It would've been nice to see the rest of the darkrai trainers pokemon. Too bad ash could only take out 2 of the 6.
He was the only trainer in all of Sinnoh to have even taken out one, and he took out two. People still say Ash is a failure.
Did Misty ever come back? , what about Brock? Wasn't there a reference to a possible romance between Ash and Misty, did anything ever come of that?
The show never seem to go anywhere, a large part of the show seem to be filler, from what i hear it hasn't changed much over the years.
Misty and Brock are now recurring characters. They will never be back as full cast members.
As for the romance, while there were a couple of very very small hints in the Japanese version, the rest of it is largely dub created
so what you're telling me is that this kid has made essentially no progress since i stopped watching the show years and years ago.
Progress is not determined by winning a league, and he has actually shown progress.
Since Kanto, Ash hasn't received badges out of generosity from the Gym Leaders as per Pewter Gym, Celadon Gym, Saffron Gym. Heck, Clay wanted to throw in the towel and Ash wouldn't let him. Yes, there have been some stupid moments like where Ash was convinced he'd have swept Elesa's Gym with Palpitoad, only to have to change his team half way through, but there is definite progression
I would still watch the series if it had actual progression.
I recall Ash beating some tough ass people, and his pikachu being so "leveled up" and near the start of the "next chapter" of his journey his pikachu ends up losing to a kid's starter pokemon who the kid has only been with for less than a month. I was like "okay, screw it, this is too much of a reset."
Just plain lazy writing. They could easily get around it by giving ash a new starter pokemon of that region and have ash try to fight with that (and will only use pikachu at higher level fights/and in team rocket/magma etc situations). Losing then wouldn't seem as stupid.
Levels don't really exist in the anime so it's not that "lazy writing". Plus his loss against Trip's Snivy is fully explainable.
Pikachu had recently been hit by Zekrom's attack. This had severely weakened it and prevented it from being able to use its attacks.
To put it in game terms. Level 100 Pikachu VS Level 5 Snivy. Pikachu has 1 HP left. It uses a move, the move misses. Snivy then uses its move, it hits, Pikachu is knocked out.
It's not that farfetched. They explain it.
Besides, the show would suck if Ash was constantly winning everything
Another complaint I often see is that Ash never evolves his Pokémon, and he always releases them. He hasn't released a Pokémon since 1999 and some of the ones he "has" (Primepae, Squirtle, Charizard, Gliscor) are just in training and can come back.
