never had anything against youtubers because it's something never cared about. After the 7mill news everywhere I went to check who the hell was this guy and I must say that had a lot of fun watching his Bloodborne and DarkSouls videos. He has a great way of editing and a funny joke every five seconds. If he knows how to get advantage of all this, I'm happy for him.

At the end, it is entertainment that doesn't hurt anybody or anything. Not like big entertainment for mass do.

Edit: His reply about the war comment nails it.

I don't usually watch his videos (I rarely watch any youtuber, tbh), but PDP always seems like a nice and honest guy. I can respect the amount of work he has put into his videos over the years. Someone has to be at the top and I'm kind of glad it's him. I imagine it could've been someone far, far worse.

People who hate this guy should remember one thing.

He single-handedly saved the survival horror genre.

I don't really watch his work, but for that, I am immensely grateful.

The problem that anyone has is that they think his content sucks. And to me, it does.

But he's got an enormous audience who laps it up so......... There you have it. Nothing to be angry over.

pewdiepie is basically the human equivilant to COD for a lot of people. he's clearly popular, and loved by many fans, and gets tons of attention with every release. and yet there is this die hard group of haters who are adamant it's shit and those millions upon millions of people are wrong despite all that.

he's popular. there is a reason he's popular. deal with it.

How much editing does he actually have to do? Isn't let's play pretty much uncut footage? I don't think that he's lazy or something like that, but I think overall he has one of the easier jobs.

He called the videos dumb, not the people. And that Pewdiepies main demographic are kids/teens isn't a secret.

You can just compare him to other videos to tell. And he's pretty good at photoshop, his videos have good preview images which sell them well(and others have copied). Its not entirely random that he is where he is.

With the exposure he gives Youtube and advertisers he probably is underpaid, as are most Youtubers.

I really don't like his style but it's kinda shitty everyone hating. He's literally living the dream, and he's not a piece of shit on anything, and even when he made jokes that may have been offensive, recognised that and said "hey my bad, no more of that! Sorry!"

REALLY HATE HIS VIDEOS ANYWAY but this one was 100% on point.

Well, Bieber is kinda an asshole in real life and a bad role model, and I never got that sense from pewdiepie, he seems like an OK dude.
That's entirely subjective.
Not really. Bieber gets arrested for drunk driving, vandalism, assault. He is demonstrably a bad role model. He also bought a monkey and then abandoned it.

PewDiePie makes goofy videos, likes living quietly and anonymously in places where people don't know he's famous, seems to love his girlfriend and his pets, and is universally described as being kind to fans.

What is subjective about that?

You know what, he actually did make me laugh
here. Good response and people indeed need to look at real problems instead of calling out on a successful entertainer they do not like.
