PewDiePie responds to talks about how much he makes

Props to the guy for doing something he loves and making a living out of it. Pretty much everyone here would want to be in the same position as him (if they could).

I don't particularly like his videos but he seems like a pretty reasonable guy.

He sounds like a super villain when he laughs. 2:28 That's definitely the laugh of someone who gets millions of dollars for playing games and talking about them.
You seem to have a big problem with this guy.

I find it strange that this guy annoys people so much.

Don't hate the guy but I am jelly of the bank he makes.

You are not alone...lol.

How is this guy any different from any other entertainer making money. They watch for him not the games he plays.

Exactly. Me singing or acting might not be what ppl would pay to see or hear.

Me delivering lines from Training Day ....might not go over as well as Denzel doing it.
At the same time Denzel singing might not be what ppl pay for. Unless he can actually sing or its a musical. Training Day with lesser actors might have been a flop.

I applaud him for making money, lots of it, doing something he likes.

Not gonna watch the video, but why should he have to make a video discussing how much money he earns?! He's the most watched person on the biggest video website in the world; of course he's going to earn a good salary out of it.

Yup. While few will admit it, I think people are more annoyed at this than how much money he makes.

Compared to other YouTubers he doesn't come across as a person that is just in it for the money. Some YouTubers come across as big headed look at me types.

I don't think you realize just how terrible the other people who enjoy this hobby actually are.

I could be a famous youtuber I just don't want to and have crippling self-confidence issues.

Pew's videos are bleh but in every interview or video I see with him when he isn't 'on' he comes across really friendly and well-meaning. I'll take him being the 'King of YouTube' over a ton of other people.

He's a human and when this stuff comes out he comes under attack by shitty people and I'm sure he wants to get some things off his chest.

Jealousy makes people sound pathetic. I wish I was better looking so I could pull off wearing women's bikinis.

1. I didn't watch the video or read the article.

2. Anyone who "hates" him because he makes bank is just jelly. Clearly, many people find value in his videos, I may not be one of them but that doesn't mean he doesn't hold value to millions of other people. It's like people who hate on Justin Bieber.

People on Twitch have singlehandedly managed to be lightyears more annoying and pathetic than him. He just does videos and gets paid for views, he doesn't constantly whore himself out for donations.

Dude made an extremely good living playing video games in front of a camera. I don't see why people get mad at him, I'd rather take notes. I was never a fan of his but you can't knock the hustle.

He puts a lot of hours in and certainly earns what he makes.

I think his actual, "content", is about as shallow as playing videos games on camera could possibly get, but that's just me. It does take talent to be on camera. As god awful annoying as he is, he's anything but awkward or unsure of what he's doing. Watch a few videos of people who have no idea what they are doing and you'll see a difference.

Humble or no though, he did kind of perpetuate an incredibly annoying fan base and did nothing to try to curb some of that annoyance and instead embraced it, at least for a while. So for that, I really can't think much of him; anyone who spreads annoyance is annoying. But to say he doesn't deserve what he's earned is ludicrous.

I remember seeing a video or reading something where he addressed this before, but he's a good dude. His stuff doesn't have to be your thing but a lot of people are entertained, can't hate him for that. The only people who have a problem with it are jealous IMO and aren't mature enough to do anything with those feelings other than lash out on forums and social media.

I don't even watch his videos but haters are just going to hate no matter what.

Good for him that he is doing what he likes and making bank on it.

Go dude!

I absolutely hate his style, but you would never catch me saying I wouldn't want to make that much money doing what he does.

Plus, he's a genuinely nice and smart guy.

He was at the right place at the right time.

Good looking, lucky guy who happened to make LP's at a time when YouTube game videos weren't really huge. He had the ability to continue to provide something that lots of people liked. Nobody should fault him for that.

No jealousy whatsoever, props to him for doing what he loves, enjoying his life, and entertaining millions of fans around the world.

People should put the anger towards true scum of the world, who screw over millions of people in order to horde billions to their names.

I hate the game, not the player. Crazy that somebody can act a fool playing videogames and get paid for it. I might be jelly, and his fool ways don't interest me, but he gets props for making money WHILE DOING A HOBBY.

The bullshit people give him for just getting big without any shady moves is lame as hell, honestly.

Like, how sad do you have to be to sling so much hate towards someone who does something you, arbitrarily, don't find to be contributing to society. Some of you all need help.

I just learned he raised 1M for charity, that hasn't been mentioned anywhere and I'm not surprised either.

Guy makes 7.4Mil and generates 1Mil for charity so approx 15% donated. Now let us see some entertainment corporations or indie entertainers deliver that sort of community benefit ratio.

Good on him doing what he loves and it shows.

Heh, the response to that tweet at 3:47 was pretty good.
I thought it was hilarious and I genuinely lol'd when I heard it.

I disliked pewdie pie years ago when I first watched a few of his screaming videos for the first time, but for the most part I've always considered him to be a genuinely likeable guy

I'm not one to watch his videos.. maybe every once in a while if it interests me. But I'm not going to fault a guy for being a entertainer and people wanting to watch his video.

Let the man make his bank. I am jealous though

He is a video making entertainer. How does the fact he makes money surprising to anyone on earth smart enough to understand how to open a browser?

Excellent.

People who get mad at him, I just don't understand. When we were kids, our parents didn't understand some of the cartoons that we watched, or at least why we thought they were so entertaining. This guy is a "cartoon" that entertains kids. His videos have him playing a character for their entertainment, and he's doing it quite well. Kudos to him for making huge bank on something he loves doing.

Good on him :D

Still subbed to him, still watch him on occasion. Thinking about waiting till he finishes Catherine before I marathon it.

The video was pretty amazing, I like him just reading the salty comments and replying. He's likable, you can't really deny it.

I also looked at his channel and was very surprised to see how toned down he has become. The Catherine playthrough was actually pretty pleasant to watch. He doesn't talk over the game too too much, and it's just calm, stupid-funny comments, no major screaming or histsrionics.

He is playing Catherine rigth now so that´s good...

Yeah and all the videos have like 3 million + views. It's cool that he does slightly older games that aren't really in the limelight.

Do you realise how petty and childish you sound?

You seem to be thinking I wrote that angry. I was smiling when I wrote that post and the others. Even though I do find him obnoxious in the video, I just found it funny and amusing more than anything else. For example, his sarcastic quip when talking about making more money than soldiers. That just made me go "lol, what a character"

I thought he was going to pull out some cash and do a fake cry into it when he talked about the comments making him sad.

While his product isn't for me, he is a lot nicer than I would be if someone criticized how much I made. I wouldn't explain shit to anyone. His money, his business.

Some of the people he quoted have valid concerns, I suppose, but I don't see how "other, more deserving people get paid way less" is his fault in any way. It's not like he gets to decide how other YouTube personalities get paid, much less doctors or teachers or firefighters or what have you. Does he do less work for way more cash? Maybe. But has he harmed people? He's made a bunch of stupid rape jokes, apparently, which doesn't make me think kindly of him (and probably makes him a poor role model for the children who watch him, assuming anyone thinks of Pewdiepie as a role model). But as a single highly paid person with questionable, possibly insensitive humour, whatever transgressions he's made pale in comparison to, oh, I don't know, Wall Street executives or war-mongering presidents or a whole host of other very rich people that we just kind of ignore (or don't even know about) because they don't have YouTube channels where they yell at games.

Even typing this message out makes me feel like I've spent too much time thinking about this. Who cares? Dude makes money. If it really is that easy, haters, do it yourself. What's keeping you from the easy millions?

I like him. I had a grin the entire time watching this.

You know, in my time in business, I've always seen this trend where the guy making $20,000 looks at the guy making $60,000 and thinks "well, he did something wrong to get there" and the $60,000 is looking at the $180,000 and THAT guy is looking at the $500,000 dude and they're all thinking "well, he did somethijf wrong to get there". The response to pewdewpies success does not shock me in the very least. I like his attitude towards his work and success.

I think that he recognised what people found entertaining and managed to create a brand that was desirable to advertisers. There are elements of luck involved but certainly managing to grow to what he is today is more than just luck. I think people might dislike his success because they can see that he is no different to the average gamer in terms of ability or appearance, and they feel as a consequence that his success is not merited.

It's nice to see some positive responses about him even some do not like the videos. I find him funny. I'm glad he is making his money putting in the work he does. Hell here in the US we give delinquent rappers millions for singing about sex, money, death.. at least this kid is not one of those.

I've only seen him on South Park but it's pretty sad he has to make a response video to shut up a bunch of keyboard warriors.
