But you know what this is, right? This is good stuff :D

damn I miss football-age :(
Oh, like anyone gave a shit about what you had to say about Porto. :lol

Spent about 2 hours with the game since getting it earlier and it's much better thaneither the PES or WE demo. Very responsive, the 360 dribbling makes the game flow a lot better and feels more 'lifelike', player animations are greatly improved and they shape up for shots/passes etc a lot more realistically.
I came in to say this... just got the game and I am floored.. the demo made me worry but I was always going to get the game and I am just shocked at how much better than the demo it is.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but seriously this game is amazing. I don't even have that initial adjustment period sense of hatred I have had with the last few versions ( everything since Pes 5).

I'm serious. I'm fed up with FIFA and the shitty animation system.

All 2 or 3 of us!

Eh, and I kinda owe you an apology, I think I posted somewhere about you being crazy for thinking pes was gonna be better than fifa this year. Crow eaten.

Oh btw, if people wonder why no reviews have focused on the online part yet, then it's not because the servers aren't up. The review copies just can't be played online. It says "this version is incompatible".

Btw, I'm positive on PES 2010, having played even more games. I shot a cracker with Kaká from long distance, it hit the bar, went down just outside the goal line and Benzema poached it in. And the net is beautiful, simply stunning when the ball rolls up on it, much better than in 2009.

Did I ever say that? I don't remember, honestly. I was mostly banging on the game before I tried the demo.
They're both great games anyway. I'm only going back to PES because they finally re-did the animations (and I greatly dispise EA's efforts since they can have 10 different animations for the same thing, but then 8 of those suck and look unrealistic. FIFA 08 still looks better in motion.) and FIFA is crap as far as Portuguese teams go, you can't even recognize any of the players. Just a bunch of random models slapped together.

I really wanted to like this one (couldn't really get into Fifa 10) but there is still so much wrong with it. I quick rundown after two days with the PC version:

+ the graphics. They really nailed them this time. The player models, the pitch textures, the lightning - everything looks just right and hugely superior to Fifa 10
+ the presentation is great too (another point where Fifa utterly fails)
+ player individuality - still the most important advantage over Fifa
+ ML looks kick ass
+ shooting feels good

- the animations. OMG, they are so, so bad. Even PES6 still looks more natural and organic than this crap. Where is the mo-cap? I can't see it.
- the game is still way too fast.
- passing is completely scripted and just doesn't feel right. The ball moves too fast and feels too light. The pinball feeling is still there and it really hurts the game.
- Playing on top level, every AI opponent plays highspeed one-touch football a la Arsenal, even if you're playing against Heart of Midlothian. So bad. This completely destroys the singleplayer experience.

Seriously this game is pretty good when you get used to how it plays. Having an anchor man picking up the ball from the defense, hold up the ball so the rest of the team can run up the field and have a defender build up play by running up the middle. It can be seen on the pitch when you change your tactics and cards.

I havent gotten my retail copy yet, but that was exactly what I was impressed by from the demo.

While the older PES had the arrow system, there was really no way you can have complete control over how the team as a whole coordinate with one another. Having both card system and the sliders give you so many way to fully control and combine different tactics down to each player. It is exactly because of this new system that plays such as holding the ball and using defenders to build up the play is now actually something that can be precisely implemented on the fly during the match.

International shipping ftl, I wish I can play it tonight.

Got it like 6:30 hours ago, midnight launch :D

It's pretty awesome, I mean, it's really not that different from the demo, not on my eyes. But maybe a bit more responsive, yeah.

Just won an EPIC Champions League with FC Porto on hardest difficulty with injuries and accumulated fatigue on. Shit, how epic it was. After being beaten twice by Barcelona on the group stage (2-4; 1-0) and even struggling to defeat Uneria or whatever it's called, I got Barcelona on the first knock-out stage (STUPID, I know, Konami should get its shit straight if they wanna wave the Champions League flag) and totally kicked their asses! Twice! 3-0 at home an 1-0 at Camp Nou. Then I beat Inter, Milan and finally Real Madrid on their own home, the final was very cool because it had that whole Madrid 2010... thing, marketing stuff, logos and shit (I really don't know how to call that in english). 2-1 :D

Other than that, I don't know man. Soundtrack is awesome but it has custom soundtrack again :D

I miss stuff from older Pro Evos like training challenges and stuff, but yeah no point beating that dead horse.

Custom tournament/league seems to be missing though! Fuck. It's the first time, isn't it? I can almost swear 2009 has it, even if less customizable than it was in the older days, and again I don't see the point of dropping features but hey it's their game.

I didn't touch Become a Legend or Master League (and won't so soon) but can't wait.

Online isn't working at the moment, at least for me.

All in all, seems to be a great PES with a pacing that we hadn't seen since PES 5. It can be a bit frustrating. You must think fast and can't expect running in circles with the ball without losing it. The midfield is tougher to play on. Currently I'm exploiting the wings as my main source for goals.
I'm a bit pissed that you can't manual pass on long free kicks. What's up with that?

The AI sometimes is stupid. It is. Sometimes you'll see 2 players on the CPU team not being aware of each other and shooting the ball against each other. The goalkeepers seem to be a bit better than in the demo, but in 15 matches I've played I've seen a couple of really stupid mistakes. I suffered a goal against Barcelona in which Ibra was one on one with the keeper and the stupid little fellow went to the side he was coming from, completely uncovering the goal.

Presentation. Can't say I'm a fan of this new method of going into a match in which visiting team formations, picking kits, stadiums and stuff is completely optional. I'm sure there will be plenty of moments between friends that will go like "shit, I wanted to take Ronaldo out" or some shit like that and you'll have to go all the way back to the main menu.

Anyway, great game, return to the roots and all that, gotta love getting trophies on PES, etc. Recommended :D

Cheers!

For those with the full game, what difficulty are you playing on? I always initially start a new Pro Evo on regular, so that I can get used to the changes etc. Played a couple on professional level and found it better but wanted to stick to regular while playing my first Champions League.

Anyway, I'm being Man United. Drew 0-0 with Fiorentina in the first match which was fair, then beat Celtic 3-0, Sparta Prague 6-1 and then again 4-0. Even with accumulated fatigue it seems a little easy, moreso than my early previous Pro Evo experiences anyway.

Not sure now whether to start my ML on regular or professional. Pretty sure I'll stick to regular since the original ML team is always shit (even if it is all the old favourites like Castollo, Minanda etc :D ) but would like to hear what others did.

Heh agreed! I enjoy getting trophies in games but am never too obsessive over getting 100% of them. However, with the amount of hours me and my bro put into Pro Evo games, (close to 300 hours in Pro Evo 09) I'm pretty sure I can platinum this :)

Unless they make people play through all the cup modes. What a hassle, even to unclock the classic teams/players....

I have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer for more than a decade, every year now. And in all games I have started on the hardest difficulty but then came PES 2010 and for the first time I witnessed it was hard playing against the CPU, so I changed it to **** star difficulty, now I can play on the hardest again.

Gonna play the Champions League mode again to see what all the Madrid logo/marketing stuff in the final is about. =)

Oh, I just reviewed the game today as well, giving it an 8/10.

Yeah same with me. Started with ISS Pro on the Playstation and have been hooked ever since :)

Played a European Cup and now a Champions League on Professional (**** star) and it's much better. Not to sure about the changes to the penalties just yet though.

Another week for me :).

But in the mean time I'm gonna get a memory card off Ebay so I can transfer the kits to PES. (Hopefully the user kits are out by next week)

Also, here is a post of mine on another forum, regarding FIFA 10. People say its time to leave PES behind and go to FIFA. For me, since FIFA 08, it was about leaving FIFA behind and coming back to PES.

Moe Joe said:
I just want something which I will enjoy. I have played 100 ranked matches of FIFA and when you play that much, you realize how repetitive and how samey the game is. Every game I play is the same. When I win, I have a load of momentum and a 'push' on my side. When I lose, my defenders act retarded and open up for a cheap goal.

And when I concede a cheap goal, and when my opponent continues the rugby and ping pong shit, I get even more bored and just feel like a stunned mullet playing the game, counting down the minutes and questioning why I am even playing it in the first place.

I myself am a manual player and can score from 70% of my shots. But the problem EA realize is, its ok having manual shots and passes, but what about taking off the A.I assists? What about turning off the cheesy momentum and riggery? Some games of FIFA I have played went 4-4. Basically whoever had the ball scored. Riggery. No amount of defending or tactics can save you and all you can do, like all the other chumps out there, mash the pressure buttons and while attacking, do the whole a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a, ................ B! GOAL! And yes, defending comes down to this, but its a proven fact that when your opponent ping pongs the A button, your defenders will automatically come out of position. What else can you do? Oh, yeah, hold the two man pressure like a lunatic and charge people down without losing any stamina for 90 minutes. What a boring and horrendous mess.

I'm over it and gotten all my money back from the store today for it.

I really wanted to like FIFA. I kept telling myself I'd like it. But 3 weeks on I just can't. Hopefully the WC version will fix a lot of my gripes. I could surely play the "horrible arcadey PES" until then. (sarcasm)

Pretty much in the same boat with Moe Joe in terms of what FIFA 10 is. By the end of my maiden season in Manager Mode I was kinda sick of letting in stupid goals because my goalkeeper and defenders were retarded, and I was tired of trying the same formulas to score goals.

At least with my several years of experience in PES, I never had to really use the same method over and over. There were times when my greatest goals were scored from an in-field cross, or from a corner, or from a howling kick from outside the box, or through a skillful through-pass that started from my defenders. There were flashes of that in FIFA 10 but most often than not I was scoring goals through a ping-pong style of gameplay where passing the ball around as quickly as possible was the key to opening up holes.

True fact : Messi loves Pro Evolution, crazy thing is that he play with Barcelona... yeah he play as himself @___@

Just got the game, did 1 friendly match and got 3 trophies :D

theres a lot of out of date transfers and so many underrated players on the middle/lower teams sigh Konami needs better info ffs i remember for example Deco and R. Carvalho being absolute crap but as soon they moved to chelsea and barça their stats went up like 500% -.-

Loving this game to bits :D

Just played 3 games online.....

Game 1 = 3v1, ran pretty much perfect. It was 2 on one Xbox plus another guy verses me so technically 3 Xbox's were connected to this game.

Game 2 = 2v2, a bit jerky at times but no worse than FIFA can get.

Game 3 = 1v1, the least smooth of the three games but still very much playable. It's worth nothing the opponent had a red connection (which I intentially wanted to play to experiment) so if this is as bad as it gets I can't complain.

On a related note, I've finished my Spurs and Arsenal kits. 360 editing takes forever but I think the results were well worth it -

Nice, this game looks graphically better than I imagined.

Got my game! Happy days. Played the demo loads so just starting off on top player. I got really into the demo on top player, some great matches. I've been buying PES on the 360 but this is the PS3 version, so the controller is taking a little time to get used to (does anyone use those trigger things for the L2/R2 buttons - do they help?). It's playing really well so far, loving it.

Playing more of my Milan Champions League on Professional and this is definitely the way to go for me. Won 3 of my group games, drew one and lost two when I played an understrength team. Wisla Krakow came back to draw 2-2 at the San Siro and 0-0 away so through on away goals :D

Also played my first online match. I'm in the UK and it was against a guy from Italy. Was a little laggy, but playable nonetheless. Drew 1-1 :p

Can the kits and updated rosters (stats?) be downloaded from fan sites or will I have to do it manually?

If you have the PS3 version, yes.

Not sure about 360 version, but historically it has not been possible as far as I know.

Initial verdict: Best PES in years. Certainly out of the HD versions. Playing top player is resulting in some amazing, classic matches for me without any of the frustration that I've felt at that level in recent editions. Shooting is miles and miles better. Leaps and bounds on from the demo as well (cards on table: I really enjoyed the demo, though it took me a while to do so. I think it seems to click once you can compete at top player for me).

Francesco Totti used to wait to get Winning Eleven JLeague and then Final, patched in with translation and the irght kits and chants and play it religiously and was even "caught" playing WE at home when some talk show cameras visited him few years ago... problem is that at the time he was a FIFA cover player :lol
He also stated to have played the game every fucking night during Germany 2006.

I want to play NAO, run postman run!

Got it yesterday and played alot against the cpu and was glad I bought it, but spent this night playing with friends using the community mode collecting stats against each player and now love it

The online multiplayer mode is much better than last year and works great. Played a couple online matches yesterday: first match went smooth as silk and had no lag. Second match had a little lag, but it wasn't a big problem and the game still played fine. All in all a big improvement over last year's edition. I played the Xbox 360 version on Xbox Live by the way.

Playing a bit at work right now and I'm probably picking this up and selling FIFA 10.

FIFA 10 makes a great first impression, but after playing for a few weeks I've grown sick of it. It has the same problem a lot of FIFA's had in the past, you're scoring the same types of goals over and over again. It gets boring. PES may be not as good on a technical level, but I find I'm enjoying it a lot more.

Got it from a shop just now. Already downloading a patch but its going quick, from 0 to twenty percent in writing these two sentences I think.
I haven't bought a game from a shop in a long time, and since I haven't played the game, I think I might as well talk about what I saw in the shop. For those of you that care, take it with a pinch of salt I guess...
I know it doesn't mean much, play it on whatever platform you like but the game store had all their copies out front and it seemed like the ps3 pile was smaller then the x360 pile.. wwe smackdown was there as well and that story was similiar. On their charts their had uc2 at no.1, pes no.2 and smackdown no.3 on the ps3 charts.
...
playing champions league, not all teams are featured... :( but that was to be expected...

one of the problems in the demo was that the a.i. full backs would leave the wings completely unmarked, because they'd mostly look at the ball instead of their direct opponent. so if you were playing 4-3-3, you could pass around the ball a bit in the centre of the field and then eventually pass it to one of your wingers, who'd be able to easily dribble towards the goal.

did they fix that?

this was on the hardest difficulty level, btw.

Regarding 360 kit transfers,

Can anyone recommend a cheap 360 third party memory card which isn't locked out? No way in hell am I paying $60AUD for a 512mb card.

(Are third party cards illegal by the way? I mean they are locked out. :lol If so I'll edit this)

Finished my Champions League with Milan and beat Inter in the final :D Professional/4 star difficulty seems to be the way to play this version. Not easy but not too hard.

Also started my Master League and wow, it really has been improved a lot. First off, Division 2 now has 18 teams. You pick 3 leagues where you can swap teams about and then have 2 leagues with the normal teams which runs alongside your ML. So, for example, I'm in Division 2 of the English league. I always change the teams about in each league so there's the Premiership, La Liga and Serie A and then Eredivisie and the French League too.

The cup is now between the teams in Division 2 and the league that you choose to advance into. So a lot harder to win as last year it was just the Div. 2 teams.

A lot more emphasis on the behind the scenes, day to day running of the team now. Scouts etc can be levelled up, you choose sponsors who provide bonuses for home wins and so on. Youth team inclusion is great! You can choose to advance promising players to your first team.

All in all, the ML is always the biggest draw for me with Pro Evo and I'm gonna be spending hundereds of hours in it this year again :D

PES 2010 is finally out all over Europe, and after speaking to many retailers it seems most of you have the game in your hands. All you need now is an option file. Correct?

I’m happy to say we’ve been busy working away at the PS3-only OF after the no show of the much wanted Konami transfer update. We were banking on it being released for launch, anything else IMO is a step backwards. But instead of crying about it, our OF creator Sean (01srainey) has been working around the clock to correct things we were going to ignore.

Thats the main reason the OF missed todays expected launch, but you’ll be pleased to know Sean has got LOADS done for launch tomorrow.

* All club teams with correct emblems
* All teams (International and Club) with licensed kits
* All club teams with correct team names
* All fake players in the game with real names (excludes unlockable players)
* Most transfers up-to-date, might be some minor ones missing
* Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart created
* Bundesliga base created (team names/kits) – To give editors a head start once unlockable players are unlocked

All of the above will be included in the option file, released tomorrow at 5pm UK time. Sean will update you throughout the day to let you know how things are going. We’ll release on a variety of download sites, complete with an easy-to-use guide for all beginners.

Thanks to Sean again for his fantastic work!

!

Can't wait for my copy to arrive!

So Bundesliga and its clubs are still left out? May skip the Wii PES 2010 then if they don't improve players reaction to the ball or fix online either...
