Joke post?
It's true. 30 frames creates a stutter-y fear inducing sense to any game.

Good thing it's coming to 5 other platforms.I genuinely lol'd at the lack of Wii U version.
That's the least of the issues. True fans wouldn't be playing widescreen anyways because it was never built with that in mind. The pan and scan method they're implementing is actually a pretty good idea for fixed camera angle scenes that were set up for 4:3. The isometric view lends itself more to movies than 3d camera games and you get similar issues that can't be fixed when trying to make it widescreen. Not only due to the need to rerender, but due to the composition of the maps, scenes, and item placements.
Not rerendering the backgrounds in HD is a much bigger issue and a no sale IMO.

I alway thought the deal with this not already happening was that Nintendo had some rights on the remake version of the game.

Agreed. It wouldn't be an insane amount of work to even redo the art. There are so many fans of this game, that redoing the art / rerendering etc would absolutely be worth the effort. And if it is upscaled and they are calling it 'HD', then that is false advertisement.
The PlayStation 3 version will be sold as both a downloadable game and retail title. A boxed copy goes for 3,990 yen plus tax. Fans can also pick up a version with an 48 page art guide book and G. Trevor floor map for 4,990 yen plus tax.
If Japan is getting the only retail version, looks like I'm importing again.
Can you read Japanese? Cause it'll be that language, not English. I really wanted a physical release. Its Okami HD/RE 4 all over again.
I literally received the GC REmake in the mail hours before this was announced.
I never played Resident Evil 1 or REmake. Will I love it if I loved RE4?
It looks like Nintendo doesn't have any partial legal authority of RE Remake or RE Zero for that matter. Capcom entered an exclusivity partnership with Nintendo to release RE Remake and RE Zero on GameCube. RE 4 was also initially part of that exclusivity agreement as well, but Shinji Mikami and Capcom tried to make a deal with Microsoft to put it on Xbox, but it never worked out because Capcom and Microsoft both knew Japanese gamers wouldn't be very supportive of the American Xbox console, so Capcom took the offer from Nintendo after. Shinji Mikami was upset when he found out Capcom had reconsidered its options to port RE4 to PS2 9 months after the game came out on GameCube. The actual announcement was made just two months before RE 4 came out on GameCube.
Where did you quit?I wonder if I'll be able to get through the whole game this time...haha.
Seriously, guys, REMake is the scariest game I've ever played. Bar none. I couldn't finish it.
No. Think about it. In movies when shit gets real intense, they use slow motion to amplify that intensity. Now, what if you were to apply that slow motion effect over an entire movie? It'd be almost too intense to handle! Same principle here, only in reverse. You double the speed, it's just going to be less intense, clearly.
Lololollol
Send it back and wait for the PC goodness.
Holy crap yes!

So this is an HD remaster and not an actual remake, right ?
So this is an HD remaster and not an actual remake, right ?
Well, 30fps is the biggest nightmare for many people here.

It's a substandard port.
You will love it even if you hate games in general
REmake is very different than RE4, but Mikami did direct both of them and I can say I played REmake after I had played RE4, and I still loved it. The thing both have in common outside of mythos and similar controls (different angles and aiming though) is the fact both continually introduce ridiculous but fun and well-designed obstacles for the player, but while RE4 is more focused on how this attributes to its gunplay, REmake is more focused on how this might be challenging survival-wise for the player, or to try and scare/unnerve them.
Okay, hold your horses. The thing was literally just announced a couple hours ago, there's no need to go jumping guns off pre-release announcement screenshots and acting like we know the port in and out.
It's a substandard port.
sure, except that the HD part isn't necessarily true.
Yes, there are very few real remakes.
So then Capcom should have:
1) Made a straight-up port of REmake (minus any filters) and priced/marketed it as such
or
2) Made an actual remaster like Square did with Final Fantasy X HD - which was also filled with pre-rendered assets.

Holy shit, I just realized this by writing this post.
They fucking lost the original background data, that's why they cap at 30FPS and upscale the JPEGS.

A straight port would look terrible on an HD screen and Square loves throwing money out the window on risky ventures. Not saying the FFX collection was one, but I'm not sure what the numbers are on it, if they made any money off of it versus the cost.
At least it's something.
Its no true full hd. It doesnt have much better character models. It doesnt have 60fps. It doesnt even have true widescreen lol.
