Playstation Move Thread: It Only Does Everything

I'm more disappointed Until Dawn didn't show up since that probably means it's been cancelled.

Sony had a lot to show at E3 and it was only a 1½ hour conference if I remember correctly so they could've just prioritized demoing Zindagi's new game over it for one reason or another.

gamescom is in august and if that goes by and they don't show it in any shape then I'll agree that it's canned.

Going to be finally picking up a PS3 Move setup in the next few weeks. Going with the starter bundle and a Nav controller. There are enough games coming out that I think the purchase will be worth it now. Are there any current games that require two Move controllers though? Is that something that simply hasn't been embraced?

Is there one game one should get as their first PS3 Move game that works very well with the setup that isn't a FPS?

Thanks

I believe The Fight: Lights Out is the only one that "requires" two Move wands to play it properly, although it is possible to play with just one Move wand in one hand and a Sixaxis/Dual Shock 3 in the other hand.

Some other games such as Sports Champions can make use of two motion controllers, but don't actually require it.

I'd recommend Sports Champions as a great game to start with. If you're getting the starter bundle that includes Sports Champions, and you're looking for a second game, then try purchasing Tumble from the PlayStation Store.

Thanks.

Is a charging station worth picking up or will connecting the units to the PS3 to charge be enough? I tend to sometimes leave the system on from time to time for Foldering@Home. So I could charge them then. I assume I wouldn't be able to charge the Move units and the PS3 controller all at the same time? Could be wrong as I don't recall how my usb ports are on the PS3 Slim at the moment.

Was thinking of picking up Little Big Planet 2 at some point. I know Move works with that but how well? Better to keep using the regular controller?

Get sports champions! table tennis, soo good. Once you've experienced how accurate it is, you won't want to play anything else!

Well they are adding move to the whole campaign of LBP2 in a patch this fall. You will be able to play the whole game with move so that sounds fun. The move patch is coming this fall so no one knows how it will be yet but Prehistoric Moves worked well with Move.

Anyone have any tips on sitting comfortably with the Move on an FPS? I'm playing KZ3 at the moment and I'm finding myself fidgeting all over the place (which obviously doesn't help, I'm looking at the sky a lot. :p) trying to find a comfortable position.

If I lean forward on the settee (so that I can rest my forearms on my legs/knees) I find I have to angle my neck up, which is uncomfortable (both my settee and TV are low - the TV is mounted low so that I have the perfect viewing position when sitting back, fine for normal games). Sitting back and I don't really have a platform to rest my arms. :/

Any tips would be appreciated. The sharpshooter is out though, I don't play enough shooters to justify a £35 piece of plastic gathering dust in my living room somewhere.

I have a similar low setup and I sit back and rest the controllers on my upper thighs. As for the sharpshooter I can't recommend it. Turning is the main problem as you have to move your whole upper body and it feels clumsy. when you get the settings right on KZ3 it's probably the best use of move I've tried.

First get a comfortable position, THEN, calibrate the Move.

Cheers guys. Calibration itself isn't an issue, it's just finding a position I can sit in without moving around a lot - I've been sitting back with my legs crossed and that's been working for me.

As for the Move in general for an FPS, I'm still uncertain. It's clearly better for aiming, but at the moment I find turning with the same degree of accuracy that I can get from the DS a problem. There was a section in the game where you landed on a platform with your back to two enemies and it took me so many tries to do that part purely because I couldn't sight them both quickly enough (and there was no cover).

Litmus test will probably be checking out the online now! D:

Yesterday I played Medieval Moves at Gamelab, an Spanish gaming event.

It was way better than I expected. Pretty good usage of the Move, and the game looks fun (even it's so easy / casual / focused to all publics). Pretty cool the arrow and shurinkens gameplay, but the sword gameplay needs some tweaks to make it feel more powerful.

For KZ3 I find these settings very good. On the move settings screen choose 0%, 0%, 0%, 100% from the top down. Then for turning a quick flick in the direction should do the trick. I do a lot of damage online with these settings :)

Any videos from the event online?

BTW, I've just published my analysis of Air Conflicts Secret Wars, first Move compatible flight sim ever!

Enjoy!

Another awesome Move analysis video from TTP!

I wish some of the mainstream journalists would spend so much time and energy on stuff like this.

Too bad the game looks like an utterly generic and boring shovelware title. For a second there my mind wandered and I imagined what Ace Combat Assault Horizon would be like with a Müv implementation similar to that in the video. But that's just a wet dream...

Anyone have any idea why SEGA Rally Online Arcade has the tedious Move screens on start up?

I can't seem to see why it would have Move controls.

Thanks.

Holy crap! These controls are genius.

It's things like this that makes me feel like Move+Nav+HD/3D PSEye needs to be the defualt controls for the PS4. Move is so much more versatile then the dual shock.

Agreed 100% :)

We should make a petition to have Namco put this into Ace Combat btw :P
In the meantime I've sent the video to them.

It supports the Move but apparently not very well.
haven't checked myself, but here is Movemodo review:

http://www.movemodo.com/reviews/2011/06/sega_rally_online_arcade_psn

Move support is where the game hits the crash barrier. In order to steer the car, one must rotate the Move controller as if they were turning a door knob. This makes left turns fairly easy, but often turning right is difficult and uncomfortable. The precision that Move boasts felt neglected as it's often extremely difficult to get the cars to turn when needed. Using either the wheel or DS3, it's fairly easy to rank in first or second place, but even after hours of use, it can be a struggle to pull out a third place finish with Move. You'll also have the option to use a Navigation controller, but the only functionality that you'll gain is easier navigation through menus; during the race the Navigation controller only allows quicker camera changes.

By the way, you can fast forward the Move start up tapping X. 20 seconds wait become 7.

TTP, just watched your Top Spin vs Virtua Tennis video. Holy shit @ the footage of you spinning the move controller around with the strap XD XD XD Please tell me someone made a gif of that somewhere in this thread. Its just so GIF worthy, especially during the Virtua Tennis segment.

Finally picked up my set yesterday. Liking it so far. I can't say yet if it's better then the Wii motion/pointer controls yet. Need to play more and something else that isn't a shooter. I kinda expected it to be heavier though. Also I expected the ball on the top of the remote to be harder. Took a few tries to get it to calibrate the way I wanted it to with Killzone 3. Jumped right into it that with it. Figured that would be the best way to get a feel of things as I constantly tweaked the settings.

Though for a game designed with Move in mind there are no instructions on what button does what with the game. WTH!? Not even in-game settings showing what actions are mapped to what buttons. Just information on the dual shock controller. Spent an entire match figuring things out. Ugh.

Might check out the demo disc and Sports Champions tonight. Picked up a Nav controller with it. I looked at images of people using the dual shock with the main motion controller and it just looked so uncomfortable. Was trying to be cheap and wondering if I could get away with just using but decided against it in the end. Glad I did. Going have to pick up a charger though. To many USB cables to plug up. Thankfully my Wii can be used to charge the controls when it's in standby mode. :)

I almost didn't pick up the set. I kept going back and forth on it. I got Black Ops for the PS3 figuring I'd play the better version after having the Wii version all this time and get some practice in with the controls as I want to get BF3 and/or MW3. No. While I got better with the controls it just solidified for me that I can't play FPS (especially online) and get any significant enjoyment out of them unless I have a mouse/keyboard or a pointer controller (Wii and now Move). Not even going to be bother anymore with dual analog controllers when it comes to this genre. Goozexed BO. That was what firmly pushed me to picking up Move yesterday afternoon.

I just hope MW3 or BF3 have Move support. BF3 is more likely since the PS3 version is what we are seeing console footage from. With KZ3, Resistance 3, and MAG all having support I hope DICE adds it. Don't think my PC can handle a game as intense BF3 is doing to be. Don't have the money to upgrade it again anytime soon.

Very nice. The last flight/fight game I bought and loved was FireStorm Thunderhawk 2 on PS1 (had the flightstick controller too!). This has brought those memories flowing back.

(That was 16 years ago! Wow).

I think I'll bite.

Keep in mind production values are on the low side and if you hate tearing and long loading times you'll scream. Still, I had fun playing through it with the Move. :)

I'm excited for Resistance 3 and need a little feedback to help me determine if I should pick up a Navigation controller (I already have a Move).

Has anyone used the DualShock/Move combo for extended periods of time? Does it remain comfortable?

BONUS: Will Child of Eden require anything other than a single move controller?

So not sure about the navigation controller...any feedback is appreciated!

You can download the Killzone 3 demo from the Playstation Store and play it over and over again. :)

I've used the dualshock with the move wand but when I got the nav controller it felt far better and more comfortable. It's not completely unusable with the ds3, but I would still highly recommend the nav.

Jumped aboard the Move train yesterday.
Picked up the Move bundle, and the UFC Trainer workout (GF wanted a workout game and I figure I will see how it is).
(I already have RE5 Gold)
Have not had time to try anything other than the Move sports (which was fun)
I think I really want to get the non(heh)-chuck though to make it more fun, and will want a gun attachment too.

This. Besides being easier to hold, the stick on the Navigation controller is located in a much more comfortable position and the L2 trigger is concave rather than convex so that's another plus compared to the half-DS3 alternative.

Ok, what is generally considered the best gun accessory?

the Sharp Shooter from Sony seems to get the best reviews, as is usually the case with their first party peripherals.

Of course, you can also pick from one of the alternatives:

FWIW I use the pistola in the lower left. I had the Sharp Shooter but it was too big for me, just didn't feel comfortable. I used it on the KZ3 demo and Dead Space and after a couple of hours went back to the pistol.

I have the sharpshooter - Love it.

And the Pistol on the lower left as well - haven't really used it much though, it works, its basic.

Someone made a great suggestion to me about House of the Dead Overkill, he plays it on the wii solo with two pistols so i'm going to pick up a second pistol as well. F'n Brilliant.

Question though, has anyone picked a different rifle other than the sharpshooter that can break down into a pistol as well? Was hoping to kill two birds with one stone by getting a combo type attachment that does both.

If not I might pick up that revolver looking one.. sexy

Could somebody please recommend a gaming / move site that has all the upcoming move supported / required titles listed? What's the best internet place for move related gaming info? Besides this thread, I mean. :)

God damn Gameflyed Time Crisis 4 because of the complete lack of software last week. Shit is terrible. Weird separate install for the dumb pirates game, incredible lack of production value, and really dated gameplay. If you buy one lightgun game for move, it should probably be Dead Space Extraction.

Still wondering why Deadstorm Pirates isn't available from US PSN. It's the only thing I want from that disc.
