wait... isn't this what I was asking you? :lol

to be honest, i'm not sure. i was just making a funny. although it could be true (and probably is if you ask a Nintendo fan, you know the running joke about that I'm sure. ;)

He doesnt attention!

I think it looks pretty damn good, even the pad looks alright to me.

looks far more "next Gen" then 360 or REV.

Uhh so now the consoles themselves have to look "next gen"? What exactly consititutes next gen in console design? Just how many more vertices does the PS3 have over the 360????

A classic. :lol

:lol

Rev looks the best. Its simple and does the job but it might be too small. PS3 looks good but i'm not a fan of the curves. Xbox 360 looks cheap like a toy. Even ÂŁ30 dvd players look more expensive. Since these devices will be used around screens they should compared with other devices that work around screens.

where is this wonderous land where you live? and where do I attain the fairy dust to be able to fly myself there? or is it with that "other" very "special" fairy dust that this reality exists? ;)

The design is way better than Xbox 360, in my opinion. Where as Xbox 360 is a cocktail of everything thought fashionable, the PS3 has a distinct, unique look.

That's why I'm torn:

PS3
+ Great looks
+ More powerful performance
+ Strong Japanese support
+ BluRay movies
+ HD gaming
- Bad online execution
- Crap barebones controller

vs.

360
+ GamerTag
+ GamerScore
+ Xbox 360 Guide
+ Analog triggers and great controller
+ HD gaming
+ Strong Western support
- Mediocre graphics and physics
- Crap design

vs.

+ Revmote
+ Pure sex design
+ Size
+ Nintendo back catalog
- Nintendo Wi-Fi (gamer codes wtf ftl)
- SDTV
- Disappointing graphics and physics
- Weakest support of the three

Who am I kidding? I'll get them all (although I'll try to boycott Rev)

bastard, you got me worried there :P
The PlayStation design was very sexy. Still is. Its definitely number 1 in my console design top 5.

how i see it also.

me 2

Nobody knows.

I know, although I had the beaten housewife syndrome for a long time and believed Nintendo would improve.

If I'm wrong, I'll be glad to be tagged "Revolution will have bad graphics and physics and weak support" for the remainer of the generation.

Bit early for that, given that we haven't really seen either of these things yet. Also - if its online execution was not as good or better than Live, would that make it bad?

So the Xbox 360 has mediocre graphics and physics? Uh, okay... Oh, and the PS3 has "bad online execution", despite nobody really knowing anything about the service at this point?

Great comparison, dude.

Yeah a bit early I know. And my dream scenario would be that Sony would do as good or better than Live and that the controller had analog triggers, then I'd need only one console. Anything below live is bad in my books, I'm spoiled now with 360.

I like the looks of it but i don't like it when it's horizontal.

I don't know about this stupid obsession of vertical systems. First of all those consoles needs to breathe, you need to put up some place so they don't heat up too much on our shelves. Secondly, when the system is vertical, the eye mechanism for the DVD/BRD is
going against gravity --- it's a promise to be disadjusted faster.

horizontal console fo life.

Why does Sony insist on putting the power switch on the back of the machine?

Just like the PS2, it's a power supply switch, you're nost supposed to be switching that off everytime you stop playing.

Until proven otherwise. I love the games I've got as you see from my Achievements, but they aren't exactly pushing the envelope. Sony got benefit of doubt from me after the MGS4 presentation.

If you dont mind setting the bar low then you should be o.k though.

So comparing launch titles to a *graphical presentation* of a game that is probably eighteen months away is a fair comparison? Hell, at least you can play the Xbox 360 games, despite how mediocre they might be. You don't seriously think they're not going to improve over time, do you?

Rev would pass this problem due to the disc slot loader :]

It's true though, I never had a vertical console, wondering if you can put the discs in easily.

Considering they haven't announced their online strategy yet, and it's still up in the air what the final controller will actually be like (though I doubt any major redesign, but no one has held the currently displayed one anyway), I find your negatives for the PS3 rather premature.

I find the positives premature as well.

Indeed, but I was consistently premature with 360 (mediocre graphics and physics) and Revolution (disappointing graphics and physics, weakest support) too so I'd call it even.

Marketing/PR materials for both the PS3 and Xbox360 prominently feature them in the upright position. Ventilation differences between horizontal and vertical can be dealt with and the laser eye is *always* going against gravity, regardless of position. If that mechanism is poorly designed, it could just as easily be affected by gravity in the horizontal position as it could be in the vertical.

not to mention the controller issue (if it is one) will be able to be circumvented by using adapters for either the DS2 (current controller for PS2) or even maybe a 360 controller adapter. not to mention 3rd party hardware (Logitech to the rescue).

so, there really won't be a controller issue at all. but i doubt they come anywhere close to XBL, at least not for a long long while. but you're right, we don't know yet, and anything can happen.

at least you can put the PS3 on the carpet without worry of it overheating.

That remains to be seen, actually. But why would you want to put an expensive piece of equipment like that on the floor, anyway?

No, it's been announced. Instead of overheating, the PS3 will actually burn away the offending area of carpeting in order to protect the PS3.

Man, I hope Sony doesn't pay attention to all the industrial design critics posting here. Love the look of the PS3. It's a tad too big, but it looks very expensive and cutting-edge. I agree that the silver design is the worst out of the three, so it's a shame they're going with that. Looks better than the Satin Silver PS2 or DS though, mainly because of the shiny exterior. :D

and collect the molten carpet in an easy to clean tray underneath the system.

I think the consensus, then, is that in appearances:

Rev>>>360>Ps3

Which is funny, because in processing power, they'lll go the exact opposite direction:

Ps3>360>>>Rev

I think Nintendo overcompensated for their ridiculous GCN design by focusing on the wrong attributes.

Agreed. MGS looks impressive, but it also looks like it's 1-2 years away. Comparing it to launch titles is not a valid comparison for a number of reasons. A more valid comparison would be Gears of War against MGS and there these consoles seem very evenly matched from graphics perspective.

BTW: Otherwise very good comparison Chitta!

Finally other people share my views. I always thought the PS3 design was terrible. It looks like a pregnant PS2. When the design was first released, and people kept exclaiming that it was good, I thought I was going crazy.

Because they think you need to press 2 buttons to turn on a console :lol. Stupid Sony.
