PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale |OT| Use Supers to Smash your Bros!

When the game you are complaining about has legitimate issues, it's understandable to be upset. I mean, the problems PSAS has will keep it from ever being a real competitive fighter, which was what Superbot was going for.

But with unbalanced characters, dumb playing styles, and constant glitching, there's way too much wrong with the game to not get some criticism.

I think there's still space for it to be a competitive fighter and the complaints might center around trying to achieve that. We care about that stuff as much as Superbot did.

I also think that every gaming community complains about things. I think it's just further exacerbated because this stuff does get in the way of the "consistent" enjoyment of the game and we know a little bit will go a long way of making it great.

Besides, in fighting games, people complain. It's par for the course.

I also know I have personal salt because I've been waiting for this game for a while and its success determines a second shot at this game, which we're all not sure we'll get so it's really about "fixing" the issues with this one.

I still love the crap out of this game and play it least 3 times a week for extended play periods. I definitely come back to it more than any game this generation.

If they ever make a sequel hopefully it'll more closely resemble Smash.
I think they should work in some balance between health bars & supers. I generally like the idea of getting a surprise KO with a super but I feel players needed another method of winning.

Hey. Huge lurker + junior here. Just wanted to point out this:

SOURCE: http://community.us.playstation.com...ible-PSASBR-Sequel-leaked-at-E3/td-p/40601167
(The first post has small images, you have to scroll down the page to see the huge ones that I've quoted) The guys over there seem to think it's a sequel though it could be anything. It seems legit purely because it has the old dumped renders from a while back on the old PSASBR cover.

And frankly speaking, nobody except Sony Santa Monica or Superbot would have full renders of those...

Also I was the one that compiled that Concept Art post one of you guys linked to a while back lol: http://www.playstationallstarsarena.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1043&p=27419

Double also (lol) the Community Board seems to have the characters there figured out:
-Cole MacGrath
-Sir Daniel Fortesque
-Big Daddy
-Sweet Tooth
-Nariko
-Sackboy
-Jak and Daxter
-Dante
-Kratos
-Fat Princess
-Heihachi Mishima

Sweet Tooth, Cole, and Kratos are renders from the old site leaks.

Only Santa Monica or Superbot would have those, I have a feeling this might be legit.

Wasn't their meant to be some sort of PSABR mobile game/thing or am I thinking of a different game?

Some "PlayStation All-Stars Island" thing that I posted a page or two back. Sounded a bit dodgy to start with and SSM's twitter basically debunked it, although maybe they were just covering it up? Either way we'll know soon enough.

I don't think it'll be DLC.

It's likely as you guys have mentioned All Stars going on PS+ or going F2P.

If it is F2P, I would hope its cross-gen. I was just thinking to myself the other the day that I would have to keep my PS3 hooked up for All-Stars. Cross-gen would fix that.

Here's to an updated UI!

Playstation Island doesn't look remotely convincing, to me at least.

Anyway, here's some dodgy (big emphasis on dodgy) work that shows the outlines. It's for the guys over at the Community Board that don't seem to be convinced (that it's supposed to be real/is very difficult to fake)

I don't have a clue who is on the top right of the old cover though. The rest of them are completely new/unseen before however.

. . .

Why would they use OLD renders? Must be fake. Atleast it cant be for sequel.

If it is legit, nostalgia characters/Uberhero Patapon or bust.

+ Big Daddy and New!Dante are still not good third characters, god dammit and stop making Fat P as important character >XU

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony's Worldwide Studios is on the latest Podcast Beyond. IGN's Playstation editor Colin Moriarty is a professed PlayStation All-Stars fan and asked him the question about the future of the franchise. Thought you guys might be interested in what Shu had to say:

I really hope there is a future for All-Stars, so to answer your question there are several different levels of if I was happy or unhappy.

I was pretty happy with the game itself, the collection of characters and how well it was implemented – the world, the character moves, the voice acting, developer involvement from the original teams and the authenticity of the things that went into the game.

Sales-wise it did quite well. It’s done more than a million units globally, but it was not enough to have the momentum in terms of the business standpoint to say let’s continue to add characters or do an immediate sequel. We do like the idea and what the team did.

Never say never. I would really like to see us come back to the idea – not the same exact mechanic, but having the collection of all the different Playstation characters is exciting.

It does bring up lots of interesting questions. Will we see the All-Stars characters in a different type of game? Would a sequel radically change the mechanics seen in this one? Is SSM still on board with the idea or has it been abandoned at this point?

What type of genre would ya'll like to see?

Also, let's continue on the train of identifying the things we like about the game, because I think that can inform future game creators on what works/doesn't work.

It sold more than million globally? YES! Suck it Bomba-ers! >:D

Whats interesting is mention of other genres. There was rumor of MMO PSAllStars right? Maybe it can happen now.

That sounded an awful lot like we are never getting any more DLC characters.

Didn't have high hopes at this point also I don't know why Seth keeps saying they are working on costumes because I swear that isn't happening either.

Really sad that they are most likely not going to give it another shot this is one of those things that really would have been better with a sequel.

Though I do wonder what they are going to do now that MS and Nintendo both have exclusive fighting franchises and they don't.

I still laugh every time I hear
"As a Nintendo fan, this literally makes me sick"

Good times

P.S. I am stoked for the new Smash Bros and any PSAS gaffers should add me to their 3DS friends list (shoot me a pm)

Here's to hoping this isn't the last of this kind of game for PlayStation.
To the PlayStation 4...
Greatness Awaits.

I knew it. If this thread gets bumbed, its just to say its dead.

Oh well. I had fun. Hopefully SSM bothers with this game and releases some patches/dem DLC that already exists...

The 1 Million sales figure sends a mixed signal, doesn't it?

Enough that it profited, but low enough to "damage" future investment in the idea?

Fuck the idustry where selling 1 million copies AND being profitable is still bad.

While ago I tried to use Toro's Torobi ninja form only. Its amazing troll form. Also its best form to destroy Isaac's mines. I actually got hate mail after using Toro's ninja form only. Lololol

Oh, and since WiiFitTrainer & Villager work so strangely in New Smash, in potential sequel we need sth as stupid. I nominate Locoroco ball.

Out of curiosity... if a F2P/PS+ version of this existed for PS4, which exclusive PS4 character from the PS4 launch window would you want and why?

Delsin Rowe (Infamous SS)
Knack (Knack)
Red (Transistor)
Edward Kenway (Assassin's Creed IV: BF)
Aiden Pearce (Watch Dogs)
King Leoric/Skeleton King (Diablo III)
Abe (Oddworld: New N' Tasty)
BJ (Wolfenstein: New Order)

Delsin because Troy Baker.

I also wouldn't mind Aiden since it would be cool if his entire moveset revolved around hacking things without once directly attacking the opponent, plus I love his cap 'n' coat combo.

Sora has a decent chance as well since Kingdom Hearts is finally back to being a PlayStation exclusive (and a dang good-looking one if I do say so myself).
