I'd rather play it for myself than read what other people think.Xater said:We should see the first reviews tomorrow anyway right?

SecretBonusPoint said:Game has a direct competitor out on the market with a great and fairly sizeable demo and pretty damn good review scores. Sure most games don't have demos, but then this one is in the exact same 'box' as inFamous. People can try that out right now and get hooked and then go and buy. Prototype? Not so lucky. Some pretty rubbish looking screenshots and little hands on play footage isn't doing it any favours either. This really is the kinda game you have to try before you buy.

I would've liked a demo as well. But that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't mean anything that there's no demo.dragonflys545 said:If inFamous had a demo, then so should prototype.

How about a killer, a monster, a terrorist? He's all of those things.AltogetherAndrews said:This whole "I will take revenge on those who did this to me!" deal that they are pushing feels a bit hollow given that a good chunk of the footage released shows him tearing into civilians just as happily (and without consequence). I really don't think "anti-hero" is even the correct term here.
Isn't that most games? They all have a story but if you choose not to pay attention then it's mostly all mindless killing.panda21 said:i dont understand what the point of this is?
you just go around killing people for no reason?
comrade said:Isn't that most games? They all have a story but if you choose not to pay attention then it's mostly all mindless killing.
panda21 said:no but what are you meant to be doing? isnt it open world? all the trailers just show you smashing shit up, if you're a bad guy is there any point to it other than just trashing everything?
From the trailers I've seen you've lost your memory and awoke with powers. You've got other mutants trying to kill you and the military trying to kill you. Killing high ranking military officers and absorbing them gives you fragments of your memory back. You're just trying to find out what happened to you.panda21 said:no but what are you meant to be doing? isnt it open world? all the trailers just show you smashing shit up, if you're a bad guy is there any point to it other than just trashing everything?

attention, spoiler:it's great at the beginning when it seems that you have every power possible. the carnage alex does, unbelievably nice

Not to mention Sony and Microsoft certification before they'll even put it on their networks.HeartAttackJones said:.
Demos can be a big resource drag. Design, engineering, art, and testing. Plus we're talking about a multi-platform game.
I see, thanks. I hope this game has a New Game+. That bugged me about InFamous. It's not that fun to run around a huge city if there aren't any missions to do anymore.SpeedySwaf said:Judging by the videos I've watched, the first "level" is a future part where you can test your powers and mess shit up. Then after killing a general, the game goes back 18 days, where Alex is just waking up. You spend the rest of the game working up from there.

omfg. I was just going to GameFly it but I'll buy this just for that fact alone. Thank you for that info.Klyka said:New game + has been confirmed by the devs. You keep all your upgrades and start in a fresh city.
It's more than that. A cut and paste of the intro level would hardly take any extra resources at all. A demo doesn't necessarily make more people want to buy the game. It just makes the purchasing decision easier. In fact, a poorly done demo can negatively affect sales, and it may not even be representative of the experience a person will have with the full game.Infinitemadness said:A lot of dev teams dont have the resources to put towards a demo. Lets wait for reviews and stop trusting people who heard this and that from someone on XBLA or watched a video for 2hrs.
HANDS ON IMPRESSIONS, People!
SecretBonusPoint said:A lot of dev teams shouldnt be surprised when their game sells hardly at all then. I don't think its much of a surprise that Bionic Commando didn't sell too well (especially on PS3 that didnt even get the MP demo) because it lacked a great demo to pull people in, as has been the Capcom mode of operation this gen.
I'm personally surprised at the amount of people on my friendslist playing inFamous. I didn't think it'd be a game to pull in the masses, but it has. And I can only assume thats due to the advertising and a great demo.

That's fine. I play for enjoyment not trophies or frustration.Broadbandito said:but same difficulty
True. For example the Dead Space demo completely turned me off to the game. I've read posts here that the game is better than the demo, but I did not want to get burned. Many times you can't tell if you will like a game without playing it so I always try out demos. Sometimes there are hyped games with no demo that I end up not liking like Fallout 3.

12. How many missions (count all chase, stealth, protect, disable and infiltrate missions plus tutorial and boss fights) are there in PROTOTYPE? (Le_protoype)
Answer: The mission types listed in the question above are actually just some of the missions available in PROTOTYPE, so just to set people straight we have really tried hard to make each mission have its own unique flavor and set of challenges. The number of Events in the game right now is close to 90. We think open-world gamers will have their hands full with PROTOTYPE.
8. Is there gonna be a demo?
Answer: Were very close to launching the game worldwide, though we can confirm at this time we have no plans to release a demo.
16. Are the only Veichles you can Hi-Jack a Tank and Chopper? (ScoobySnax)
Answer: You can jack all of the military vehicles in the game, including combat Tanks, APCs, Transport Choppers and Attack Choppers. Then there are some higher level vehicles like the Thermobaric tank, which makes some serious noise and damage when its shells explode.
19. What personal event has occurred while you or a coworker has been playing that made your inner gamer squeal with glee? (Creten)
Answer: This is a tough question because from play-testing the game over many months our QA team has witnessed some pretty crazy things. One of the best things was when Alex had whipfist-jacked onto a chopper, and before he could jack it, another chopper had sent a missile careening into Alex. The explosion took out the chopper Alex was about to jack and as it was hurtling towards the earth, Alex actually began parkouring UP the flaming carcass of the chopper, since parkour can interact with any object. That was one of those whoa!! moments, for sure.
20. What happens when Alex's health reaches zero? (Jared)
Answer: He dies.

Kittonwy said:Maybe they just want to be done with the game and not release a demo for three different platforms, it's somewhat understandable if they're simply planning to move onto their next project.
What I find strange though is the lack of reviews other than that one PSW review.
Trade show demos don't have to go through any sort of certification process.AltogetherAndrews said:Be done with the game, and of course host press demos, and supply a trade show demo. Seems like fucked up priorities, but hey. Rental it is, then.
