PS4 firmware 4.50 add Boost Mode for PS4 Pro.

Has anybody tried GTA V?
Yes! All those 5-10fps dips in the city and the crazier dips when things go BOOM in the middle of a couple dozen cars are now buttery smooth (in SP and GTA online).

It's on par with the boost to The Witcher 3, which has been super smooth in Novigrad and the swamp so far.

If you don't read them they don't exist :)
Lol...if only!
Looking forward to see your results.

Thanx, Can you share already a list of games you will be testing?
Trying to cover as many as possible, may do some individual videos first before a collective one. But please request here, twitter or my channel. I have Bloodborne, just cause 3, Ac Unity, Shadowfall, BF3 already on the go.

Howdy, thought everyone might like a summary for this long thread. Here's all the impressions posted here, along with some video links. As with all individual impressions, keep in mind that people have differing views of what constitutes a framerate improvement, and sometimes are wrong that there is one at all. (This is especially true since a very large portion of the below impressions come from one user.)

No Doom testing yet?

There were reports here about better framerate in stress test situations [big shootouts and explosions in city centres], and better overall performance in GTAOnline.

Yes! All those 5-10fps dips in the city and the crazier dips when things go BOOM in the middle of a couple dozen cars are now buttery smooth (in SP and GTA online).

It's on par with the boost to The Witcher 3, which has been super smooth in Novigrad and the swamp so far.

Awesome, that's good to hear.

Good thing I've noticed is all the games my Pro remains quiet with are still quiet even with boost on. It's crazy how loud it can get when playing something like FF15 though *shrug*

Yakuza 0 was 60 already but you could tell certain long, busy streets would drop just enough or flicker to make you notice. Also not sure if the screen tearing was present in base ps4's but it was there for me. Heard a few other people chime in to say that.

Anyways, put 4 hours in today with Boost on. Fantastic. No tearing and the busy streets are butter now. All I needed! Yakuza 0 is such a treat :)

No Doom testing yet?

I didn't record footage of Doom but it does run better. Couldn't tell you about the resolution because I mainly tested the final level but I didn't notice any drops where there were some before (when the trials get crazy at the end).

Nice job Brave, weird about Shadowfall, I would have thought it would get a big improvement considering you can unlock the fps.
It may turn out to be significant, I can't test any of these myself. They're all just impressions, and as such they can be mistaken.

Liabe has a great thread about Pro improvement that I am sure he will update with this information.
I will indeed update that thread, but not until the firmware is out of beta; I only put games in the lists if available to all players.

Since that will likely be several weeks, right now I'd suggest the Boost mode comparison thread from giancarlo123x.

Fallout 4 works really well. I tried it on my Spectacle Island settlement that has way too many things built on it, Far Harbor, and downtown Boston. There's an immediate and noticeable improvement. I wonder how the Pro patch next week will fare against this.

Batman: Return to Arkham had already FPS increase on PS4 PRO. I wonder how it runs now after the update. Maybe NXGamer or someone who has the game can tell us.

Is there an easy way to count FPS on PS4?

Just a curious question. What about games that already got PS4 Support from the devs ? Does this update help to get better and smoother FPS for them?
Did anyone test a supported PS4 PRO game after this update?

Did you mean BF4? I'm really looking forward to that game's results. Love your content by the way, been subscribed for a bit.

Been rocking the OG PS4 since launch and have been ok without feeling the need for the Pro but honestly, after this development with the Boost mode I'm seriously thinking of trading my regular PS4 in for the Pro. Still using a 1080p set but I really want one for just the overall performance improvements.

Big fan of Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1. Seeing how BF1 runs better on the Pro, and hopefully improved framerate in BF4 is pushing me to get one. Going to have to be later in the year though, just can't afford it right now.

If a game already had a Pro patch...Then it's already using the whole GPU and higher clocked CPU...This update will do NOTHING

I've played Lichdom Battlemage and I'm pretty sure I'm seeing big improvements. DF's video before without boost mode showed framerates all over the place from 30-60. I haven't experienced that yet and it feels more like 50-60 tbh. I can't record to show differences though.
