Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Teaser Trailer

Hmm Dr. Isaac is back huh. Last time we saw him, he was
sliced apart
I wonder if we are going clone heavy this time.

Terrible trailer. There's some cool ideas in there though. Returning to Raccoon City is interesting. It's something the games should explore. One of the big monsters looks like Verdugo from RE4. the other looks a bit like Popokarimu from RE5. Iain Glen returning is weird, although I guess now that he's been on GoT he's somehow notable, which is probably why he's back. Also, Alice using a Hydra shotgun is the perfect kind of over-the-top cheese for these films.

Overall, it looks like the series is trying to end with a big bang of schlock, which is probably for the best.

Well, the laser scene in this, is a recreation of the laser scene from the first movie, which was also recreated in the third movie.

The one from the RE4 game was inspired by the first movie.

Huh, didn't know that. The more laser hallways in RE media, the better.

Yessss. Hopefully there's a full take of Milla doing Helena's triple quick shot animation from the game.

RE6 for life.

Can't wait, but... that music choice feels terrible. I miss the tech-metal OST from the first film.

International trailer = instantly better.

Milla's still damn fine, though.

For the record:

1>4>5>3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2

Much better trailer.

*Sigh* The Resident Evil Blu-ray collection is $26 on Amazon. These movies are so fucking stupid but I sorta want to buy it. I can't sit through a whole Transformers film anymore but I watch every single one of these.

I watch them all, but the only one I'd ever rewatch is 1. The ending is perfect, but 2 ruins it.

There is a difference between good stupid and bad stupid. Transformers is bad, ugly stupid.

These films are masterpiece stupid.

The Hive? Laser hallway? It's like poetry. That vehicle looks like Dead Reckoning from Land of the Dead. The return of dead characters in this series rivals Dragonball.

So there's like no original ideas here. The last two were garbage even by the garbage standards of these movies, but I've stuck with all things Resident Evil this long, I'll see this through to the bitter end because I enjoy these stupid movies for some reason. Plus my Milla crush has only gotten stronger through the years.

I can see the Dead Reckoning influence, but I feel like Anderson just wants to play with Mad Max elements again, like he did in the truck scene in Death Race.

As for originality, it is overrated. Like Tarantino, Anderson is a remix artist.

International and US trailers are night and day.

International: Alice's story, told in flashbacks. You know why she's back in Raccoon City. You see the bad guy (Jorah).

US: it's like they cut the trailer to match the song. Also includes lasers and some snappy dialogue.

I haven't watched any except for the first two, kinda want to remedy that.

Also, not even remotely an expert on the game series lore, but am I wrong in thinking that the first film did not really directly contradict the game series canon (that is, it could have existed as a canon side story to the games that were out at that time?). The only thing I could guess would be not canon/wrong is random dude being implied to become Nemesis at the end, but I have no idea if that was ever covered in the games. I only played RE1, RE2, maybe half of Code Veronica, and a little bit of REmake before eventually deciding that I don't really care to play horror games. Movies yes, games no.

So where do these movies make all their money? I don't know anybody that likes them but there has to be some huge Eastern European market that loves this franchise, right?

You are in a thread full of people who admit, with varying levels of shame, that they have seen them all and will see this one.

You are correct.

True points. For what it's worth, I loved Death Race. It's interesting how this series has wildly switched environments and messed with its own canon (desert world that disappeared for two movies).

No, there's really no way they can co-exist. It's fan fiction. Entertaining fan fiction, but fan fiction none the less.

The first two films- maybe. Anything after introduced massive changes and retcons to their own film series.

The first film is meant to happen concurrent to the events of RE1, which is what I love about it. Probably the first video game movie that didn't try to ape the game itself, and was all the better for it.

After that, it's straight-up crazy town.

Looks like it's doing the same thing as Afterlife and just kinda... glazing over the cliffhanger from the previous movie.

Which I guess is fine. Nobody's watching this crap for the story anyway. I'm in!

I'm sure they'll hand wave it in the first few minutes. Wesker probably told everyone to go home.

It does still look like the Land of the Dead is very much a thing, though.

Isn't that what Assassins Creed aims to do also? I agree, I like that idea

No, I said only the first film, and with the games that were released up to that point. Sounds like maybe I was right. I know that the movie sequels straight up annihilated that.

It won't be entirely glazed over, as one of the trailers has Wesker saying "I should have killed you back in DC."

Can't wait to see how it goes down.

Supposedly Romero was going to do an RE film that was going to be a 1:1 film of the game, and in a rare move of wisdom, it got shot down. And Anderson pitched his brilliant concept.

This is also the man who did Event Horizon(and of course, Mortal Kombat), so it's not like RE is his only laurel.

Oh, misread my mistake.

Yeah, the second film is arguably a (very) loose adaptation of RE3, but after that there's nothing left other than each film borrowing iconic images/plot ideas without any real context.

Anderson is frustrating. I always thought he settled instead of maximizing his potential.

Yeah that Romero script isn't very good.

Best game adaptations shouldn't be 1:1. I think Silent Hill was good proof of that working

The Romero script for RE1 is available online.

I think I tried reading it once, and got three pages in. It looked terrible.

The films are now 'Alice's Badass Zombie Killing Adventures', occasionally with RE and Friends, and I'd have it no other way.

Yeah same here I saw the first near the end of my seventh grade year. Crazy it's still going on when we're starting to get close to our thirties.

Yea it's crazy. First movie came out in 2002. I'm 27 now. So I saw this when I was 13. Absolutely crazy to think this series is still going on and for how long.

Man, looking through the cast for the series, it's weird how several characters kind of just disappear with no explanation. Claire's gonna be in this one, but Chris, Leon, Ada, Jill, K-Mart, and the kid from Retribution are all MIA.

Honestly Claire's all I care about. (And Wesker, of course. Give that man the Oscar.)
Chris was okay, but the rest were either bad adaptations or had nothing to bring.

Barry was great, but he's dead. The rampant fan service of cameos from 1 in the last film was fun, but I don't see it happening again.

I do wonder if Isaac's return is down entirely to the fact that he's a GoT actor. In Extinction his character was a nobody. Middle management at best.

Anderson's unpolished script for RE1 is awful. It has notes literally identical to Quantum Break's joke Timeknife script.

Doesn't that basically happen with each film. They setup some big cliffhanger and then the next film resolves it in the open action srt piece and then they just do whatever they want. Maybe that explains the longevity of audience interest. You can jump in whenever and you'll get new location with new characters.
