Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

I just want my Tiger Woods PGA Tour: Masters Edition. The wait is excruciating.

Hey guys (or TTP), got a question for you.

I just bought the bracket that allows me to put the PS Eye on top of my TV and was wondering, should I position the camera so that it faces down towards me?

Let's just put it this way, even if I'm standing with my arm out towards the Eye it is still slightly above me (and centered).

I was just wondering whether it is better to have it level or tilt it at a downward angle towards me because I was playing Dead Space Extraction last night and every time I calibrate while sitting down I find the "center" is far too low for my tastes and I have to recalibrate by literally reaching out with my Move towards the Eye.

Put the camera so it sees your entire body/arm. Move your hands up and down and see if it's in the camera's view. Best way to test it out is by going into video chat via XMB. Mine is slightly tilted down but it all depends on preference and height of TV, to be honest. Also, most calibrations tell you to point at the camera; usually that is not the case and pointing at the centre of the television does the trick (don't know how it is in Dead Space Extraction).

Thanks shagg! So when you say move my hands up and down to see if it's in the camera's view, do you mean standing up as well?

Right now I have the camera set up so it is pointing straight out (no tilt) at the top of my tv.

When I'm standing, it's just below shoulder level (slightly). When sitting, it's WAY above me.

While standing to play games like Sports Champions, even if I put both arms completely above me my Move controllers are still within view.

Sounds like my setup. The camera is on top of my TV and about shoulder level when standing.

Works great that way. Beter than below the TV. As long as the Move is visible to the camera it does not really matter where it is and how its tilted.

Sure? I guess how it's tilted could very well make a difference.

I mean as long as you don't have an extreme tilt or pan angle it should be OK. Mine is tilted down about 10 degrees I would say and it works perfectly fine. Before I had it under the TV and tilted up almost 30 degrees and it worked well when standing, but not when I was sitting as I was at the edge of the viewing field.

A lot of people will say either Killzone 3 or Tumble, but I'm going to say Planet Minigolf!

Or Sports Champions or Swords and Soldiers. I think its a personal preference thing really. I am happy that they have all sorts of games supporting it.

I would go with Tumble. Tumble on a 3D TV with Move was a gaming revolution moment for me. Makes me want a 3D TV.

Yeah, it sounds perfect.

As stated elsewhere, it doesn't matter how high or low it is as long as the move controller is in the view of the camera. The best way to test that out during gameplay is look at the camera and see where exactly it will blink red light. Red light means that the controller is out of view. Set the camera so that it's comfortable playing games like Sports Champion while standing; and play games like Killzone 3 while shooting without raising your hands. My couches were a bit too low for precise movement (no puns intended) so I had to get a bar stool since they are high and comfy and small to place anywhere (in this case, on the center).

For BEST result, a slight adjustment to the camera when playing games sitting vs playing games standing might be necessary depending on how much room you have between the camera and the play area. If the room is small, you might be required to tilt it lower when sitting and tilting it higher when standing.

Yeah I find when I'm calibrating that my *center* is below the screen.

Should I fix that by centering the Move at the center of my TV screen or by pointing directly at the camera? Cause I find myself constantly having to tilt at an upward angle a lot (which is uncomfortable.

Also I'm sure this has been covered a million times but is there honestly a way to fix or minimize cursor drifting? Because it drives me insane in KZ3 and Sports Champions.

Does anyone know how the new Tiger Woods is going to read the Move? Does it look at the ball location?

I don't have much space in front of my TV, and things like Bocce will sometimes lose tracking on the Move when my arm is below my waist. I have to adjust the camera down to compensate for this. If Tiger Woods uses the ball for tracking, there's no way I will be able to keep the ball visible through an entire up to down golf swing.

Ok I am sure it's been posted already but I am not going to browse hundred pages..also not sure if there's a thread on this, but I am in dire need of a "Gun" case for my Move.

I really enjoyed the Dead Space Extraction Demo, and I'm definitely buying Killzone 3, so I want to get both of these games but first I want to buy a "gun".

I hear a wicked (rifle/machine gun like) gun is coming out for Killzone 3 I think?? I live in Canada, what's the best thing out there right now, and I don't want to spend more than 30-40 bucks on something like this.

I also don't care for "Brand name". Shall I get something now? or should I wait for something else that's coming out soon?

And which is better? more practical? a handgun style? or two-handed, machine gun style?

I would appreciate if someone can help me with this. Thanks.

Personally I'd wait for the sharpshooter that's coming out at the same time as killzone. It's the only gun shell that uses the special connection at the bottom of move so it can map moves buttons to more convenient buttons on the gun.

Yep. Sharpshooter is the only accessory that takes full advantage of Move and it's proprietary USB inputs.

Ok wow! that actually sounds useful and it sounds like it can totally enhance the gaming experience, instead of ruining it by making the buttons inconvenient to reach while inside a gun shell.

Thanks,

so what's the damage? I couldn't find a price in that link, I heard it's around 40 US? Hope not much more in Canadian.

That is correct, it's supposed to sell for $40 in the US.

By the way, I've been playing the Killzone 3 beta using the Move (along with a Dual Shock 3), and the controls are extremely well done. They're very accurate and responsive.

After trying KZ3 with Move controls, I'm encouraged to invest in a Navigation controller for myself, as it would be easier to wield compared to the DS3. I don't think I'll be able to pony up the cash for a Sharp Shooter right away at release, but seems like it might be worth getting.

Picked up The Shoot today, relatively new to the Move itself, but when first booting the game and going through the calibration, is it supposed to be so sensitive?

I bought my move for KZ3. I also got RE5 gold, but I haven't opened it yet. Hope it controls as well as RE4 Wii. I might actually enjoy the game then.

yeah i really suggest the Nav Con if you can find it cheap

Yeah, the Nav is really great though a little disappointing that it doesn't have anything inside. Like no rumble, no gyros..at least it's wireless and auto-syncs to the Move.

Been playing Move mostly with Heavy Rain and it's really intense, well used. The use in LittleBigPlanet 2 (in Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves) was disappointing too, since it's a forced co-op mode.

By the way, the "Kmart SHC guy from Cheapass" mentioned something about Sony holding shipments of the sharp-shooter for later, so apparently won't be day one in stores; at least not in Kmart it seems.
Don't know if it applies to every store or just Kmart.

i had similar hopes but Capcom didn't do a good job with move implementation. It's marginally more fun playing with move but not enough to make the game actually good though :(

I thought they did a good job on the Move implementation. Movement is still a PITA but aiming feels really natural after a bit of practise. Much better than with a DS3 in my opinion.

Are there any indepth impressions of the sharpshooter besides those promotional sony videos? Does the press or anyone outside of Sony have access to this thing? I am definitely thinking about getting on the condition that it is somewhat comfortable for long play sessions and the button mapping on the gun itself actually make some things easier.

I managed to pick up The Fight at Target for $20 (they seem to be clearing most of their individual Move games). Haven't put it in yet due to Marvel and a few other things, but I couldn't pass it up for that cheap.

IGN sharpshooter review.
Maybe i'm reading it wrong but they seem to imply there is rumble built in to the sharpshooter itself. very nice addition if true.
Sounds nice indeed! Even if the gun doesn't have the rumble, the rumble from move itself to be enough to make it rattle.

One thing I wish that they covered is how much additional battery it sucks compared to using move and nav on it's own. TTP? ;)

Well, I guess I will answer Sharpshooter questions on my own!!

CANADA, FUCK YEAH!! :D

I posted it in the Move heroes thread but Gamestop's facebook page is giving away PS Move Heroes demo codes right now. I'm downloading it- fucking 1800 MB.

Thanks for the heads-up, snagged a code.

I saw The Fight (along with The Shoot and a random exercise title) in the clearance bin at Target yesterday as well. I didn't bother picking it up since it takes 4 motion controllers to play two players, though.

Thanks got one.

Anyone else have issues with the Move while playing Heavy Rain, The damn idle symbol is always on, and it seems to have issues thinking i'm doing something too fast, and i'm not even moving the damn thing, had to switch back to a controller.

The extendable stock was designed to alleviate fatigue.

Doesn't alleviate my fatigue for the stock is somewhat uncomfy. Needs some getting used to. Definitely not recommended playing standing.

I can confirm that this is not true. Move rumbles, and it's more than enough :)

I was having some crazy issues with LBP2 and Move Heroes demo, where I absolutely couldn't get the crosshair to lineup, I thought for sure something was broken. I had to quit to XMB and recalibrate and now the thing is smoother than ever! But the weird thing is Tumble, sports champions, and Modern Combat performed normally.

Honestly, I don't get the calibration process, I'm just doing random twirling with the wand. Also, I was standing up for that calibration where I usually sit, I guess its better that way even if you game while seated(?). So ya if you guys have problems, recalibrate from XMB.

I remember reading something about turning off the magnet in the wand or something, but I searched all the options and didn't see it, where is this option and what does it do exactly?

Can you use the regular PS3 controller+Move remote combo on Killzone 3? I thought you could, but I just tried out the demo and couldn't get the DualShock to work.

Yes, that does work. It's how I played it. I didn't do anything special, just turned on the move after starting the demo.

You can, just use the left side of the dual shock as the navigation controller... it even shows it when you put up the demo. I've never done it myself, but it should work and it's been stated on the playstation blog that it works.

I just ordered the Sharp Shooter. It looks good and after IGN's review it sealed the deal for me. Now if the Optoma 3D-XL would just be released I would be completely set for the ultimate Killzone 3 experience.

Maybe it didn't work because I turned on the dualshock after I booted into the actual game--I'll try it again tomorrow. From just messing around, aiming and shooting at stuff with only the remote, I could tell that it works really well.

I'm thinking about picking this up too. It's due for release in Europe next week as far as I can tell.
