These taste much better

Cookie Dough is the best Quest bar though.

Looks like a...meat and berry bar should. I'm sure it's fine for people who want that.

What's the best/cheapest place to get these? I'm assuming Amazon unless there's some deal at GNC or Complete Nutrition or something?

Amazon's about $25 per box. There's nothin' wrong with going that route/.

Seems like all the bars I'm finding for sale on Amazon have artificial sweetner in them despite claims in the original post that there aren't any. Am and I missing something? I guess for something that's sugar-free it has to have something in it to give it some taste.

No you're not missing anything. That's the problem with Quest bars: they still use sugar alcohols and fake sugars. It's why real food is always better.

Who would ever claim otherwise? Quest bars are so great because they fulfill sweet cravings and have a great protein&fiber to calorie ratio!

Never seen them before. I usually eat Clif protein bars when I skip breakfast - they're tasty enough and not that awful for you. There is some sugar, yes, but it's not going to kill you.

I am seeing erythritol (sugar alcohol I believe), stevia, and sucralose in the ingredients for the Quest bars, which doesn't exactly make me want to go out of my way to try one.

From the description it sounds more like a...meat bar with cranberries in it? I'm already eating a pound + of meat a day. I don't need it in bar form too.

They sound like they have their place. No artificial sweeteners or ingredients, which is nice. They're also portable and don't need refrigeration, unlike meat. You could take them on hikes, for example.

Still, I guess at that point I'd rather just buy really good jerky.
or just have a Quest bar

Stevia is natural. Same with erythritol. Sucralose is an artificial sweetener though.

Quest bars have two lines:

Original: this has sucralose
All Natural: this has stevia

I don't know the general consensus on stevia on these boards but from all the research and reading I have done it is natural and better than regular white sugar and all the splenda type fakes. Plus even the "original" line Quest bars aren't overloaded with sugar.

I don't know how you can justify the sugar in a cliff bar but then say the amount of stevia in a quest bar is a turn off?

Today I am trying the lemon cream pie flavor. I know I am not going to like it. Don't like lemon cream pie to begin with. Oh well I guess for the next batch I will order cookie dough.

Also when you guys microwave, you put on a plate or in a bowl? You don't put it in with the wrapper do you?

It's the sucralose that bothers me most. Sugar alcohols tend to give me the shits but I think erythritol is better than maltitol as far as that's concerned, and stevia I don't really avoid but also don't seek out as it's relatively new and I'm a bit wary of it. It's also been tough to get up here as I think Canada only allowed it as a sweetener/additive in the past year.

20g of sugar in the Clif bar doesn't bother me at all, I'm not overweight and I exercise and if I wasn't eating the Clif bar I'd be eating something that would have carbs in it anyway.

oh my :doublevom:
I don't eat bacon or bison though, so..

The White Chocolate Raspberries are out? I'll need to holler at 6 different GNC locations this upcoming week. (Or ask one location to check their computer to see if any stores have them.)

My tops

1) Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
2) Peanut Butter Supreme
3) Vanilla Almond Crunch

New top holder? White Chocolate Raspberry

I think some other protein bars tastes better, but they are candy bars. Only if Quest Bars tasted like Honey Stinger Dark Chocolate Cherry Almond Protein Bar :sweetjesus:

God like status. That > Quest Bars
They are like candy bars though :(

Edit: One cool factor is the Honey Stinger bar has like 25% organic honey. Honey is a prebiotic (or probiotic) so it's good for you.

I love the people coming in here saying X bars are better and then they have like 20-30g sugars.

No thanks Jeff.

I bet a butterfinger tastes better too.

On a related note, a glass of vodka will get you way more drunk than a glass of beer. Newsflash!

Hey dudes, good news. Amazon now has Cookie Dough and White Chocolate Rasberry Quest Bars! Don't need to go to GNC for those two anymore which is especially nice if you're GNCs all stopped accepting your coupon :(

went up to the local GNC today to pick up my usual box of quest bars and the broseph working not only gave me 20% off the box but also 25% off on the two raspberry flavored bars he had recommended.

Yeah, I haven't tried quest bars (have never seen them in my country) but it's pretty easy to understand why FitGAF loves them: high protein, lowest sugar (and sugar alcohol) content of any bar. And apparently they taste great.

Pretty much all other Protein Bars are basically like a Snickers with Whey in it. I mean, what's the point?

Hmm guessing b3g1 should be at my GNC today. Even with the increased price would gladly pay that vs the normal price. My local GNC always looks so empty and it feels like I'm the only one that uses the coupon and they've let me use it no problems every single time.

i just ordered a box of these from amazon, will report back
I just checked Amazon and cookie dough is over 30 bucks! I think I'm going with Vitamin Shoppe. It's 24.99 with free shipping and the have white chocolate raspberry.

i got it for 24.99 from amazon with free shipping (apple pie)

So what is the consensus on sugar alcohols?

Some are pointless nutrition facts scammery that are still metabolized and just give you gas as a bonus (maltitol...). Erythritol is legit, and becoming increasingly common especially when paired with stevia. Vitaminwater Zero, Quest Bar (natural line), etc. Wiki for specifics on the sugar alcohols.
