RESIDENT EVIL 6 is the BEST RESIDENT EVIL!

Its my favorite of the series (I've only played 4,5,6). Its so much better than the previous two games its ridiculous. The controls, inventory system, QTE's, etc. are huge improvements. Its like going from a PS1 game to PS2.

man, I fuck with Resident Evil 6 but that's a bridge too far. If anything I'll go back to its Mercenaries mode and Chris's campaign.

Out of the third person action Resident Evil's, 4 is still the GOAT. Resident Evil 5 is the best for co-op. Resident Evil 6 is just over the top but still enjoyable like the Fast and the Furious franchise.

No.

Resident Evil 5 is, especially the Nightmare's DLC

I know many people will disagree with me but it just is.

Mind you I only played 4, 5, 6 and 7

I liked 5's Nightmare dlc but you really, really got to play the original trilogy.

If you're playing coop then yes. Bonus points for them fixing the shitty control scheme part 4 and 5 have that everyone loves to defend.

RESIDENT EVIL was NEVER ONLY SURVIVAL HORROR, RESIDENT EVIL was ALWAYS a cliché to those hollywood movies where a cheesy hero conquers all obstacles and gets out of it.

I totally agree, but 6 just has way too many messy sections in it's campaigns to be the best in the series. The other games are way more consistent.

That being said, I'm a firm believer that Chris's campaign is actually the best RE6 campaign.

It's ok to have wrong opinions OP. Re3 is my favourite and I know I'm in the minority as I'm sure the majority prefer 4.

Agreed. Since it was the only campaign that went all in on the action.
Dunno why capcom tried to pretend RE6 was anything more than that.

It was a joke munchie. You're just too unique.

lol.
I'm glad we're cool. I know you hate action RE with a passion, but i'm glad there's no hard feelings.

Are you me? Are you my long lost clone?
Because that's exactly how I feel as well.

It has great core mechanics, but it's one of the most poorly designed games I've played in the last decade or so.

The level design, pacing, encounter design, and boss fights are simply woeful.

Liking Re6 is like a person who likes twin snakes.. can't take them seriously. I'll give the game this tho if it wasn't called RE it's a good game.

One thing I'll never understand is people that legitimately think they are the sole arbiters of what's True™ Resident Evil and people are Wrong top like one of those games that are obviously not worthy of the name.

It's so childish.

I stopped reading at "best controls"

Like give me a fucking break

Did we play the same god damn game? Because I couldn't tolerate that games clunky bullshit for more than 2 hours and I've been playing video games since I could shit in a toilet like come the fuck on.

6 is a turd.

No. Sure, it controls alright and has that low bar going, but goddamn, that encounter design is terrrrrriiiible. Leons sections are alright and then it all goes downhill from there.

You are right. Capcom just didn't have the right technology at the time of the development of Resident Evil back in 1995. Resident Evil 6's core gameplay was the original vision.

Perhaps you should read my comments.

Obviously they started with that survival horror setting. Though tell me one logical opinion why Leon, Chris, Jill or whoever still should crawl through floors in buildings like mice in a labyrinth. They didn't knew the threat back then, they do now.

It's a good evolution and cheesy character development.

You're fucking crazy to think 6 is better than 4, but you're also fucking crazy to not recognize that it's a fantastic tps as far as controls are concerned.

I'm sorry OP, but i strongly disagree with your opinion, because RE6 is piece of shit with godawful gameplay, horrible pacing, idiotic even for RE standards story and crap controls. I played a lot shitty games in my life, but i never dropped any game so quickly as i dropped playing RE6, this game is fucking disgrace of Resident Evil franchise.
But it's good to know that somebody besides Jawmuncher love it.

I kinda hate everything I've seen about RE6, but the sale and the OP is kiiiiiiinda tempting me to go for the bundle and finally try RE5 too, not gonna lie. Gotta.....save my money....though...

Ugh, no. RE6 is way too over the top. Cant stand that game at all.

It's the best RE because, that's what it's supposed to be. Over the top, cheesy hollywood stars conquering any obstacle.

Only because the first Resident Evil started in a spooky building. It isn't supposed to continue on.

Take a good look at the original Resident Evil, you will notice it's more funny than horror and that's what it was always was supposed to be.

Isnt this the game where Capcom had 3 different studios competing with each other without actually sharing their resources and progress?

holup, Immma let you finish, but Resident Evil 3 is the GREATEST RESIDENT EVIL OF ALL TIME!

not really, but it roflstomps 6 anyday

most definitely @ the spoilered comment

OP: RE2 is the best RE and one of the best games ever made. REMake is close.

RE4-6 are abominations that should never have been made. Haven't played 7 but I wouldn't be surprised if I feel the same about that one, too.

Apparently not, because this thread is about Resident Evil 6, a game that actually controls fantastically-well if you take the time to understand it.

I fully believe that they could've done a much better job explaining all of the things you can actually do in the game, because there's basically no functional tutorial or explanation on how to play. Most people probably just go in and don't even realize that they can, for example, roll/slide and remain on the ground to quickly shoot. Or Quick Shots and their dynamics and considerations.

The sheer dynamism of what you're able to do in the game is what makes the gameplay so good - of course, this goes on top of putting you into situations where it's useful. It's effectively gameplay and character control designed for The Mercenaries.

But I'll step back a bit here: What makes you think the game has awful gameplay? What about it are you saying is actually bad?

If you found the controls clunky in 6 then the previous games must have been miserable for you too.

Gameplay-wise, absolutely.
What is with this idea that "gameplay" doesn't include things like level design, enemy design, genre shifts, and basically every other non-aesthetic aspect of the game besides how much shit your character can do?

Like here's a good question: How is the cover system good gameplay design? Fans insist taking cover isn't needed, but then the campaign levels are strewn with shit like chest-high walls and the cover mechanics are an intrusive part of the controls. But none of this apparently counts as "gameplay".
