Resident Evil 8 comes with free Stadia "console"

I keep hearing from people how Stadia is just gonna fold someday and disappear. But yet, Stadia keeps getting big 3rd party support, unlike the failed cloud gaming services in the past.

The deal to bring RE:Village to Stadia was made before the big news of Stadia killing off their 1st party dev; we know that from Capcom leaks.. they were also a partner early on.

What's unclear is whether Google will make many new deals after their downsizing announcement.

Seems unlikely.

RE Village coming to Stadia isn't new news though... giving away outright Stadia kits is new.. and TBH, not a great indicator of Google supporting Stadia. It's fairly obvious they've just been unloading kits they produced in 2019 before the service launched.

I think I'm gonna go for it.

They made the same deal for Cyberpunk.

I don't have neither series X or PS5 and certainly not playing at 30fps on One X so fuck it, I'll going for this deal.

I'll be able to play on my 4K TV, laptop and IPad Pro, that's awesome.

Edit: not available in Canada.

What a bunch of stupid ...
Is 60 fps streaming better than 30 fps local?🤔. Afterall you want 60 fps for responsiveness.

We will have to wait and see. But I find it hard to believe that they are gonna quit on stadia while they are still getting 3rd party support. Google has a ton of money, something else that previous cloud gaming services didn't have.

I mean I'm with you.. Stadia isn't "dead".. and I have trouble believing Google won't at least keep the lights on for the time being.

This is a product where what people pay for is totally locked into their cloud, and if it goes away, those purchases are gone.. so shutting it down would be a PR disaster unless they refund every Stadia customer all the money they've spent.. which.. they might do, TBH.. but I think they'll keep it around for a while to see if cloud streaming in general blows up.

My point was more about the fact this 3rd party deal could have been signed a long time ago... and definitely was signed before recently Google seems to have made a big strategic shift away from spending money on Stadia, which they announced to the world.

The funny thing is, all they would need to do is to change their ownership model of games, and I think the service would instantly become reasonably viable overnight.

Good question! Stadia does stutter and sometime has input lag but It's responsive enough.

I find Stadia to be a versatile service. It's not perfect by any mean but it has some good qualities. Instant gaming where ever you want on whatever device. As long as the internet speed is decent.

It's perfect if you feel like owning console is obsolete. Much much cheaper too.

Bribing people with Stadias, hilarious it's like narcos in Miami in the 90's paying people to rotate all their money so it didn't go moldy.

Google is like

employee of the month ups GIF

I see my boy got his 12 hours of training down.

Honestly if it's free that's cool but still no chance I'd be buying games at full price to build a library that Google is more than likely gonna kill sooner rather than later. Let me pay a monthly subscription for full access then I'll be interested

Still overpriced......
A move to sell the last of the controllers before they shutter......

They caught me at a bad time. I bought the digital deluxe bundle with both games a month ago. Already finished RE7 again. I don't know if I would have changed my mind. I want the game in my library and it's one of the many reasons to why I am excited for the PS5.

Deus Ex had those OnLive codes in the game boxes many years ago. This certainly has more intriguing features about it. You get the hardware for free. RE7 had a cloud based version on the Switch in Japan, so it's not the strangest thing to have happened. It's pretty cool, but is that the only cost to it? So I buy it again on Stadia and I get the controller. I can then play at work, outside, etc. without paying Stadia another cost?

Just wondering what kind of Internet speed is needed to get a good gaming experience from Stadia? My download is 37mb a second and 18ms latency, would that give a good experience?

This is interesting too bad chromecast is a semi useless device. I would be on this if it was something like a firestick and would replace my firestick with it. The controller might be useful for some.

What kind of settings does Stadia play games at or is it dependent on your Internet connection?
Depends on your internet connection and how good the port is, it's up to 1080p 60fps playing Cyberpunk 2077 but I'm way above what's recommended.

Google reckon you need at least 10 Mbps for 720p 60fps and 35 Mbps for games that support "4k 60".

Performance for me has been pretty comparable to my PS4 Pro but in the above case way better on Stadia.

This reminds me of when I was looking at Xbox One X's about a year or two ago. All the bundles were $450-$500 except for the bundle that came with Fallout 76, which was $350-$400. The value of the X1X was reduced because of the pack in game.

AMD Vega 56 GPU.
Ah perhaps less so then. Fidelity FX is big for Stadia I guess.

Can't believe how much Stadia has withered under the lights. When they failed to meet the initial promise by a decent margin and went quiet in response, I expected a quick turn around leading to an impressive hard launch but it's just been background noise since.

I remember the hype for oNlive and this past year with Stadia you're gonna lose if you enter the streaming wars unless you're Disney or netflix.

It depends on who you ask. A free controller and Chromecast for a game you were already going to buy? It's a no brainer and the tech is fantastic.

If you've already got a newer PC or a 'next gen' console, you may want to buy it there instead.
Since it's Capcom I'll just get the game for 25$ this November.

Man, wtf makes all these gaming gifs?
The game animators just for fun. Seems to be a thing going on between most Sony 1st party studios animators.

Stadia creator dies a little inside every time he sees a PS5 and XSX selling out. All that vision of future without a physical box might still not be what ppl want so soon.

Stadia should have gone the netflix way and it would have been a much better proposition. Selling full priced digital games that can only be streamed is a terrible deal.

RE Village + Free Rectal Exam! would by far be the better deal.

Wait, I just remembered that I still have my free Stadia Pro account active.. LOL

How they didn't start with this model is mind boggling. I'd probably have tried it and I'm interested in it still but I'm not going to trust Google at all at this point.

Now if Capcom offered a digital code that crossed over to different consoles lol. It obviously wouldn't happen but it would encourage me to do this.

What GPU have the Stadia got?

After reading the hardware recs and the caveats and with RT but no DLSS the framerates are gonna be all over the place.

720p on Stadia.
Don't think they ever disclosed it, but looking at the clocks and TF rating it's most likely vega 56 and a 4 core 8 thread intel chip (below 3ghz) for their servers.

OP title not clear. Stadia "console"? What console? So you buy Resident Evil 8 and you get Stadia controller and chrome cast? But you're still in the subscription...which I don't want, because it doesn't have any games I'm interested in and it's streaming...which I don't want.

So, in essence, I'm pre-ordering a game that I want to play on a platform I want nothing to do with for free.

I don't understand the logic. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Why not order Stadia and get to play RE8 for free?
