I guess they didn't have the funding to do much else.
That might actually be it. That is really unfortunate.
The only thing they have done before that is the UI for Halo: MCC and even that was terrible.

It would only be a "tough call" because SE has batshit crazy expectations. SE somehow managed to have money to start funding a online version of it. All the money and effort spent on Sleeping Dogs Triad Wars could have gone to the development of a proper sequel on the same engine with well managed expectations.I just can't see that when the original Sleeping Dogs was a big undertaking. It's a miracle it even happened.
Would have been a tough call to make a second one, you would need a lot of money to do so.
By the way, is Smash + Grab worth trying? Heard some encouraging things about the game.
Smash + Grab seemed like a cool concept, too. Damn, sad news.
I am praying so hard that this happens. I need more SD in my life.Hope the Sleeping Dogs IP can live on.
Dang wanted smash + grab to get a little more optimized so I could play it. It looked fun.
Activision still owns true crime right? After success of sleeping dogs wonder if Activision wood have taken a chance on another one.
lol Activision doesn't do middle of the road anymore. It's either the triplest A of the triple As or trash licensed games. Sleeping Dogs is neither of those and as such of no interest to them.

After Triad Wars, I'm not surprised.
I mean, on top of that modern open world games don't really lend themselves to anything less than AAA in terms of production and budget. You can't create reallly create one on the cheap. Look at Mafia 3. A game that clearly had a ton of time and money go into it, and even still you have complaints that it feels rushed. I don't really blame publishers for staying away from those unless you are fairly certain you can turn it in to a huge franchise IP.
Hope the Sleeping Dogs IP can live on.
Sleeping Dogs 2 set in San Francisco with a heavy emphasis on Triads and taking down a Leland Yee type villain will never happen because it isn't Minecraft or roguelike or whatever isn't streamer friendly. If Pewdiepie isn't playing it, you might as well delete the entire project. That's the industry now!
Thanks video games.
Too late for that, the game was pulled from Steam an hour ago.
