no of course i don't know what version MM will ship with. i was just using it as an example in the event that it did. i do know this lets you bypass updates though.
I was excited about this, until I realized that everything I want will eventually come over here lol. Senran Kagura 2, Project Mirai...
Do it anyway I beat the entire game using roughly this method:I really want to import Dragon Quest VII but i can't read japanese.
It's especially easy if you've played the PS1 game before and know what to do most of the time.Spend a weekend learning to read Katakana; most of it will read out to English words anyway (example: オレンジジュース reads as orenji juusu, literally Orange Juice). Play another recent Dragon Quest game a bit in English to see how the menus are laid out. Refer to this walkthrough as you go for when you get stuck (from the PS1 version -- its mostly the same scenarios), and you should use this Japanese language guide with google translate on/off to figure out what spells/skills/items do what (items are easier since there are pictures next to every item). The JP language guide is also good for figuring out what you learn from different classes.
I know a bit more Japanese than this but aside from the above what I know hasn't been that helpful. Using just the above I'm ~45 hours in. It's really not so bad.
So, who want to make a thread about import-friendly Japanese games, US games to Europeans and vice-versa ?
Digital only. I think there's a physical version with a download code though. Was European Calciobits (pocket soccer something) retail or digital? Getting that for sure.
Sad to hear.Hmm, does it work on DSi games? Trying to load Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem without luck.
I get the "failed to load part of the page" error on the internet browser.
EDIT: Okay, the second part is normal.
EDIT2: Okay, apparently DSi support is impossible/unlikely.
Anyone know if this works with DS games? I have a bunch of region locked dsi enhanced games.
Yes this works. This fucking works!!!! I have alot of UK 3ds games as I used to live there but now I'm in the US.
I just hope it can work for the n3ds.
Just got my girlfriend's 3DS games to see if they work. She's from the Americas and I am testing it on my European 3DS.
Edit:
It works, it's amazing, and I am running the latest firmware:
Smealum does what Nintendon't
Works on my EU 3DS XL 9.4.0-21E. I can finally play my Rune Factory 4 physical cartridge!
Does not work on my NA 2DS 9.4-21U though. Just crashing.
For anyone else having trouble, using this QR code to go to the exploit site worked for me. Might be worth giving a shot.
Edit: Got it working. For anyone that keeps getting errors, try to bookmark the page along with clearing your cache.
Got it working on a 9.2 US 3DS with a JP copy of Kingdom Hearts 3D. Going to see if my JP 3DS can get a US game up and running, too.
Awesome, Smash US works flawlessly on my JP 3DS. I plan on getting a JP n3DS, so i think I'll use my current JP 3DS as a backup 3DS for playing all physical games, and I'll use my n3DS and my US 3DS for eShop stuff that I want to buy.
Man, I did not expect to wake up to a region free 3DS this morning. Good times!
Works with both Project Mirai: Hatsune Miku games. Still keeping my old JPN 3DS just as back up though.
https://github.com/smealum/regionthree/blob/master/README.mdWhy are so many people saying Smea wouldn't werk on the exploit fer N3DS? Did he confirm that somewhere?
A damn shame
A damn shame
This exploit is rad but I don't think many will be keeping the old hardware around.
I mean, so many people are upset with the whole N3DS fiasco. A region unlock would fix these woes. At least it's kind of being worked on with Gateway. But it would be great to have an option that doesn't enable piracy. There's likely some sense of morality in not cracking the newest hardware or he simply has no interest as there's not much gained from the work and a minimum of titles are N3DS limited. Even if he doesn't intend on breaking the 3DS for piracy, places like GBAT are salivating at the thought.
Does this require online once to activate each game to unlock region free, or do you have to be online all the time to play region free?

That's what vita is for, dat native region free + better dpad.
What an age we live in.For anyone else having trouble, using this QR code to go to the exploit site worked for me. Might be worth giving a shot.
the one reason i'd want the JP N3DS to get this region free hack is to be able to use my US SSB4 copy on my JP N3DSLL to get the 2nd stick benefits to improve some scores since it's easier to use that than manually doing smash attacks.
my whole plan got crushed when NoA decided to not release the standard N3DS and i'm not buying another console identical to the one i have already now.
anyone can confirm the US 3DS (original one) can play the monster hunter 4G well? If yes, I will rush to buy the game now. Thanks
