Might be good idea to keep PSN as "sub-brands" on only Playstation devices. My mate was so pissed after he bought Window Phone because of integrates with Xbox Live that confused him, thought can play all the XBLA on phone.
You could say PSN has been ....
.... SEN to die.
YEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
No, no subbranding. Unique network across all Sony devices. Anything less than that sucks.
It's a little unclear, but I'm not totally sure they're actually ditching the PSN branding altogether, vs ditching the label as it is/was attached to your account. Or, at least, I'm not sure the service itself is going to be renamed SEN.
For example, there already are, and will continue to be, 'sub-brands' for different areas - Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited - and I would guess PSN will also remain as a sub-brand there. Just instead of using a PSN account across these, you'll use a SEN account to log into any of these. Which makes more sense...
A part of me thinks that to be consistent they ought to rebrand PSN as 'Playstation Unlimited' though
edit - errrgh, yeah, the Playstation Unlimited suggestion's already been made ^^ Point is that whether it's called PSN or Playstation Unlimited or what, I think the service portion will retain discrete branding, as Music and Video Unlimited are. It's just the common account that's being renamed.
What's with all the SENsationalism in this thread? You could say PSN has been ....
.... SEN to die.
YEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Playstation Unlimited sounds long. I prefer Games Unlimited, easier for general public and other 3rd party devices to accept.
Sony Entertainment Network is long too. I prefer Sony Home account as opposed to SEN account or Sony Entertainment Network account.
But SEN seems ok too.
Nah, Sony have to capitalise on the PS brand, dropping that for "Games" would be a terrible idea. For so many parts of the world, PlayStation means gaming, much like searching on the internet is Googling. They need to make PlayStation more prominent if anything. PlayStation Unlimited, with the PSU abbreviation would work well I think.

I was never really attached to PSN, but dislike this a little for cutting out the Playstation brand. Otherwise I really think this sounds better.
PSN supports more than 2 concurrent devices. It's 2 PS3s and 2 PSPs. They should be able to add other devices. But yeah if they unify the services using 2 entities like what I mentioned above, they may be handle to handle conflicts in existing restrictions vs marketing.
Qriocity is now music/video unlimited I think"Connect" is dead isn't it. Is Qriocity still around? Can Sony go a year without rebranding something?
How come nobody else got that email?

Are you guys sure this is going down the way you think?
PSN will still be called PSN. For example game cases will still have the PSN title. It's just that PSN now falls under the SEN umbrella.
Kaz doesn't ascend to the throne until April.
This is exactly what's happening. Anyone thinking they're ditching the Playstation name for future products are crazy.
Which means this change is pretty much pointless.
Point 1 to disassociating with the PlayStation name after the disastrous PS3, Vita launch and PSP flub in NA
PS4 to be named Sony Entertainment System confirmed

Maybe it'll be the Sony Network Entertainment System, or SNES for short...PS4 to be named Sony Entertainment System confirmed
Selling my PS3 tommorow. I'm done with Sony.
