PS4 Black Friday Deals Revealed

They said they are selling 3x more mow right?. Do we have any idea what that means? Any numbers pop up for the October NPD's?

How much did the PS4 fall from September?
Did the XB1 stay flat? Or low because everyone was waiting for the 350 bundles?
Did they announce that price cut weeks a head of time like removing Kinect ? I forget. Are they comparing the weeks everyone with a brain would be holding off until the price cut to the post cut sales? I remember the sales while everyone waited for Kinect where pretty dire.

Didnt that Aaron Greenburg or something say like "Wait for September,October,November,December as they will pick up there" and so far PS4 has outsold xbone for the first 2. Im guessing MS PR will keep moving the goal post for every quarter lol.

Well the latest tweets from ol' Greenberg say that only November and December matter now. So forget September and October!

I assume if they lose in November then December will become THE MOST IMPORTANT MONTH and then IF they lose that then "console wars are not decided in Year 1, everyone knows the most consoles are sold after the price drops to $299. Oh BTW XB1 for 299" and we will start hearing rumours of a slim XB1 in time for Halo.

I mean they couldn't shut up about winning December last year by a hair for like 4 months so I can see even winning 1 month this year will carry them PR wise until E3.

I am super curious what the numbers will be. I hope they leak out this time.

I fully expect a XB1 win but if its only a slight win with the cards they are currently playing thats not great.

That's a hell of a bundle.

Anyone else think it's kind of weird all the PS4 advertising has it standing vertically? I mean, I know you can buy the stand and what not. Just seems kinda odd it seems to be the advertised way to position the console without the component to do it in the box.

And the blue light.

I'm starting to think the white light is an engineering mistake. Has to be.

As a current PS4 owner these bundles are good for me because I can pick up cheap copies of GTAV and LBP3. :D

Though I hope Sony discounts PS+ again this year.

The interesting thing is that no stores (except Walmart) have actually discounted the PS4 for BF.

Sony is releasing their "Bundles" for $399 but so far with the exception of Walmart offering a $50 discount on the base (non bundled) unit or two additional games with the bundle for $449 I haven't seen any stores actually discount the console from their end.

It appears that the PS4 has been moving well enough on its own that retailers aren't willing to dip into their profits on the PS4's. I guess it makes sense if its the console consistently in demand but still a bit disappointing.

Realistically, if Sony wins November, I can't picture another scenario in which Microsoft wins another major month.

They will have a slim model and Halo next year, but I don't think that will be enough.

Agreed. The more we get into November the more I think Sony wins it.The NPD thread is going to be epic, assuming we get any numbers.

I would not underestimate Halo 5 next year if 343 returns to (Bungie) form. Given they'll have had 3 years for development I think there's a good chance it will be much better than Halo 4. Ditto Gears 4; if these games are quality I think it will provide MS with a huge boost in NA. Beyond that though, I don't think there's anything in their existing catalogue which could help them catch up, besides repeated price drops.

That $399 price is too high. Its going to be on shelves next to $329 X1s.

Anecdotal, just like your blanket statement, but a majority of the people I know would rather get a PS4 or a Wii U (gasp Mario Kart) than an Xbox One. The messaging left such a negative impression that they'd rather spend the extra dollars on a PS4 or a comparable Wii U.

Do they reflect the spectrum of consumers who are value shoppers? Probably not. However, if you think a $399 PS4 with GTA V and the Last of Us is not compelling to shoppers- than I urge you to reassess whatever your thinking.

The $329 Xbox One is a great value, but it also has the unwanted negative stigma that still resonates with it.

I think Microsoft can win, they just have to corner the market with the right software, price, and exclusives. The Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza 6 are a true trifecta of awesome.

That's if the Trifecta exists in vaccum. We'll obviously have to wait for Sony's holidays 2015 but just having Uncharted cancels out Halo (when it comes having an "exclusive massive blockbuster" game on your system).

What did Jimmy say he wanted for Christmas?

Playstation 4. All his friends are getting one, seems to be the in thing at the moment.

OK. But these here Xboxes are only $329, maybe we could get one of those, save a few dollars?

Remember when Jenna wanted a cabbage patch kid and we bought her a furby? Lets get the PS4.

My only issue with Halo or Gears driving install base is wondering how much of the install base has already bought in?

I mean Gears topped out at approx 6 million didn't it? So when Gears 4 hits most of the customer base for it could already have an Xbox. Same for Halo.

I think the issue with the really big franchises is they give a decent sales spike at launch but in fact a lot of the audience is there already - i.e all 10 to 11 million potential install base for Halo isn't waiting for Halo 5, a percentage will have bought already. The question is what percentage?

EDIT: obviously I see the same question with Uncharted, etc. Each big release should give a spike but how much it really lifts the basline demand depends on how much of the audience has already bought ahead of the game release

I'm thinking Uncharted may not follow that same logic due in large part to the cross over we're seeing from 360 to PS4, a phenomenon I'm not conviced has run its course yet. I feel like there are far more 360 gamers that remained behind compared to PS3 gamers. They haven't bought into the new gen yet and aren't yet convinced either way. I feel like they'll be far better served on the PS4 due to a combination of the shroud of negativity surrounding MS, the lack of exclusives in the first part of the year to compete with the Order and Bloodborne, and a combination of the distaste or apathy towards both the Gears and Halo series alongside the sexy shine of Uncharted - a series they didn't consume quite the same way.

I feel like TLoU really helped spark Uncharted 4's momentum and hype. TLoU was one of the most talked about IPs for the last year, and if anything, it cemented ND's cred as the one of the best storytellers in the business.

I mean, that game sold 8 million+ across PS3/PS4. That's probably more than any Uncharted game to date, and it's a new IP.

I'm actually surprised by the lack of PS4 Black Friday deals. The $399 bundles are available everywhere, including online. There is actually no reason for someone to go into a B&M store for a PS4 this year.

The best deal ( the bundle + 2 games for $450) from walmart is also an on-line only deal.

Normally the Stores have some type of deal to get you in the door but it looks like the deals will be on the games only.

Meijer has a $50 coupon cash with the bundle as well, but them and Walmart are it.....It's still a great bundle with great value, that family bundle is great...

I dont think the PS4 has a chance of winning november, but this, Halo and AC being busted along with COD being quite divisive will probably kill the extra momemtum the Xbox had over this month.

It will still be selling better for the immediate future but its not going to close the game between the two overall all that much.

Are people saying that PS4 will win November in the US? Not a troll question, honestly asking, because I think those people are crazy.

XB1 is going to crush the PS4, in the US, in November. I mean, when you slash the price by $50 (or even $70), throw in brand new, wanted games, you're going to win. They'll both sell gangbusters, but come on.

What does crush mean?

Bookmarked.

We're not saying that PS4 will win, but it's certainly possible. Xbox One may be cheaper, but the bundled games are mediocre. One is a technical mess and the other is a year old. The PS4 is bundled with two amazing games, dare I say it, two of the greatest games of all time.

I'd love to be wrong, just as I'd love to be right. No matter what happens, it's going to be a shitshow. If PS4 wins, Microsoft just blew a bunch of money and threw away a ton of profit with little to show. If the XB1 wins, the forums might explode with fanboy wars.

It's gonna be good no matter what.

I think what people are pointing out is that we are getting indications that the price cut gave the Xbox a massive boost the first week but it died down quickly. Its selling better yes, but its just trucking along, when you would expect a snowball effect from this kind of deal.

I think it was just simply too early for this kind of price cut. We are still on the first wave of buyers. I think it would of had much more effect next november. I very much doubt Microsoft will have the same effect two years in a row if they do it again. Even worse, this deal may even weaken sales next year as people will expect it to happen.

I understand why they felt they had to do it, but I just dont think it will be remotely as effective as they hoped.

With this bundle Sony are going to keep trucking along and sell a healthy amount of consoles. They might not win the month, but I doubt they will be as far behind as such a huge price disparity would suggest.

If the PS4 is more than 100k less in either Nov or December ill be shocked.

Do we have any idea what these games will be though? Is it just a bunch of Wal-Mart shovelware?

So if my roommate wants to buy a PS4 and play GTAV, are there going to be zero bundle options until 1.5 weeks after GTA's release?

I just don't see why this bundle has to wait until after Thanksgiving. Microsoft already has their bundles available, even if they're $30 pricier now than they will be in Black Friday.

Seems like Sony is dropping the ball making GTA fans wait 1.5 weeks post release.

I guess the first bundle is good if you haven't played either of the games last-generation.

I'm wondering if there would have been a Driveclub bundle (unless I missed one) if hadn't been problems.

They'll both sell pretty much everything they stock shelves with on Black Friday. The winner is whoever produces the most stock.

. It can go either way, let's not forget this isn't the first Xbox One price cut. And if XB1 does sell better it won't be by much, so crush is the wrong word. Both have new, wanted games and will sell gangbusters, COME ON.

Um, if you were offered a Zune for $50 with 10 free songs and one free movie, would you take that over a $150 Ipod? Some people would for sure, but most would still want the Ipod.

Are you seriously comparing a Zune to an XB1? PS4 is only slightly ahead in the US (worldwide is a different story), whereas the iPod was crushing (huehue) the Zune.

pretty much. one selling more than another is just going to be a PR thing. the other company can just say they sold all of the consoles they shipped and that demand is outstripping the amount of supply.

also...sony is going to have to deal with worldwide demand versus just supplying enough consoles to the US.

That's a good point and the sales of TLOU are evidence for this. TBH with current trends the Xbox is more likely to suffer from a preset install base than PS4. Not what Xbox fans want to hear but very likely true.

With a bigger influx of owners who likely didn't have a PS3 the PS4 does probably have the advantage there.

So something like this?

XB1 - 1,000,000
PS4 - 666,666

I don't follow specific numbers that closely around the holiday, but yeah, that ratio or something similar.

I agree that supply is going to be an issue, but with Microsoft going so hard with these deals I see them producing more. They want units out there, and they want them out there bad. Walmart is even doing a freakin' rain check on the XB1 and not the PS4, I believe. It's guaranteed at that price with those games as long as you simply show up.

Um, if you were offered a Zune for $50 with 10 free songs and one free movie, would you take that over a $150 Ipod? Some people would for sure, but most would still want the Ipod.

That would be the best deal ever... Zune is discontinued and I'm going to screwed if;/when mine finally dies.

It's gonna be good no matter what.

Hardly. I think most people expect MS to win. They are effectively buying the month. They are giving away all margin just to make a PR statement. They will win, maybe by 200k, which is not much for such a big month. The real interesting part is what happens in Jan? Will the price be $399 and return to anemic sales? Will they just take a loss going forward on all hardware to sustain competitive sales?

After Halo and and a price drop, they have nothing. They showed their cards, is it enough for 2015? And no Halo 5 isn't going to sell more consoles, all those halo fans have a XB1 now.

I think it'll be at least 1.5:1. I would guess 2:1, but 1.5:1 is a pretty safe bet. Halo, COD, a price drop, it's just all a great deal and very enticing.

I don't see a system being outsold for every month of the year and then suddenly beating the top selling console by that margin in the holidays.

You guys are crazy.

Anyone else expecting there to be any better/different deals closer to black friday? I really want a bundle that includes 1 year of PS+

Either that or a bundle that includes TLoU & LBP3

or LBP3 & Battlefield
