Psychonauts is $2 on Steam. BUY IT NOW.

The platforming may not be as tight as some other games but it is in no way horrible. The only issue I had with meat circus was the wheel where the perspective changes.

If I didn't already own three copies, including on Steam, I would purchase again for $2.
 
The platforming in Psychonauts is nowhere near as bad or good as different people say. My computer gave up before I was able to complete the game, but I got quite far, and the platforming could have been better, but it could have been much, much worse.

There's nothing "me, too" about it. Aside from maybe one or two stages, the level design os vastly different from what you normally see in a platformer. Now, you can make the argument that the platforming action, itself, is by-the-numbers, but Pyschonauts is hardly a game that treads a beaten path.

I honestly think the gameplay was good. You had a lot of different powers and the game used them quite well in some of the craziest levels ever made. Sure it wasn't the main strength of Psychonauts, and there was boring sections here and there, but it wasn't a weakness either, to me at least.
It's a very special game for me. After I finished it for the first time I couldn't play anything else for days. I can understand why some people couldn't get into it, but when it clicks with you, it's a powerful experience. I'll never forget it. So for 2 bucks, everyone should at least try it. :)

I would suggest Windows 7 users try the demo first. I am running Win7 64 bit and for the life of me I can't get the demo to start, I double click it, and it just doesn't open anything, no errors, no nothing, just nothing happens (I messed around with admin rights, restarted, reinstalled, etc. to no avail). Not sure if this would apply to the full game, maybe just a problem with the demo, maybe just a problem with my computer, but I'm going to pass until I know this thing will work. Google turned up a few other people with similiar problems, but no solutions.

Chances are it's an isolated thing, but just a warning.

Well . . . I'm running it on a Windows 7 HP notebook with a AMD Turion Ultra 64 processor with no problems.

But yeah . . . PC games are still PC games . . . sometimes there are just weird conflicts or quirks that make you want to pull your hair out. With all the cheap games I bought on steam lately, if one or two don't work for me, that's fine. But I'm happy that Psychonauts isn't one of the duds.

so i played this game for about one hour and so far i love it..

the characters are really great... and the dialogues are hilarious..

i had some problems with the game design though. especially the platforming seems to be oddly off.. im playing with a 360 controller btw.
 
I'm a Mac user.

I played the game on the Xbox. It is worth $2, but not not the retail price I paid back in the day...

As you can see by my specs, I don't really play very many computer games. I figured for $2, I might as well pick this up. I figured my computer could probably run a game that came out 5 years ago.

Can You Run It says my video card failed both the minimum and the recommended. Can anyone explain to me why? It says that I exceed all the requirements.

Apparently the deal runs "through Thursday", hopefully you have time.

Saw the deal and jumped on it immediately, even though it's double-dipping for me. I'm glad to see it up in the Top Sellers section, means that people aren't missing out on a great game.

It seems like they've got a Midweek Madness deal up every week now... Steam will empty even more wallets this year.

I'm playing this right now, and as much as I love the writing and the characters and the voices, the game itself is pretty terrible.

I'm stuck right now in the oleander's sequence in the "bar" part, trying to figure how the heck do I change the direction of my character once he's swinging. Spending 10 minutes doing THAT made me just turn off the game and post this on gaf in frustration >_>

It's mentioned a couple times in the pop up tips. I believe the default is the use key, "F". Stick with it, the game gets much better.
