Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

Bought and played Flight Control HD and Tumble. Flight Control works flawlessly with the Move and is super addictive. Haven't had much time with Tumble but it seems really good and technically solid.

What exactly does having 2 Moves do in Tumble because I remember reading that it supports two.

Interesting comments. I agree with the above. this fuzzy and grainy video mixed with bright and sharp graphics used to annoy me but the more i've seen of it the less it bothers me. I can't imagine it ever being used in any hardcore games though

Just collected my Move x 2, Nav and Sports Champions. this workday cannot come to an end soon enough. I'm gonna be up all night :D

Two players, you can play co-op in singleplayer with two Moves if I'm not mistaken.

There are HD webcams out there or am I misunderstanding you?

I picked up my starter kit yesterday and gave it a spin. My first impression is that the accuracy is great. Especially The Shoot was great fun (I actually enjoyed that demo the most!) and very accurate. I also found out that lying on my couch is not a good way to play table tennis. I also nearly hit my wife with the controller while attempting to smash - I guess the bright-colored sphere is also there for safety reasons, so that people can take cover.

This is fucking ridiculous. Navcon shipped tuesday evening on nextday delivery, arrived wednesday morning. Wand shipped wednesday morning (9am!) on nextday delivery and it still isn't here. The royal mail are fucking useless cunts.

Or you can use two-controllers to go all double-fisted on those blocks. ;)

Though it will only recognize the primary one in the tutorial for completing goals.

Argh. Was expecting my Move to arrive today but I note Amazon.co.uk's still got it set to "Shipping Soon". Very disappointed, wait's already been hard enough. Guess I'll have to keep waiting though!

Does anyone know if the US East Coast stores are going to have Move and all Move games in stock this morning, or is today just the ship date?

When I put my pre-order down at a local Gamestop 2 days ago, the guy told me they already had all of their Move stuff in and was just waiting for today to sell it.

what are you going to get.....or should I say what would be the best way of going about these deals from Kmart? any particular order I should buy things?

I already have a PSEye.

I'm going to get the Starter Pack, if that's what it's called, which will get me a $25 coupon, and a second Move, which will get me a $10 coupon. On the 26th, I'll go back and use the $25 coupon towards a NavCon and, possibly use the $10 coupon towards another Move game, though there's nothing I'm really too excited about now, maybe the demos will change my mind.. I'm guessing it'll ultimately go towards NBA 2k11. I might also pick up a docking station, depending on how much they are, as they also come with a $10 coupon.

I already have a camera too, though I'm either going to trade it in at Gamestop or give it to my brother. I already purchased Tumble and Flight Control HD from the Playstation Stores and have plenty of games that are patched or will be patched for Move.

When the PS-Eye came out my buddy bought most of these cheap little PS-Eye PSN games (well, some are more interactive screensavers). I forgot about them when I got my PS-Eye with EyePet so while I'm waiting for my Move controller, I try them out.

Some of that stuff is actually kinda cool/impressive, tech-demo wise and looking at the old PS2 EyeToy.

For example one of the mesmerize effects is able to track both of your hands and lets you control two color/glow thingies. Of course you can trick it, but just moving your arms around works pretty well, it seems to know that it has to track the end of the "movement data" to know where your hands should be.
I have to restrain myself to not use the word "Kinect" here :lol

They've been sitting in back of most stores since the start of the week. Should be on shelves everywhere today.

Could you get some video of this stuff, I've never seen any of it.

Question:

My Living room is about 10 feet length-wise.

Once you factor in the couch, and that the camera might be half a foot from the back of the wall somewhere on my entertainment unit, is that enough range for the camera to properly pick up a full swing and capture the controller's movement? I'm estimating 6-7 feet between where I will stand and where the camera is.

1.5 feet is all you need for the camera to see you so don't worry.

Should be fine.

I think 8-9 feet is the limit though.

I called Gamestop yesterday to make sure they have my Move in and asked about buying another and she said they are all pre-sold out of the first batch of 40.

The Move comes with no demo disc, so should I start downloading everything?

RE5GOLD Move impressions. Note... seeing how I have this and I have maxxed weapons... :lol

controls. I didn't read the IGNAUmove review but I know it wasn't wholely positive.

CONTROL
Movement was naturalist (using the Left stick to move - tank controls = when shooting, chris stops moving, and then move kicks in). Running around pressing the X button was also easy. There is like literally 1 minute of getting used to the need to use the L stick to spin the camera when in tank mode (while move cursor aims where you shoot, and its very quick and good to use). X on movewand + left stick down = 180. All easy to pull off.

OPEN DOOR/ITEMS..etc. All using the big MOVE button and its easy. natural

KNIFE
you swing to use. THIS IS EXCELLENT. better than before. You actually feel like you can use this.

ODDITY.
as my characters have full arsenal. Here's the 1 thing I found odd.

SNIPER RIFLE and ROCKET LAUNCHER both used the Left stick to aim when I think it should be move controlled. Its odd but you can still fire with the move button.

That's it. Completed one chapter. It felt just like RE5, but with move. In short, it felt like RE4wii but of course this looks great. I recently bought GOLD (maybe 2-3 months ago and played a marathon of the game and I personally don't want to play this at all. LOL). Not the game, I literally played it for 100+ hours.

now to read the IGN review and read their niggles with it.

ign review said:
To move your character with the Move system, you use the left stick. To move the camera, well, you really don't. In order to look somewhere other than straight ahead, you'll have to hold down the T button (trigger) on the Move wand and then wave the wand around while standing still. But when your reticule reaches the edges of the screen, it stops, and you can't rotate your view any further. In order to do that, you need to move the left stick (the one you were just using to move your character around a second ago). It's an utterly strange and unintuitive setup.

What's more, when you actually decide to shoot something, you realize the fire button isn't on the trigger button, it's on the Move button.

Is he stupid? Took me like less than a minute to get used to it. When I returned to RE5gold after a long hiatus after launch, it took me longer to get used to R1+button knife/dual shock controller. The shooting trigger comment, I don't even get, its just easy to use. The reviewer's just dumb

Wasn't actually planning on buying this at this point, but I just upgraded my year-old 80gig PS3 with a slim 320gig one since I ran out of space.

Had 3 options: Uncharted 2 pack, Rachet & Clank whatever pack and the Move started pack, so I went with that one. Haven't unboxed the Move stuff yet, but I'll give it a go in a little bit.

here is a video of that specific effect in the Mesmerize game, showing the actual players:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1_N_g093C4

btw. @ all the new PS Move Bundle Owners:
Don't forget to download the free software "EyeCreate" from the PS Store. It allows you to use the PS Eye to record yourself on video, pictures and audio. Then you can put all the stuff together for a video and play around with filters like ghosting.
You can also create stop motion movies with it. Once saved&exported to the XMB, you can upload them to youtube via the XMB Video Uploader app if you want.

Still nothing for my Move Controller from Zavvi :(
With the slow shipping those days, won't be able to share some Move-goodness until 10 days at least :(

Those Mesmerize games never tracked me properly in my weirdly lit room. I should try them holding a Move to see if they work better. :p

Eurogamer say this about Resident Evil 5 on Move:

Resident Evil 5

With movement on the Navigation controller, shooting and stabbing on the Move, and fiddly stuff like inventory, map access and telling Shiva to please-stop-jogging-against-that-wall-people-are-starting-to-stare on the face buttons, Resident Evil 5 makes a lot of sense. On top of that, Capcom offers two different control configurations, which flip "locate partner" and "run/quick turn" between L1 and X depending on how your brain is wired up.

It's quirky, though. Rather than being used to, you know, fire the gun, the Move's trigger locks you in position and brings up the aiming reticule, and you then shoot with a stab of the Move button on top of the controller. It works better than it sounds, but with no second stick, you're still going to have to aim – and stop moving – if you want to look about very much. Some won't like the fact that you can't nudge the screen around at all by moving the targeting reticule to the edge (with gun drawn, the only way to move the screen is to use the left stick), but it does means you don't get that juddery feel a lot of motion-control shooters have whenever aiming and the camera are tied together. It's not as much of a problem as it sounds, really.

You can tweak sensitivities and enjoy some fairly pedestrian gestural stuff, mostly involving shaking (guess when) if you want to, but, while it all works well enough, you may still be left with a nagging feeling that shooters and motion controllers don't really fit together that naturally most of the time, no matter how well-intentioned everything is.

mostly my impressions but I sure hope they'd say that about REwii4. Because its the same.

Anyhow, The control system really isn't that different from RE5standard. This game is tank control. And with move its tank control. You get good at playing it when you play a lot of merceneries. :D

You can probably guess nobody else got far enough to play with a rocketlauncher/sniper as its the biggest niggle I think anyone would have. Its just a tad strange that you play this game and you aim to shoot with move but then with both weapons, you don't. But I got used to it in oh, 1 minute?

Infinite ammo FTW

They have to be missing something. I swear I saw somewhere that moving the analog stick while aiming moves your entire POV, and they make it sound like once aiming you can't move your POV at all.

yes, that's correct. once you hold down T, you enter gun mode. And you can shift the POV with the L analog stick and then aim with the move. Tank control. :P

I just realized that I have a Mirror on the wall opposite my wall mounted TV. Is this going to be a problem?

Edit: so basically I would be standing in between a mirror and my TV.

Loving Sports champions :)

Gladiator duel ftw. Ping pong is fun. Archery is a bit meh.

Love the "workout" these games give you/ :lol

yes, on the Euro PSN store at least (US store seemed to have fewer move demos, unless they're hiding somewhere)

has disc golf (one hole + tutorial) and Table Tennis (two matches)

I thought the gladiator one would be the worst but it seems everyone loves it, I guess the exercise makes them feel good :)

ok real talk:
Aren't the RE5 Move controls (at least one of the setups) exactly mapped like the RE4 Wii controls?
Why is it that reviewers seem to not be very positive about it while RE4 Wii is said to be THE shit.
