So it is confirmed that Michael Jackson is dead it seems I saw the news online earlier and it said that it wasnt 100% confirmed that he was dead, but it is a pity to hear that he is dead ((

Agh, such sad news. ;( I can't believe it.
He'll always be the King of Pop to me. His music had such a huge impact on the world, really one the 'whole world will always remember' people. Hopefully only now he can get some peace and his name not be tarnished as much as it has been.
I don't know what else to say, hard to put into words. I hope even though he was 'weird' and got so much shit he knew how loved he was by millions, his music and what he achieved was amazing.

If you're saying that movies/music/paintings/fiction books can't change the world than I have nothing to argue against you with. But if you're like most people and you think that important works can and do in fact add something to society than MJ will be near the top of the list.

The greatest among them can define and even affect the world in their own times. Michael Jackson was clearly among those. In the music world, at least in the last 50 years, the only other ones on that level were Elvis and The Beatles, who also changed music, brought the world together, and questioned the society around them.
However, Michael Jackson was also, as a lot of people seem to forget, an African American superstar who rose to the national stage at the end of the 1960s. Say whatever else you will about the man (and there's lots that could be said), but to credit the man with any less than that is to deny the reality of the man's achievements and to slight the importance of the work of artists everywhere.

I listen to indie for the most part, but isn't it strange, back when I was a kid Michael Jackson was my favorite singer for a couple years, before I started getting into other stuff. So many people who listen to all different kinds of music now liked Michael Jackson when they were younger. It's kind of scary.
RIP. He was a great entertainer, but I can only feel so sad because of his pedo tendencies, and the fact that he became rather freakish as he grew older. If anything, it makes me miss the old school MJ who had his head on straight and put out cool stuff like Thriller.
His talents won't be forgotten.
