Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

So Jack can't enter the scorpion door in the hall. Even if he is one step behind you, he despawns the second you you open that door.

One time he got me near that door, grabed me, charged a punch right in my face and disappered.

That's not based n the door, that's a random event that can happen. Happened to me in the Main Hall randomly elsewhere, he can do the "welcome to the family, son!" punch he does in the main hall (though without the dialogue), knock you to the ground, and then he'll have mysterious vanished. Happened to me once on the opposite side of the shotgun door once. Was quite confused when it happened myself, bt I think it's an event that can happen in the main hall.

I'm absolutely certain that the scorpion door despawns him. I've never experienced the family punch you mentioned, but he's chased me a dozen times to that door and vanishes the instant I reach it. I think if you turn around you can see the ground floor door opposite close, as if he retreated through it.

I'm enjoying Ethan Must Die so much.

Dusk. I need to watch you play this. Don't forget to tell us when you want to stream it.

Fuck. I just about beat EMD but I got tagged by a bomb right as she was about to die. Feels so bad.

EDM is so luck based (is it called RNG?).

I got 3 stablizers in a run...

Another run I got a grande launcher (useless) and walking shoes...

If you enter 1146, Clancy's body will show a different number instead. I've beaten the game three times now, first time I got 1408, so next playthrouhgh I tried that but it wasn't right. So when I got to Clancy's body it said 1146 instead.
Heh, I was wondering about this.

Yeah, I just... I had the run lol. Something like 10 shotgun bullets, 1 grenade launch, 3 albert, and 40 machine gun rounds. Let her get hit a billion times by the turret. Dropped down and was actually crouching and got hit by a lone bomb. She would have been dead if I had just stayed put.

My heart actually broke.

That said, it was my first time actually getting to her, and I've gotten pretty good at the mode even dealing with shit RNG. So it's just a matter of time. I'll get it.

I thought the x ray glasses were unlocked for using 3 or less healing items? Apparently that isn't the case because I beat it on easy in 2 hours 57 minutes. Used 13 healing items and unlocked the circular saw + x ray glasses. Did not unlock the walking shoes or whatever they are.

I'm actually much happier I unlocked the glasses. I would have never gotten them if the 3 heals requirement were true.

Edit: I guess different sites say different things to get the unlocks. It looks like circular saw + x ray glasses is supposed to be what you get for beating it in under 4 hours. Cool.

I've bren having really good luck with items in my last few EMD runs. I get both shotguns, a pistol, secret of defense, some herbs, gunpowder, and chem fluid, and either machine gun, survival knife, or burner before I even get to the morgue.

And then some trap down the line eventually one shots me lol.

Welp, apparently the "dad" is unkillable. This game is an Outlastlike, which is disappointing. I'm not sure what the point of having guns is. Oh well, it's still a good game.

Huh?

I mean, he's got plot armor, sure, but you fight him 3 times throughout the game, in which you generally need ammunition to do so, and on the final fight you do kill him. So there's that.

The boss fights and the molded are why you need ammo.

I don't know what an Outlastlike is, but this game is not that.

You sure about that? Don't want to retract your post because of your own hyperbole?

I wasn't trying to be hyperbolic, I honestly thought that that dude couldn't be killed.

Good to know that he can be totally killed. Thank god. I just assumed he was immortal because I killed him in the garage and then he popped back up in the house again later on. And when he appeared in the house again, I shot the crap out of him and he went down for like twenty seconds but then popped back up again almost immediately. So I just quit shooting him and kept running away from him, assuming that he was unkillable.

You must be new to Resident Evil if you think most bosses go down in the first encounter. With the exception of RE4, perhaps. Still, "Outlastlike" is way jumping to conclusions and most of us here are tired of hearing that bullshit.

Also the laptop was on the boat she was on so I dunno about those.

The videos are pretty confusing tbf. It's fairly clear Ethan didn't see them, but they seem like they were included for the player and not Ethan because like...it didn't even look like Mia tried to send it? Was she just hoping the laptop would find its way to Ethan at some point? Idk.

I tested the code door in the barn some more. It looks like it's locked to three codes, in this order:

1408
1146
7500

If you enter two codes in, one during Lucas' ramble and another straight after that, it'll lock you out and say "I need to find the password", which forces you to physically find the third.

Not random but unless there's something hidden somewhere, there's no way to bypass the barn section.

Is there any reason why he couldn't have seen the video? Him seeing it didn't seem to contradict anything to me.

I mean, I would think if he saw it he'd either mention it or he wouldn't come at all. He only mentions the email as the source of contact with Mia and what brought him to the Baker estate.

I don't think the video got to Ethan. If you observe the email the message tells him to come to the Baker Plantation in Dulvey, Lousiana to pick Mia up. Why would that message be sent with the "Stay away!" video? Ethan also never mentions the video, just the email telling him to pick up Mia. The person at the start is also 100% Mia and not Ethan when the video is playing, it's her hands and breathing.

Now to who sent the email even telling him to come here, I don't think it's ever explicably said. Though I think most evidence leans to Eveline through Mia.

I read Ethan's actions as 'She told me to stay away, but I got this email three years later, so I have to investigate it'. He even mentions that the email could have been a prank. But after three years it seemed like 'stay away' would have stopped mattering to him anyway.

But I guess the game could have been using the 'stay away' video for the purposes of showing how Ethan was getting himself into a situation he had no warning about, especially seeing as it's show as Mia recording it rather than Ethan watching it.

Probably inconsequential anyway.

I'm pretty sure Mia explicity tells Ethan that Evaline made her send the email to Ethan.
The only time I remember the email being brought up is when Ethan tells her at the beginning he got an email from her, and she says, "No, I didn't... did I?"

But maybe I'm spacing on something.

The video was for the player. Ethan never saw it, he actually notes getting an email only which you can read with no video attached. Also when you watch the flash back you see Mia doesnt get to send it.

I definitely remember something towards the end of the game where eother Mia tells Ethan Evaline made her do it or Ethan says "so that's why she sent the message" or something along those lines.

Probably a bit of a stretch, but has anyone tried storing Mia's email and driver's license in the inventory at the very end of the game to see if there's a hidden ending whatsoever? :P

Getting ready to go for the 4 hour clear. Are there any benchmarks out there, like "Be finished with [event] by [time]?" so I can start over if getting too far behind?[/QUOTE] I finished with the tape on the boat at the 3 hour mark. You can literally run through the salt mines. Use every remote bomb you have on the 2 fat molded to clear that path. Also there are times where you get free health. Like don't heal in the mia fight cause going to the baker house is a free heal. Also save Mia to avoid a boss battle on the boat. I was also going for 100% on my speed run so if you're not doing it, you'll be golden.[/time]

We can all agree Lucas is just a natural sociopath, right? He wasn't under Eveline's control so I assume based on how he killed a kid in the attic he's just a lunatic.

I think Lucas is perfect for being set-up to be a villain lasting outside of RE7. He was already a killer before this, he's good with engineering and design and is basically the RE universes take on a southern hillbilly Jigsaw, but a Jigsaw-esque character that's cornier kind of fits in the universe as the series already had zany contraptions and traps since the beginning, so a villain utilizing and cashing in on that more personally is neat.

I feel he's probably going to join up with an organization and that's not the last we've seen of Lucas. He was basically the most villainous out of all the cast, the one who explicably seems to want to be evil.

This game felt so refreshing. It's the soft reboot I wanted. It feels like the first step of a larger story, with many clear avenues for expansion.

I'm hoping they expand to small town America with something that feels like the film The Bay.

HCF shoutout!

He's probably gonna join up with Tentsu. With all the 3 year info he gave them on Eveline I predict they'll be a larger threat in future games.

So Madhouse actually changes the three molded in the boiler room to a single four-legged one. It's actually easier this way. Huh.

He is the classic "Umbrella crazy scientist" type.
I know he has all the benefits of the virus like fast healing but i wonder if he has super strength like the other family members.

To add to it: I wouldn't mind if you played as Zoe hunting down your brother.
