PS3 3.30 System Software Update (3D, trophy sorting, taunting Dragona)

I hope one of the options for sorting trophies is ALL trophies by date, to give a kind of timeline of your achievements, like the last 8 on your PSN profile.

Feels more like you're collecting the challenges that way, rather than just pushing an obscure percentage up a little.
 
Really don't care about Trophy sorting. Who the hell needs to sort trophies?

Hate 3D. Hate even more that it's being forced the way it is.

Fixed that for ya. An eye for an eye really ain't that great. I really used to love PS3 updates so I don't complain that much unless they make the XMB worse. Spending 20-30 minutes updating my PS3 every now and then isn't that bad. Its just the forced PR hype over such features thats kinda dumb is all!

How about the "I'm entitled to use what I fucking paid for" mentality?

I will continue to let my non-updated PS3 collect dust.
 
This is what irks me a little: they make the update available through the PS3, but they don't upload the file on PS.com until hours later.

It takes fucking ages for the PS3 to download updates, as opposed to when I download it on the PC and copy it across using my external drive. Why can't they make it available on PS.com at the same time as they make it available through the PS3.
 
I'm surprised at the number of complaints about trophy sorting. From what they described, it sounds like they're great additions for people who like to track their own trophies and compare with their friends.

What the heck are you on dial up? I just literally booted up my PS3 and now I'm installing. Check the time on my last post that's actually when I turned it on. I have a 30mb connection over wireless. Could be your region buddy.
 
Also these firmware updates are nice in that each time ya boot up from a fresh update install everything on the xmb loads up really quickly showing ya the true power of the PS3! Then awhile after stuff loads up more slowly but no worry another firmwares around the corner ta pick ya right back up!

Firmware is universal, so just use the server giving you the best speed.

PS3 seems to be incredibly disagreeable with the internet for a lot of people, myself included. Then again I have a wonky router but changing to Open DNS helped a bunch. I had to leave my PS3 on over night just to download the old MAG beta :lol

That was a legitimate server issue. The MAG beta process of updates was horrendous. It downloaded a stub from the PSN server, which was fast. Then booted in to download the actual patches/updates from the MAG server which was crawling.

The new FW is already downloaded and installed. It was faster than usual tonight.

??? Whats so funny?? Its the truth from my own experience anyway! Plus everyone in these firmware threads after updating is all like "hey shit seems faster now good update"! What they never say weeks, months later is that the quickness has slipped away. Or maybe my systems just weird.
 
I just finished Updating. The whole process took 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

so....why the fuck to people complain about fimeware updates again?

Well I've noticed the XMB loading smoother ingame for a couple of titles after an update so I can see where your coming from.
 
You know one thing I've noticed about firmware downloading off the PS3. At some point it just becomes 100% from something like 50-60% complete. :lol

They should start reading their feature request blog sometime and start working on some of the requests instead of continually serving up 160 MB updates contaminated with peace meal updates that no one cares about.

LOL yeah, it happened to me tonight. It crawled it's way to 60% for 4 minutes during the insalation process then jumped to 100% :lol
 
After the whole linux debacle, they have a lot of guts forcing another update so soon without adding anything substantial. All this stuff could have waited until the next real update or have been included in the linux destroying one.

conspiracy hat on says after they took out linux, the hackers got pissed and started really working on the ps3 and have made slight progress already and sony is scared and patching holes.

And that's when I start worrying that the update didn't download properly.

Because of late they seem to be monthly and its not always as quick as it should be. Usually takes me half an hour and no benefit is gained as far as I am concerned. Dont like trophy mandatory support, 3d is irrelevant to me and the only thing the last update did was remove a feature. All that wasted bandwidth just to be able to see what they didnt update the store with.

At least we got final fight.

To be fair truespeed most of the improvments are SDK , optimization and stability related.

I know a lot of people like giving Sony shit over firmware issues abut it's not like they can just go pick OS code from the Code tree. The Firmware team has to figure out a way to Make the PS3 do more while try to make everything run more efficient with out braking compatability with exsisting software. At the same time working around legal issues and patent laws.

Speaking as someone thats had a PS3 since 2006 the improvments in added features, XMB speed , web brower stability have been amazing. And it hasn't cost me an additional dime. If all Sony's going to ask from me is 5 to 10 minutes of my time every few months and I'm going cut them a little slack.

Of course we won't know if this patches any security holes, but i'm sure this will piss off geohot to some degree as this renders his 3.21OO CFW useless now and a 3.30OO would need to be made for him to continue his attention whoring.

It always does that. Someone explained that if there was an error during download it redownloads in the second 50%. Sort of like download is 40% then verify is 10% so at 50% if all went well it will hop to 100%.
